IrishBuckeye
Greetings. This is actually my first post here. I have posted TR's at other forums before, and figured I would get my feet wet here, since you allow us to add pics. 6/17 was my 2nd visit to the park this season. went with the GF. The weather was great, and we again had a wonderful time. Arrived at 9:05 AM. Immediately proceeded to Raptor which we rode twice, almost walking straight onto the coaster each time. Fun Ride. After we were done, it was approximately 9:25. We figured we'd head to Millennium Force. When we got there, there appeared to be a long line, reaching far beyond the gate entrance. "Maybe the ride isn't running" we thought. Although later we discovered the ride was actually running. Maybe there was just too many people entering the shortened queue line, and there wasn't enough room for everybody. Next time we'll be sure to actually check out whats going on near the entrance. Decided to head towards maverick. Got there at about 9:50, and despite the park not being open to the public yet, the estimated wait on Maverick was posted as 45 minutes. (maybe a lot of other people bypassed MF and went straight there as well). 45 minutes of waiting is worth it for a ride on maverick, so we got on it and had a blast. then headed over to the Gemini, which was celebrating its 30th Birthday. We signed the posters (have no idea what CP is actually going to do with them). On the ride platform, they had a big disco ball, and all the employees working in the ride area had special t-shirts. By the end of the day, we had ridden it 4 times. Had lunch at chick-fil-a (expensive) , and a shake at coasters. Just like my earlier visit this year, I had no problems with customer service related areas. The weather was just perfect. It didn't rain at all, just a few slight sprinkles that wouldn't cause rides to close, and it was sunny 90% of the time. Temps were in the 60s with wind. Observation of the day: CP really needs something new for decorations along the CP/LE Railroad. "Boneville" has been around for 20 years, it seems. 2008 Ride Count - (2 Visits) Magnum - 6 MF - 2 Maverick - 3 Raptor - 3 Skyhawk - 3 Gemini - 6 Iron Dragon - 3 Wicked Twister - 1 Snake River - 2 Thunder Canyon - 1 The Lake, taken while going up the Magnum hill. the Red Garter Saloon. This, I think, was the coolest pic of the day, despite much of it being cut off. This is on the Maverick Platform. notice the "Canada Steamer" that was floating along, very close to the Maverick. Maverick Lift. Awesome element of the ride, in that it lifts you up there so fast (like 40MPH or somewhere around that) GF in front of Millennium Force Top Thrill Dragster, which we didn't ride, but hopefully will next time. Guest
Thanks for the report! These CP TR's are making me more excited to get back there in September! Did you notice if Wildcat re-opened yet?

Team Thriller
^ RCDB.com says it is. But you know how reliable that can be. Great pictures. Cedar Point Tr's are my favorite! --James

Little Coaster Girl
Me and my boyfriend was there the 17,18,19 and wildcat wasnt running then. I wish it would have been up and running by then but it wasnt. I am glad it is now. They were working on it on the 19th, but it looked like they were putting on a new chain, so we knew it wouldnt be open before we left. There seems to be quite a few people writing trip reports for the same days we were there. Nice to read them.
cprocks22
Nice TR! I think I saw you there, wish I was wearing a TPR shirt! I also got to sign the posters, they should display them or put them up in the station. The nerdy side of me found it awesome that I got to ride Gemini on it's 30th to the day. We didn't sit in a wheel seat and it was a great ride actually, compared to what I'm used to. Happy birthday Gemini!
ebl
<-- One day, this guy will get to Cedar Point. So, you're dating a lady called "GF," huh? Interesting name... Eric
Jim S.
On the subject of Gemini, how do they decide whether to use the trim brakes? We rode it on the 17th with the brakes on and it was still a great ride. Then on the 18th we got a couple of rides with the brakes off and you could practically get whiplash on that little helix right before you go back to the station. The funniest thing is, this is the only coaster I've ever seen that has a lighted sign in the station where everyone can see it to indicate the brake status. (It also seems to race much more fairly with the brakes off.) The other inconsistent thing going on that week was at Maverick. On the 17th, they were letting people pick their seats. On the 19th, they were assigning seats. (Luckily, there doesn't seem to be a bad seat on those short trains.)
FeelTheFORCE
This is just a guess, but with most coasters the computer decides on when to use the brakes based on the conditions. Gemini might be too old to have that system, or it might be a fairly new system installed fairly recently, I am not sure, but usually the conditions, such as the temperature, humidity, etc., decide on whether the trims should be used or not. Same goes for Mantis, I've been on it when the trim was off, I've been on it when it just lightly "taps" the train, and I've also been on it when it's on very hard, it all depends on the conditions at that time. IrishBuckeye
Nice TR! I think I saw you there, wish I was wearing a TPR shirt! In the pictures, I'm not wearing a TPR shirt. I'm wearing a "Maverick - First Rider" shirt. So, you're dating a lady called "GF," huh? Interesting name... lol. I guess I should make up a fake name. Since we put pictures of us on here, I'd rather not give out our real names, for now. We all know how this world is anymore.....
cprocks22
^Sorry I figured that would be confusing. I meant I wish I was wearing a TPR shirt so I had something noticeable on. I did see you walking around the park with the Maverick First Rider shirts on, but I had no idea you were on TPR.
IrishBuckeye
I actually registered here just 2 days ago, to post this TR and check out a different forum. but that's cool. I will be there tomorrow and sunday, in the late afternoon until close each time.

bpmitchell
I'm heading out to the point on July 14th, does anyone know if mondays are the park are busy or steady? I want to get a ride on some of the newer rides like maverick, and skyhawk or maxair. I haven't been to the park since 2004 so everything else I've already done numerous times, in addition to my 03 employment at the park.
