cfc
God, America on Parade. Those gigantic "Small World" dolls were pretty freaky in the California version, too.

Swiminn6
Wow this is sweet! And that's kind of cool you get to say, "Hey! I went to Disney World the first year it opened!" Also thank god whatever happened to Busch Gardens happened because Sheikra is amazing. Great photos!
exmouse
Just been transferring some 8mm footage of the family trip to Florida in 1975, will have to upload it to Youtube. That parade in your photos sure looks odd by todays standards with some questionable scenes for political correctness.
bgwfreak777
Lovin' the pics! Reminds me of a few of mine. BrownStreak
In your opening post re: WDW in 1972 you said that there was only one on-site Disney Hotel- there were two- Contemporary & Polynesian both opened in October 1971 with the MK. Â You said you stayed at Fort Wilderness, in any of your older photos do you have pics of the train that used to run around the property? Also wasn't the tram to the Main Gate only for the resorts? larrygator
^Good catch. I'm a non-Disney dork, and didn't know the Polynesian Village opened the same year as the park. Â I never stayed at Fort Wilderness, so I don't have any of the train photos. Edited March 12, 2010 by larrygator
BrownStreak
^Are you calling me a dork? Just kidding. I worked in Water Transportation for the MK for almost a year back in the mid-90's so I know a lot about the stuff surrounding the two lakes.
