The videos looked great on my HD monitor (32 inch screen). Too bad your day ended up as rough as it did...probably wouldn't have been so bad if you had a Six Flags pass...but as you paid to get in, that's another story.

That really sucks about the tripod situation!

I've never heard of not being able to take a tripod into a park. I've only tried to take one into Cedar Point though, and I had no problem there.

Your videos are definitely quite nice the way they are, but using a tripod would have made them perfect! I really enjoyed them though.

Thanks a lot for sharing!

P.S. Excellent choice in music for the Park Overview Video!

Too bad your day didn't work out exactly like you planned, but it still seems like you had a good day for the most part. Oh, and by the way.. AWESOME videos!

Funny (but not really) about the X2 head slamming you experienced...I rode it a few weeks ago on the outside and during that last flip (outside loop whatever it is) I could not keep my head back and experienced the same bashing you did. That was some pain! I was dizzy for a bit and had a serious headache after that. I don't know what it causing that but it is very very painful and I think it should be looked into as this could cause mild concussions. If nothing else it kind of ruins the ride. You go through all that awesomeness and then BAM! Pain.

I agree.

I never experienced such a violent head bang on X.

It makes me wonder if the new trains are the source of the problem or did SFMM mess with the X rails during the refurbishment.

That sucks about the tripod, I have never had any issues taking mine into theme parks. I think I have only taken it into Indiana Beach once. I might see if they were busy and said you couldn't bring it in. I do have a replacement suggestion. Buy a monopod, they usually fold up to be only about 12 to 15 inches long and only have one leg. If I take something in, that is usually what I bring in. I haven't looked at your videos yet, but one thing you might look into using and not using your bandwidth is www.vimeo.com it is a high def. video upload site. I personally use it just for standard def. videos though.

Yes please if you find something in the footage about X by all means let us know. I've been on a lot of coasters and can take the usual Vekoma/Arrow style headbanging but this is certainly NOT the usual headbang. I think this is a serious issue that should be looked into right away. It's one good hard whack toward the end of the ride, it's really unusual and it just comes out of nowhere, not like the mild beating you get during the ride. It's almost like the track is really messed up in that spot and your head slamming the headrest feels like somebody hit you with a bat. It's really bad and I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this. Maybe it is the trains, I wish I knew.

Anyway though thanks for the awesome videos and I look forward to future footage.

I would guess that I have ridden it 15 times since the transformation and I have never experienced this. Every ride but one has been on the outside. However, I think that all of my rides have been in the front 2 or back 2 rows. I wonder if this phenomena is unique to just one or two rows, seats or even one of the cars. I think if it was a defect in the track it would be noticeable on all the outside seats.

I'm not an engineer. And not representative of the ride maintenence in any way. But I am Arrowfanman and have walked beneath the inversion, inspecting it close up--

The trains are great. It's the track shaping there. The track essentially turns and twists 35 degrees--vertically--at a moment in the ride when the speed is fluctuating rapidly (causing different parts of the train to take the turn differently). If you're sitting on an outside, you're probably 6-7 feet from the point which anchors you to this twisting track--and a 35 degree twist, in line will be much more dramatic 7 feet away from that in-line.

To redo the section would be a massive undertaking. They'd have to probably start as far back as the exit of the last inversion and retrack up to the break run, to lessen the angle of the turn.

And the truth is, I'm with ajinaz on this one. I've ridden several times, including in the very seat you describe and haven't had an experience to the extent which you describe. It hurts, but I've been on a lot of coasters that hurt. I've never banged my head to the point I fear concussion.

As for the tripod, it sucks you couldn't get ahold of someone. I believe it says the rule on the internet and know that it does in the park maps.
