bigdog Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 After many unsuccessful attempts at a terrain woodie, I finally built one that I'm satisfied with! Calamity uses the terrain from the Banshee track included in NL v1.6 (I was too lazy to create my own landscape so I reused another) to create a wild ride with excellent pacing. It incorporates features that I feel make a great woodie, including an S-shape first drop (similar to Renegade's), an 80 degree banked turn, and an out-and-back layout more similar to that of Prowler. Stats: Max Height- 90 ft First Drop- 95 ft Max Speed- 52 mph Total Change in Elevation- 110 feet 5 airtime hills I also apologize for not posting screenshots! Couldnt figure out how to reduce the pic size Calamity.nltrack
dr.gumbo Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Superb ride. Probably the best GCI NL coaster I've seen in ages. The good -Very smooth -True to the GCI style -Awesome Pacing -Super fun The not-so-good -Quite short for my liking -Un-realistic and ugly colours (try and look at other woodies to see how their coloured) My verdict Everything you could ask for from a GCI.
Sasquatch Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 By the way, you can reduce the file size by opening the screenshots in Paint and saving them as JPEG files
triggernel Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 From what dr.gumbo said it sounds like something I would love to ride in real life. But no NL so sorry, about no critiques.
DBru Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Did I ride the same coaster as Gumbo? While the coaster had great pacing and a fun layout, I noticed tons of pumps, and the layout/airtime was a bit intense for a GCI... I see lots of potential, but maybe for your next coaster try using smaller track segments, and (regarding GCI's) widen your hills so that the airtime isn't as strong, but sustained a bit longer.
Sasquatch Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Yeah i agree with DBru, it seemed like you didnt use the smoother on some sections of track , which is vital for creating GCI or GG woodies. But decent layout and decent pacing, well done!
Freefallbestrideever Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Awesome ride that just needs a little smoothing out. 8/10
AlmereStars Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 + nice pace + Pretty smooth, has some bumps. Most of them just before a big turn + Sticks to the terrain more then 50% of the time (not always the case when people say it's a terrain coaster) ++ First Drop - Weird looking colour (too yellow for wood) - Some too sharp turns overall pretty good! 8/10
