89James89 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 (Well I havent posted here ina while but I thought I'd share my new park with you all. This park will also be no CS. Not because I have trouble getting it to work but because I want to try a no CS park so please don't post stuff like needs CS lol. It does of course mean I need to be more imaginative with coaster supports and such but I reckon my new laptop can handle that. Anyway yer so without further ado heres Uncle Freds Fun Park.) Hi and welcome ot this blog for my Cousins newest venture. I'll get on to showing you what you all came to see in a sec buit first some background. The farm which this park is built on has been a family venture for many yerars now selling its produce in its own farm shop and sustaining a pick your own fruit and veg business as well but over the last couple of years somethingelse has been needed to sustain the farm. Unfourtunately my Uncle died last year form a heart attack and the outlook for the farm was bleeker than ever. This is where my cousin stepped in. Taking up where his dad had left off and with the idea of diversifying in his head he set about it in a very different fashion than what I think my Uncle expected. Buying up lots of used rides he managedf to put together a rag tag family park and with it named after my late Uncle Fred, Uncle Freds Fun Park was born. Anyway now onto some pictures. These are some that I took the other day while visiting my Cousin and this is a few of them. Firstly from the carpark you can see the gates to the park and my Cousins house. These two show the farmshop and the pick yuour own fruit and veg. Moving inside and around here you can see a small food outlet and the fence around the farm buildings. Finally for now the horse paddock which is doubling up as a petting zoo and the lake where you can see the ostriches in the distance. (OOC: Thats all for now mnore later. Hope you enjoyed this first look at the park and comments and critiscms are both welcome. Cheers 89James89)
89James89 Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 (OOC: Rest of this mornings update) This is the ostriches I mentioned earlier. As you can see by the amount of chicks running around Ostrich breeding has been pretty successful here. Moving on you get to the ride part of the park. Heres the Twister, Merry Go Round and Trampolines. This is the games stall and information stand. Also you can see the Spiral Slide and Bumper Cars in the background. Finally the ride that most of the money was spent on. A standard Pinfari Big Apple/ Wacky Worm layout kiddie coaster named Ladybird. Hope you enjoy these pictures the next update will be at opening day so make sure you check back. (OOC: There you go hope you like the new pictures. Cheers 89James89)
Mr. Starr Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 When I looked at the title "Uncle Freds Fun Park" it sounded like some sort of Michael Jackson creepy child center, but no, ostrich farm. Its does look pretty cool though.
89James89 Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 Replies: Kingbooba: Thanks Mr. Starr: Thanks and no creepy men here don't worry. Opening Day Trip Report: Well I now have a load more pcitures for you all having visited the park for the opening day and compiled a trip report for you. Firstly we left rather early in the morning as I had swimming early afternoon so we wanted to get the most out of the park with the time we had. Nearing the park we could see that there were some people already on there way there but boy could this place use some signage to help with locating it lol. Having got into the park ealry than the actual opening times I was able to get ready to take this photo when the gates fianlly actually opened. You can aslo see my cousin in this picture and as you can see it wasn't to bad for a new park and this early in the morning. Next to where I took the previous picture you could see one of the mecahnics making sure the Spiral Slide was safe before it opened up to the crowds. Moving on I dicided to actually go and ride soem of the rides. Firstly I rode the bumper cars which were really fun. Heres a on ride photo my brother took while I was driving. Coming off the bumper cars we noticed how long the klines for Ladybird were but got inline anyway. Rather annoyingly the ride operator wouldnt let me on the ride with my camera so I couldnt get any pictures. (I did later talk to my Cousin and he said that he'd arrange for it so that I was abkle to take the photos next time I was here). After the coaster which was quite fun actually we went on the Twister which made my brother feel a little bit sick. Oh and I just realsied I hadn't mentioned that the rides are pay to ride at the moment but the prices weren't too high (£2.50 a go for the coaster for example). Next were the Trampolines which were my second favourite attraction for the whole day and I really enjoyed them. Then it started getting very dark and rain decided to show its ugly face. With the rain coming in and swimming only a few hours away we decided to go grab some food from this burger stand and they were actually really nice which kinda suprised me beacuse they weren't very expensive either but I ain't gonna complain. While eating we tooka look at the Horses and Ostriches. One of the keepers started chatting to us and apparently the Ostrich breeding program was going really well and they were having to sell of some of the more mature ones ot local farms and a local zoo as there wasn't enough room for them all here. The hroses understandly weren't breeding like the Ostriches but still there was a couple of foals running around. Well thats all for my trip report I know it was a bit long winded but I hope you all enjoyed it and will take a trip to the park if you can yourself. Till next time Jeremy Pelen (OOC: A bit long winded yer but I think I got carried away lol. Oh well hope you enjoyed it. Cheers 89James89)
Team Thriller Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 I LOVE how you made this park into a Tr like you are a guest. You better not stop that because that is so well done. P.S. The park is very cool also. --James
doublex98 Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 This park is great for no custom scenery! I cant wait to see how it all turns out!
