Reality15 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 HISTORIC THEME PARK PREPARING TO OPEN FOR 2000 SEASON BOYD, MI -- Clean and friendly family fun will be the theme at Edgewater Park once again in the year 2000. One of Michigan's largest amusement parks, Edgewater Park, is getting set for yet another great season of wholesome family fun. The park has been a mid-Michigan staple since the 1895. "When visitors walk through the gates this year they will notice that we're still the same park we've been for the past hundred years," says park President and General Manager Jon Roost. "Whether it's a ride on the classic Thunderbolt or being flipped upside down on last year's Berserker, Edgewater Park, we are committed to being both a traditional and a modern park." Edgewater Park opened as a picnicing area just outside Holland, MI. The park is home to several traditional rides such as a 1920's carousel and a rare "Old Mill" water flume. In addition to the traditional rides, the park has many modern rides, including the 1997 inverted roller coaster, "Phoenix" and the 1999 "Berserker" thrill ride. "Every year we try to either add a brand new ride or bring back an old favorite. This year, we have begun work on a new car ride for the 2001 season and have refurbished several structures in the park. In addition, Phoenix will be getting a new coat of paint," said Roost. Edgewater Park will open for the 2000 season in the coming months. For more updates, visit our thread on the Theme Park Review forums. ========================= So, if you can't figure it out, I'm starting a new park named after the once-famous Detroit, MI park. Not much is done, as you can see, but I hope to get the 2000 season up available for download by the end of the month. I'll post more photos as I build more. In the meantime, comments and criticism are definitely welcome! -Jon Roost
TurboWagon Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I never owned RCT2 (but I played the heck out of the first one) I like your style of images though, I want to see more of this park.
Steffen_Dk Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Wow this is really nice - a wonder that I haven't noticed it before now.
Chris Benvenuto Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Dang, I wish this park was real, It'd be better then going 2 hrs to CP each summer for a day, or 4 hrs for Michigan's Adventure on the other side of the state. I like what I see, and just wish it was real! Very nice presentation, and can't wait to hear about 2001 season!
upside down Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 This really is probably one of the best looking RCT2 park ive seen on these forums.
DBru Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 You have some awesome stuff going on here. Can't wait to see more!
Reality15 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 I spent a little time on the park today, so I have some new screenshots for everyone! Enjoy, comment, criticize, and let me know what you think!
DBru Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Still loving it; Pheonix's colors especially! Not sure how the 2 different architecture styles for the Old Mill will fit together...but it looks good from what I can see. Keep it up!
Reality15 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 As you can probably tell, I took inspiration from Kennywood's Old Mill ride (before they turned it into Garfield's Nightmare. I tried finding a picture of the facade from those days, but couldn't come across one to recreate it. The back buildings are a recreation of an aerial photograph from sometime in the 50's. If someone finds more pictures of this ride, send me a link as I'd like to fix up this ride to make it look very similar!
Thelegendarymatthew Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 The Old Mills Switchbacks remind me of how they set up a lot of BGE Themed rides. This park honestly has a Busch Gardens feel to it. -Matthew
Reality15 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 Funny that you mention BGE. The inspiration behind this park is actually Kennywood... something I would consider a sort of "traditional" look at BGE instead of the "themed" approach. Glad I've gotten the look that I was going for. The Old Mill, however, is about to be rebuilt. I just got about 30 old photos of the Kennywood original (and its various transformations), and realized what I built is very different than what it should look like.
