restoca Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Continuing with Kings Island and the current subject of discussion over at Shane's Amusement Attic: this poor unfortunate creature became extinct 25 years ago.
matteocrepaldi Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I'm going to get some postcards from Gardaland this Sunday. I'll post them here next week.
thrillerman1 Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 CHILLING! Â I was just thinking last night how awesome it would be for an Alpengeist card to be in the SCAREadise series, and how I wish I had a card from it. Awesome addition! Â Matteocrepaldi...I'm looking forward to seeing those Gardaland cards!
thrillerman1 Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 Welcome foolish mortals...this week my entry into the SCAREadise series features a night view of The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, a dark ride so cool it spawned its own comic book! Don't you just love a ride in a doom buggy? 1 more ghost to reach 1000 Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize
restoca Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 ^ The ultimate theme park attraction for Halloween. Wish I could ride it today! Â Here's another monster from BGW:
thrillerman1 Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 ^ Really amazing Boris artwork! I have seen some of his other art over the years but never knew he did any for parks. Cool!
restoca Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Nothing scary about this card, you say? Look a little closer...
montezooma Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Again as I try to stretch the "SCAREadise" theme, I present this postcard from Boardwalk & Baseball. Look at those colors...Isn't that scary? Â Sorry I don't have the back of the postcard, it was sent from a friend and I didn't want to post the personal message. Those are the scariest colors for a coaster I have seen in a while. Pink and Grey...yuck!
thrillerman1 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 ^ Any and all postcards featuring scarily painted color schemes on coasters or in parks in general are perfect for this series. The more hideous and horrifying the better! Â ^^ Too funny about the Texas Giant card. Cackles!
restoca Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 OK thrillerman1, here's Thriller in its original glory!
thrillerman1 Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Looks frightastic. Yay Schwarzkopf! Pardon me now while I go listen to some Michael Jackson.
restoca Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 And for all the vertical loop fans, here's some more Demon:
montezooma Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Oh that last post was great cause now I can post this and you will be able to really see the difference between the two Demons. I love that they give a shout out to the Turn of the Century! Six Flags Great America's Demon with more square angled rockwork.
thrillerman1 Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 It looks like the Six Flags Demon had a running waterfall. Did the Cali version also have it? It looks like it may have but that it's just turned off.
montezooma Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 neither one ever had a waterfall on the loop rocks, but they both have waterfalls after the tunnel going into the corkscrews. They used to be blood red, not sure if they still do that or not.
restoca Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 That bloody waterfall is featured here, in yet another variation of a Demon postcard. postmark 11 Sep 1985
montezooma Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 ooooh...look at that blood red waterfall...Now that is scary!
montezooma Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Hey look at this, I found another Scary one. (sorry Mark, but I will be glad when this "scare" theme is over, I am completly dry now)
SeaWhippet Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 OK thrillerman1, here's Thriller in its original glory! Â Now THAT's the Thriller I remember. Thanks for the butchering, Six Flags! Â Somewhere I have an original Himalaya Bahn card that came out with this one. I'll have to dig it out of The Closet. Â Love this thread, BTW!
thrillerman1 Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 Well Shane this theme will be over for me this Sunday as I post my final nail in the coffin (hint hint) to the SCAREadise series for this year. I hope you all have enjoyed this special theme. I know I sure have! And by the way shouldn't you be in Mexico having cervezas by now Shane? Â Scott I would love to see that Himalaya Bahn card. Please share with us. Much love to your thread too!
montezooma Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Well I have loved the SCAREadise theme but it has "bled" me dry. Â I will be in Las Vegas all next week for the World Waterpark Convention, then off to Mexico City for the weekend. So my posting of post cards my be scattered next week. Â Here is a scary postcard...remember this ride??? Scary on so many levels... oh damn, I didn't scan the back. Oh well it is from Eftling
SeaWhippet Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 OMG! WTF is that thing? It looks like something that crawled/fluttered out of Blazing Fury at Dollywood ...
thrillerman1 Posted October 25, 2008 Author Posted October 25, 2008 LOL...that might be the scariest card of this series! If I remember correctly, it's a "fairy" from Droomvlucht (Dream Flight), one of the most messed up and in my opinion strange but fun dark rides ever. It even has a "coaster" section near the end. I bet Jeff Johnson counts it as a credit. Hi Jeff!
matteocrepaldi Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Postcard from Gardaland: it's from 1993. You can see the old Magic Mountain's color and no Sequoia in the middle! Back! Front!