89James89 Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 Replies: Team Thriller: Thanks and dont worry I plan on keeping the tpr trip reports coming. doublex98: Thanks Kingbooba: Thanks and neither can I. Trip report 2: Well as priomised I am back and this time with soem on ride shots from the rollercoaster. Like I said last time its a pretty good ride and hasn't got any worse as the years gone on luckily anywhere heres the photos. A shot for all you lift hill enthusiasts (though as its a ride clone you've probaly seen it before). These two show the coaster in action. Now we've covered the coaster the only new shots that I got were some night ones. Firstly the rides at night. Then the burger bar. Finally the ostriches which I've been told are currently awaiting transport to the nearby farms as there numbers are gettign to many for the park. Hope you like this update the next one will be a off season one as I wont be visiting again this season. Till next time. Jeremy Pelen. (OOC: There ya go and yer I added the catwalks since the last update but just pretend they were there all along lol. Cheers 89James89)
kraken613 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Looking pretty good! Keep it up and impressive for no CS!
89James89 Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 Replies: kraken613: Thanks Right well I've just recieved the information off my Cousin for this years review and it looks pretty good to be honest. The park seems to have been a good choice and is reaping the profits pretty well. A side effect thta no one really thought about was the increased trade that the farm shop business did thanks to the increased visitor count ot the area. One thing that my Cousin didi say was that the place really needed a sign so that people were more aware of it being there. He also meantioned that next year will be more to do with infrastructure than rides but they wont be neglected completely. So anyway the next time you'll here form me will be during the off season when we go to see my Cousin sometime near christmas. Till next time Jeremy Pelen (OOC: yer not much here to see but oh well. Cheers 89James89)
holidayworld08 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 i've been followin this park, not since day one but i just read it today and at first when i saw the title, i was like "what!" it sounded like one of those parks that are super cheap and are behind a swap meet but i looked at it anyway and its awesome!
AlmereStars Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 good job for a park using no cs!! the parks name is awesome
89James89 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 Replies: holidayworld08: Thanks and no no swap meet here (unless you want to swap farm produce lol) AlmereStars: Thanks lol yourthe first one to say that its got a good name. People think its something to do with Micaheal Jackson lol. Season 1: Off Season Well we went and visited my Cousins farm the other day and boy was I glad to see the work going on at the park. I got some photos for you all and they show most of the work. The only bit I wwasn't allowed to show was the new area withthe rides as my Cousin wanted to keep these a secret for Season 2. What I can say and show you though is a number of new buildings and some beautification around the park but first a little something to end Season 1 with. A nice overview courtesy of our local news chopper. Now onto the stuff you really wnated to see. Some shots of the construction work and improvements goign on around the park. Firstly this is waht you see when you get to the park entrance now. Gone is the open walkway up ot the rides and here is the new avenue of trees. My Cousin said these were here to hide the farm shop and the house form the view of the guests and to make it feel more like a park instead of a farm. I think they look really nice. Moving on and just on the corner oppsotie where the souvenir and information stands are is a new joke shop. Quite why my Cousin has put a joke shop in the park is a bit confusing but I suppose as its a family park the smaller ones will prbaly shop here. The next new thing is a toilet block in the ride area. Not that interesting so heres the pciture. Fianlly the only shot of the new rides that I'm allowed to show you. This also shows the progress of turning the dirt pathing to the new area into the tarmac pathing thats already around the exisitng rides. Well thats all for now hoep to see you next year. Till next time. Jeremy Pelen (Well thats all for now. Hope you like it. Cheers 89James89)
Steffen_Dk Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 From what I can see from the overview shot, this park is missing trees! But when I look at the regular shots, there are a fine number of trees. That's a mystery!
