pianojohn Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Just returned from a trip to Ohio to see the family. Took a mini coaster trip to Toronto, Buffalo, and Erie. Enough chit chat....here are the pics! Ohio Trip June 2008 583.avi The Darien Lake Motocoaster launch Ohio Trip June 2008 585.avi And caught this clip of the "show" at Waldameer. Interesting! 'Til we meet again!! See? But Maverick is very pretty at sunset I still prefer Sheikra's 1st drop If only they would build one in Florida!! Ah.....Millenium Hey, here's a thought: fix it or get rid of it! But to leave it standing there with a million people walking by it does not seem right. Wildcat was still closed. Mantis....it looks good but the ride sucks!! See? Not too hard to find either. Right off Rt 6 They now serve Toft's Ice Cream in the park, but I prefer the original location in Sandusky. Cheaper and a better value! Gemini was actually racing!! Garbage can? Check! Oh....I also found this little fair down the road that had a few decent rides. : ) So you go down the road to take pics of the bridge and first drop. It's a great coaster, but not easy to photograph. The line looked long, but I ended up getting 4 rides in about an hour. Final coaster of the day: Ravine Flyer II. And the trains rattled terribly There was more straight track than the defunct Sky Streak from Boblo Island! Also got my Ride of Steel credit. It was closed last year when I visited. But why is it that this ride and SFA's version suck compared to SFNE? Couldn't they have built three amazing rides? Coming into the station with Viper in the background. The next day I was off to Darien Lake for my Motocoaster credit. Fun ride, but nothing more than an ok launch and lots of figure eights. And exit The best shots of Behemoth are from the parking lot And one more Smile for Elissa! See? And saw this cute groundhog nibbling leaves! He was oblivious to the human world...which led to some good pics! Took some shots of Skyrider from right in front of it. Loved the Scooby Haunted Mansion, but this had to be the slowest moving line ever. Seriously...about a 45 minute wait with only 30 people in front of me. Scooby and I looking for snacks. And why doesn't Cedar Point have one of these?? Love the first drop on Behemoth Finally rode Sledgehammer. It looks scarier than it actually is. Anyone know if this ride is anywhere else in the states? That's Mr. Ass to you! This sign was across the street by the Subway shop. I think some letters may have gone missing. Dora and I at the fountains Ah..no shows today. Skyrider was looping Vortex was swinging The park has a Coasters Diner. And I skipped this one like I do at all other Cedar Fair parks. Behemoth would get two thumbs up, but my other thumb was holding the camera! The line looked long, but thanks to awesome ride ops, I never waited more than 20 minutes!! Behemoth! It was kind of windy and cool....but I needed the credit of.... Tim Horton's has the best frozen coffee beverages! And after waking up at 5am to drive from Cleveland to Toronto, I need all the help I can get!
Olsor Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Great TR, John! Enthusiast Groundhog sure travels a lot. I spotted him at SFGAdv last August. Enthusiast Groundhog at SFGAdv 2007
RedLeg21 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hey do you need a passport to drive into Canada or can you get buy with a birth certificate and driver's liscense?
PCW_Nut Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Sledge Hammer is a Huss Jump2 and to my knowledge, we have the only one in the world up here at Canada's Wonderland...may be a good thing too because its been having a LOT of downtown this year. It truly is a sight to look at, but once you're on the ride, protect your ears and get ready to yawn...not the best in the park or best flat I've been on for sure. Glad you enjoyed your trip and glad to hear more and more positive reviews of Behemoth. All the time we waited for a hyper and we got one, and a damn good one at that! - Josh
SeaWhippet Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hey do you need a passport to drive into Canada or can you get buy with a birth certificate and driver's liscense? When I drove over in May, the Canadian border guard didn't ask for any ID at all. I was surprised. On the way back, my DL got me back into the US. No problem. However, it's always a good bet to keep your passport with you anytime you leave the country ... even to Canada or Mexico. -S
TheRapidsNerd Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Wow! 20 minute Behemoth wait? That's great! And pics with the Canadian Enthusiast Groundhog are winners. Enjoyed this one. Thank you.
Carnage Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hey do you need a passport to drive into Canada or can you get buy with a birth certificate and driver's liscense? Birth certifcate and drivers license is enough, though passport is preffered. 2009 though is when it's supposed to change to passport required.
tnguy Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Cool Pictures. Groundhogs are always good to include in TRs.
kris182_2000 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Great review and awesome pictures. I was there today and the day was washed out by a freak thunderstorm complete with hail and flooding. But got a few coasters in, so that's all that mattered. Glad you had good weather when you were here.
