Miles and I have still been trying to put one together from out Mexico City trip way back in October. I am going to stick to the postcard thread and my Attic thread and leave the trip reports to others.

thrillerman1 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Here's an unusual picture frame card from Ghost Town in the Sky which I scored when I visited the gift shop at the base of the mountain prior to the park's 2007 reopening. Although I have no recollection, my parents tell me I've ridden the chairlift to the top when I was a baby. With the news of the chapter 11 bankruptcy filing from this past week, I'm definitely going to do my best to get over there this summer for the full on experience. montezooma Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Well it is no secret that I am a fan of Schwarzkopf shuttle loops and I have traveled the world in search of every Schwarzkopf credit I can get. While the Tidal Wave was not one of the best riding shuttle loops it definitely wins for best looking! Beautiful ride both day and night.

montezooma Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Yes that is the Santa Clara park, the way I can tell is by the weight well on the Tidal Wave shuttle loop coaster. The one in Santa Clara was a solid blue color while the one in Gurnee was a blue/white stripe.
thrillerman1 Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 Aha...yes now I see. I just looked at the Gurnee Tidal Wave on RCDB, and the alternating blue and white stripe is cool. It actually makes the weight well look like a lighthouse. Great eye to catch that Shane.
montezooma Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 And while we are on the subject of shuttle loops, here is one I hope sees the light of day again and doesn't just rot away in some field. AstroWorld's Greezed Lightnin is now awaiting construction at Joyland park in Texas, but it has sat in their field for several seasons now, I am starting to lose hope FYI - This photo must have been from opening season. The "Greezed Lightnin" logo has not been added to the saloon and the stripe on the train is white. It was later repainted dark blue. This model of shuttle loop was one of the best riding versions. Greezed Lightnin and Montezooma's Revenge rode (and still do) the best!
