^^ I actually agree. In So Cal, its pretty much standard practice to allow a couple people to rejoin their party. Disneyland is a great case in point. How many times have I gotten out of the Splash Mountain line to grab a drink or snack before rejoining my party just before the indoor queue section? Many! And no one has ever made a peep!

I've commented on similar threads before and even though I'm all for kicking out a jerk who thinks he/she shouldn't wait & just makes his/her way to the front of the line for NO good reason other then "I don't feel like waitin'", but the thought of getting out of the line for a sec to grab a drink while the rest of the party stays in line or a little kid in your party HAS to go the bathroom (I have two, so I know from experience) doesn't bother me much...especially if its just one or two people.

I think you guys are grabbing at straws & being a little too picky with that one. the last thread, I got rung out...with the same ol "you should ALL go to the bathroom/get your drink THEN get on line" etc. DO ANY OF YOU HAVE CHILDREN? I'll drill it into their heads if U gotta go, we go NOW...and have forced them to use the bathroom even if a drop comes out....and they'll STILL bust out with "I gotta poop" out of the blue....

Some of you guys are just ruthless....I don't see anything wrong with one parent & child joining their party that's already on the line...but I AM against a party of 10 joining ANOTHER party of 10 because they were all grabbing some beers with their buddies (which you see at HHN alot)! Now THAT'S just wrong. I have yet to have anyone complain when I join my wife & daughter in line after taking my son to the bathroom...and so HELP me if someone does...love to meet some of you "tough guys" on the line that day. And fact is...I WON'T get kicked out. I got TOO nice a face & too GOOD a disposition for it...so would LOVE to see U try.

Shoot, just this past Veteran's Day, a mother came back with her son from the bathroom on line for that Cloud Bouncer at Land of the Dragons whilst his siblings were still on line...the party was just in front of me...didn't bother me one bit. I don't see why it would bother YOu either.

Let the flaming begin.

I respect your opinion, and in fact I personally believe that a parent/child rejoining the line after going to the bathroom is totally acceptable. However, parks cannot make stipulations on who can rejoin the line and who cannot. The fact is, even if a teenager really had to get a drink and wanted to come back in line, I wouldn't have a problem with that either. As long as he was really in line in the first place.

BUT, if this was allowed, the park will have opened up a loophole for all types of actual linecutting. Everyone and their brother would just use the excuse "oh I was already in line". The park staff would have no way of separating the line cutters from the innocent guy who had to pee. It is not appropriate to interrogate the other guests in line for this information, and thus now there exists a loophole that can be abused. The ONLY fair method to eliminate line cutting is to say that you may not cut another person in line for for any reason whatsoever. It doesn't matter if you left to get a drink, it doesn't matter if your 10 buddies are already in line and you had to run to your car, the rule is that one you leave, you return to the end.

I'm sure that at a place like Disneyland where 90% of the people in line are families with young children, nobody would have a problem with a father or mother and their child rejoining the line. At a place like Six Flags or other "thrill-park", there are no young children in line for the major thrill rides and therefore the child excuse no longer holds up. Anybody who is tall enough to ride a major coaster (usually 48" and up) should be able to wait an hour or two without going to the bathroom if they went before they got in line. Thus the reason for the strict line-cutting policies at these parks, and the fact that there are absolutely no exceptions to the rules.

Now, I know this may sound a bit harsh, but after working at Six Flags Great Adventure all summer, I can tell you that people will try every excuse in the book after I catch them cutting the line. Not once did I ever let someone get away with it, because it wouldn't be fair to other guests. The rules are simple, no cutting, for any reason. I'm sorry but if you had to take your son to the bathroom and wanted to return to the line, you would technically be breaking the rules and you cannot blame the park for doing their job if they refuse. The only way it is fair for everyone is if there are no exceptions.

Is anyone here going to be honest and admit that once in a while they have not been tempted to skip part of a line.

This whole holier than thou, I get in people's faces and try to stop when they linejump thread is slightly amusing.

I have on occasion jumped the line and am I a truly monster for not regretting it?

At least I am honest. The worst are the people who linejump and then complain when people linejump them.

I agree that exceptions should be made with line jumpers. I do not have kids yet, but I can totally understand kids being to excited to ride and not telling you they have to go to the bathroom. When it comes to older teens and adults joining there party in line for no good reason, that's where I have a problem

I've got a story from last May. I was at Cedar Point, in line for Top Thrill Dragster. A teenaged couple cuts through about 30-40 minutes worth of line. The entire time, people are booing them, but nobody stopped them. The couple stopped a few people behind me and waited in line. Once in the station, the couple was about 2 trains away from the front when a security guard pulls them aside. They tried to act like they didn't know what was going on, but you could see the guilt in their eyes. The guard talks to them, writes them both citations, then escorts them out of the park. Many people applauded, and I thought it was great that the guard let them wait in line before ejecting them from the park.

Yes, CP has done a good job of cutting down on the line cutting in recent years, especially on the bigger line thrill rides. I have seen it happen more than once in Millenium and TTD where they will wait till the line cutters are close to boarding and then escort them out of line - the crowd always loves it!

As far as the whole "I have a child and he has to poop", most parents that have children at parks will simply leave the line, go do their thing, and then enter the line at the beginning of the queue with no question. Most do not try to get back to where they were in line because they already know the rules that are posted at the beginning of the line. I do not recall an asterix on any ride signs that say "no line-cutting - except parents with kids that have to go to pee/poop."

And no, I have NEVER line jumped at a park - even in my younger teen-age days. I respected the people that were in front of me and would have never wanted to draw the ire of anyone by cutting in front of them. If we see people trying to cut in front of us, they will be blocked or reported, bottom line. I don't care if it is a 6 year old girl, a 70 year old Grandmother, or a bunch of wannabe gangstas!