89James89 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 Replies: DBru: Thanks Steffen_DK: Well I didn't want to have the whole park surronded by trees beacuse its meant to be on open farm grounds so fields and such. I have however placed the few trees there is so that they block the line of site to the fields as much as they can. In places the trees are replaced by buildings and walls and such. The only place where you can see the edge of the map is behind the ride area looking towards the rollercoaster but its nto a problem to me. So yer careful planning is how thta happend lol. Season 2: 1st Day Trip Report: Well I just returned form the park on its second season opening day and I really enjoyed myself. The improvements while not really big or groundbreaking really add to the family nature of the park which is a big plus. Anyway onto the pictures. Driving towards the park again and this tiem you can see I sign directing you to the park. Yer the beginning of the day was pretty overcast and showery. From the car park you can also see the new signs and the improved entrance walkway. This one shows the improvements to that area more clearly though. As you can see it is still quite busy later on in the day which was when this was taken. May have been to do with the rains stoping though lol. This also shows the joke shop which was really popular and sold some funny gifts. Going back to this morning this one shows how busy Ladybird is even though its drizzling a little bit. Having riden last seasons rides I made my way over to the new section. New Section? Yep they've added a whole new area over the off season. This is the view nearing the new area along the newly concreted pathing alongside the horses. This is the Cafe where we had our lunch. We sat outside in the new picnic area which you can see just about in the last photo. This is the first new attraction for this year. Racing Slides is a slide complex where you can race up to four of your friends to see who can slide the fastest. Pretty good fun. And finally a new coaster has been constructed oppostie the new cafe. This butterfly model form designer Heege Freizeittechnik. Pretty fun for the little ones. Well my young sister enjoyed it anyways. Well thays all for now. I hope more of you visit this season as we now have some new rides to enjoy! Till next time Jeremy Pelen (OOC: There ya go hope the new improvements are liked. The butterfly coaster is a real model but dosen't look perfect. Its the best I could do thoguh and it also dosent operate properly but oh well. Cheers 89James89)
Steffen_Dk Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I like that coaster/flat ride thing there in the last pic.
89James89 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 ^ that is this http://rcdb.com/ig2868.htm?picture=3. Yer the supports are a bit off but I'll see what I can do. Cheers 89James89
89James89 Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Replies: Steffen_Dk: Thanks I wasn't quite sure how it was going ot go down with you all but so far so good. Team Thriller: See above post. Season 2 Trip Report 2: Well this is just to show you the new area at night as well as a few random night pictures I liked of the park. Firstly this is the park sign which you couldn't really see very clearly from the last update. This next one shows the new entrance upgrades at night. Looks really really nice if you ask me. Finally before we get the new area pictures heres one of the bumper Cars glowing a cool blue colour. Now we get to the new area. Heres a picture of the cafe at night (OOC: I have no idea why the middle bit of the entrance looks that dark lol). The Racing Slides. These things have probaly been one of the most popualr rides in the park next to Ladybird and the Bumper Cars. This is probaly because of the high rates of ridership and the fact that a single ride is just 25p or 4 tickets for a £1. All in all a solid additon. And finally the new rollercoaster (yup according to the rcdb apparently it is a rollercoaster). This ride also has been very popular but due to its low rider turnover not as popualr as some of the other rides in the park but it was a cheap ride anyway and as it wasn't really planned the addition has done itself proud. (OOC: I've added some extra supporting to try and get it like the real thing. If you preferred the older style let me knwo and I'll change it back. I'ma bit undecided myself to be honest). Well thats all for now. Join me next time with a reivew of the year and hopefully a overview for you all. Remember to visit the park and leave some comments here if you can and maybe I'll meet you there!. Till next time. Jeremy Pelen (OOC: There ya go some nights pictres. Remember to leave feedback on the new supports and anything else you want to mention and thanks for all the comments. Cheers 89James89)
89James89 Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 End of Season Report Well I'm here for the end of the season report. I'm glad to say this season has been more successful than the last season. The new additions seem to have been really popular with the guests and the park hasmade more money than it did last season. The only problems they are having so far is Spiral Slide which is beginning to show some wear and tear and my Cousin has said they are planning on tearing it down and using the space for something else. My Cousin however hasn't said anything about any new additions apart from you will get wet. I look forward to seeing what he means when we visit in the off-season and will make sure to get some photos for you then but till then I leave you with this season 2 overview which clearly show the new additions in the top area of the park. Till next time. Jeremy Pelen (OOC: Yer I know its not even a day since the last update but oh well. Ihad this one ready so here ya go. Cheers 89James89)
Team Thriller Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I can't wait for next season. There is something about your park that I love. Don't stop the updates. --James
89James89 Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Replies: TeamThriller: Thanks Off Season update. Well went and visited my Coudin agin this year around christmas and boy was I in for a big suprise. I had been thinking over waht you will get wet could mean and there were several obvious choices and when I got there it didnt dissapoint. More on that in a minute though. As I said in the end of season report the Spiral Slide was getting a bit warn out come the end of the last season and as I had expected they've removed it in the off season. Standing in its place is a new Ice Cream shop which I think looks really nice. It also gives the place the feel of having a proper albeit small mainstreet which I think adds to the park really nicely. Anyway heres the picture. Coming up to the new attraction I was also shown some new game stalls which have been set up for the coming season. These look like fun. Now onto the big addition itself. As you can see not much of the track has been laid but it should be fairly obvious what the ride is. I wont say anyway just in case you can't work it out but it should be a lot of fun when it opens. The place looks like a construction site at the moment and these were the only two photos I could get you all. Well thats all. I can't wait till the start of next season. Till next time. Jeremy Pelen (OOC: Hope you like what you see being built it shouldn't be to hard to guess what it is. Cheers 89James89)
doublex98 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Looking very good dude! I cant wait until next season!
