Luka Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Recently, I went on a vacation to Miami with my family and I dragged them along to Boomers. Overall it's a pretty clean park, very good theming and friendly staff. And the coaster, first drop is terribly small but, the coaster has some good airtime moments. Onto the pictures! Right after the entrance. Let the games begin! More games. Look at all those prizes. Air hockey + alot of games.... The start of the minigofl area and the lift hill of Dania Beach Hurricane. A Fountain! Mini Golf theming. And more. You should understand by now... Me. Lift hill and exit. Me coming back.. Lift hill and me waving. Batting cages. The ride name is "Teacups" and on the website it actually shows a teacup ride... The wave swinger. Weee! That's it, sorry for the crappy photo's. I promise I'll do better next time.
TheRapidsNerd Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hey man, you got a great start. I see no crappiness. Congrats on a the first PTR.
Patchmanw Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Very well done trip report! It looks like a very nice place, it looks very cool. The mini golf course is neat also.
Jon34MA Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Very good trip report. It looks like an ok park. Were you the only one there? How busy was the park? I wish every park I visited during the year was like that. Man are you lucky.
andy_e219 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Great Tr, and the park looks alright. That Hurricane coaster looks to be in very poor shape however.
Marcio Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 It looks like a nice place to visit! Great TR! Well, were you "alone" there? I can't see anybody else... Neither a ride op!
Erik Johnson Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Is it sad that I live in Florida and still have yet to ride the Dania Beach Hurricane? I understand its a really good wooden coaster, which is an oxymoron in Florida. Thanks for posting.

I asked the coaster operator and he said that it's busy during the night especially on the weekend. It looks like a nice place to visit! Great TR! Well, were you "alone" there? I can't see anybody else... Neither a ride op! You can see in the "teacups" photo the ride operator locking the doors in place. Not really, I was in seattle twice in 2 months this year and I failed to get a credit No problem, I hope you get there some day.
tnguy Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Nice pictures. I didn't realize Boomers had all that it looks like a fun place to burn a few hours.
Jumboshrmp Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I've been there many times and it's a fun place to go. Did you ride the Blender? (That's what they call their gravityworks skyscraper). It's been closed a lot lately, but that's the best ride there. Look at my avatar. That's what the blender looks like when you ride it at night. (It's not that fast though, the GIF image just skips frames and looks faster.) The Dania Beach Hurricane isn't too bad, but the only other wooden coaster I have to compare it to is Gwazi, which is a pile of crap-o. The drop on DBH is about 100 feet, and the ride is fun as long as you sit in either the back or the front. Boomers is usually very empty though. On the Dania Beach Hurricane, they NEVER send out a full train except for at night when the park is busier, because it takes to long to find enough people to fill it up! I think they have a rule about dispatching it every 5 minutes. That's enough time to walk out of the station, around the building and back to the station gates, which stay open for about five minutes too. You have to sit there waiting for them to dispatch it, theres only one train on at a time, but that's all you ever need. There are signs all around the station saying "walk, do not run" because of the stairs you have to go down to exit. But the little kids there do it anyway, and the only way to get a front seat ride is to run in front of them when they run back around to the entrance again. Good times

Good times Unfortunately, I didn't go on it. I hate spinning rides and I just don't feel good with them. If a friend had dared me to go on it with him, I'd probably go.

It's actually not really a "spinning ride". My avatar makes it look a lot faster than it really is. The Blender is nothing like a Top Spin or a Zipper, I think that the best way to describe the feeling of this ride is like a never-ending a drop ride. It is very scary though. Won't make you sick if you like coasters, but it's very scary.
Luka Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 ^Meh, still... You're going in circles X2, once in your seat (upside down) while the ride is rotating.
