Eric_Smith Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 This is a little preview of what I will be submitting into the Stand Up contest. Comments are welcome. Please read the "Track Info". It gives credit where it is due. Voltage_StandUpContest_Eric_Smith.nltrack Here is my final version
DBru Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 BOOO! TRIMS! lol, just kidding. It's looking good, and I actually really like the color scheme.
Eric_Smith Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Thanks. I saw the colors on a coaster somewhere else and fell in love with them.
themeparkman25 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 From the pictures you have posted you can get a feel of the layout and from what I can see I like it! The inversion after the loop looks fantastic and the tilt loop after looks awesome. Can't wait for the download!
the ghost Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 The colors are awesome, cant wait for the download!
Eric_Smith Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 ^ Thanks for the comments guys. Just wait though, my first drop is even better.
thrillrideseeker Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 OMG! I love the colors!! It looks really good! ~Matthew
Eric_Smith Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Here it is... Hope you all like! themeparkman got it!
DBru Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I can't really see that on a real stand-up...but it looks great!
themeparkman25 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Even if it is not something you would normally see, that adds a lot to the originality, but hopefully the g's will be in the green for it, I can see them being off because of the nature of it.
Eric_Smith Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 All G's are in check. I worked hard for that too, so if you find any, I am gonna be really bummed out.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I like the way this coaster it turning out. Your doing a good job!
Eric_Smith Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Thanks. And you all can expect and update later tonight. More support work to be done and maybe finish the catwalks.
Eric_Smith Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 Here is the update as promised... And one of my more unique supports. And it's not finished yet either. Head Chopper... More footers have been placed...
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Have you done the tunnel test on this coaster yet? Some of those clearances look really close.
Eric_Smith Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 ^Yes I have and everything passes. Some are very close though.
themeparkman25 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Are you going to theme the ride? Perhaps a big electric plant?
Eric_Smith Posted March 6, 2009 Author Posted March 6, 2009 I would if I had time. Maybe I could release 2 versions of the ride...
Eric_Smith Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Here is another update... Things are going along smooth and I hope to be done within the next couple of days. And what does everyone think so far? And lastly here is the unique support that holds up the inclined loop! LIM's have been installed onto the inclined brake run. Supports have also been added to the helix! The first drop is coming along great!
themeparkman25 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Im totally down with the first drop and it looks so sick, but now that you posted these additional pictures, a couple questions come to mind. In the first post, you have a flat brake run with the station not too high off the ground. What happened to that idea? I guess the big question that comes to mind is, why on earth is there an inclined brake run? Maybe I am not getting something but brake runs are supposed to be angled down or at least flat, never uphill! Also, I dont quite get the unique support on the inclined loop. I mean its cool your going for unique features/elements and supports, but I don't understand the point of that support. I'll wait for the download though before I say it is not necessary or something like that. Besides that, it looks great! I love the colors and that first drop is awesome!
Eric_Smith Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Thank you for all your input. As for the inclined brake run that is for a couple reasons. In the first picture you see two boxes that I need to get through. Instead of having the middle of my coaster go through them, I took the easy way out and raised the station to make sure I could get through the two boxes. The second picture just shows how high the station really is. The station is 70ft off the ground! As for the inclined support, I was just trying something new and I am not impressed with it my self so it is back to the drawing board for supporting that thing. Other than that, thanks for your comment! --Eric See? It's crazy high. First two boxes I need to get through.
themeparkman25 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Is this coaster being made for a contest? The only one I have read about recently is thrillrideseekers, but I am not sure if that is a stand up contest.
Eric_Smith Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Yeah it is for Matthew's(thrillrideseeker) contest.
DBru Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 ^^One of those boxes is placed terribly, which is a big reason why many people avoided that contest (including myself)...but you did a good job with it. Not quite sure about the upward brake section, though.
