PTR Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo 12/14/08

On Sunday night after Busch had closed, we decided to head over to the Lowry Park Zoo for their Wild Wonderland Christmas event. They're open during the day for their regular zoo hours before closing for an hour and then reopening for the night event.

 

We always wanted to check out this zoo so this was the perfect opportunity. We always enjoy Christmas events and the fact that they had a new coaster credit made it even more appealing. They obtained the Tiger Terror coaster from Wild Adventures and it was already up and running.

 

Normally you have to pay zoo admission of about $19 and then the rides are extra on top of that. However, with the Wild Wonderland event, admission was only $13 and included the rides.

 

In addition to the coaster, they also have a zoo-themed carousel, a log flume, a couple kiddie rides, and a round-trip sky ride which travels over a good portion of the zoo.

Gator Falls looked like fun, but we didn’t feel like getting soaked.

 

Awww, the sleeping gopher tortoises were so cute!

Tigger Terror was one of 3 coasters I missed at Wild Adventures, this should make it easier to collect the credit!!

^ Yeah, I was kind of wondering the same thing...but it's back where it belongs now!

 

This TR has kiddie coasters, log flumes, penguins and turtles. It's totally TPR main forum material!

That's where Tiger Terror went! I must say, it looks alot better then when it was at Wild Adventures. Great TR!

Is it me or is $19 for a zoo pretty high??

You're right, Tiger Terror does look much better in it's new location.

 

Mike, if you do go, I would recommend the Wild Wonderland event if you're there in December. It's only $13 and includes unlimited rides. If you go during normal zoo hours, not only is it $19 admission, but you have to pay extra for rides.

Whoa..I went TWICE in October & I reckon Tiger Terror wasn't up yet. That is SWEET! Had no idea they had a coaster!

 

Yes, its great to hit Lowry Park Zoo during their holiday events as one price usually includes everything as opposed to paying a pretty penny during the day.

 

If your ever in the area for Howl-O-Scream, be sure & visit Zoo Boo...a pretty good Halloween event they've been doing yearly featuring some above average haunted houses IMO.
