  1. Photos to follow in the coming days, right now I have to go through them. I got back about 4 hours ago, and really wasn't going to get online tonight, but what the heck. My first official trip review. I didn't write down anything that happened, so this will be pretty chaotic. We left Toronto Friday morning at 3:30am, it was nice to drive on an empty highway. It started to rain a bit before we got to Windsor, but it didn't last very long. The wait at the border was pretty non-existent, and that was great. We arrived at the camp site at around 10:30am, and checked in and set up. We decided later in the day to hit CP for some pics and maybe a few rides. I've seen pictures and video of the park, and have read up on it, but nothing prepares you for the sight of the park in real life. It's just unbelievable. On Saturday we were up pretty early, and got to the park just after it opened. We started on the tame rides, to get ourselves used to them. Sunday was a bit more of the bigger rides and some time at the waterpark. We enjoyed the waterpark as it was so warm, which was a great surprise for us. Monday was our anniversary and we rode the bigger rides like Magnum XL and Maverick and Mean Streak. We loved them, Mean Streak is my new favorite ride ever. Tuesday was our day for re-rides, and more pictures. We packed up this morning to come home, took us 8 hours to get home, I was so tired so I took my time driving home. So, that's it until I can get 3 memory cards full of pics sorted out. Pics will follow over the next couple of days as I have time to post them. All in all, this was a great trip, lots of fun, laughter and excitement. We are definitely going back next year for a longer trip, and we'll be heading to other parks as well. Wonderland definitely pales in comparison to Cedar Point, and I don't think I want to go to Wonderland again, lol.
  2. Well, 2 more sleeps until I go. Unfortunately a damper was placed on the trip in the form of my car dying and having to be repaired, so we're only going to CP. I'd like to hit KI, but the travel may be too much. Does anyone know how long it takes to drive to KI from CP? I'd like to work it into my plans if I can, I really want to try Firehawk. I will post pics and a TR when I return, but probably not until the weekend as I have to go right back to work when I return, unless it rains, lol. Anyways, I'm looking forward to this, my first road trip.
  3. Looks like you all had an awesome time. Wish I could have been there.
  4. Glad you guys are all having fun, I love reading the TR's. Enjoy.
  5. I'm aware of the distance, I'm just trying to figure out how to plan our days. I'm now thinking of different plans for the trip. I'm thinking of the following: Friday, drive down from Toronto to Cedar point instead of Darien Lake and Waldameers, then go to the campground. Saturday, spend the day at CP. Sunday spend the day at CP. Monday go to KI. Tuesday go back to CP Wednesday hit Waldameers and Darien Lake on the way home. I just hope the weather holds for all of that.
  6. I'm full of questions, haha. I'm not sure if this would be wise on an already busy trip, but what about a detour to King's Island? Given that I'm the only one driving, does anyone think this is a good idea? If the plan is Darien Lake, and Waldameer on the first day(Friday), CP on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, KI on Tuesday, then home on Wednesday, is this over doing it? Or even KI on Monday, and back to CP on Tuesday.
  7. Twice at the most I think for that. I'm almost so bold as to schedule it in on the way down. 4 coaters at Darien Lake in the morning, then the 2, possibly 3 at Waldemeer, then drive to the campground. That would make for a full day on the way down. And, I'm just waiting to hear back from the campground, but we may be able to get a night free thanks to their special packages. Now that would be awesome.
  8. Ok, so a slight change of plans, lol. Advice on this change of plans is much appreciated. I will look at the routing through NY/PA, and have a question or more about that. Edit: That's a bonus as we can drive the toll highway all the way down to Hamilton and maybe leave just a little later, or, we'll get to the US border a little earlier in the morning. 1st, we decided, spur of the moment, that we will hit Darien Lake and Wladameer's as well, BUT, when to do them? We will be leaving Scarborough at around 4am Friday morning to beat city traffic, which is horrible here. Now, do we do Darien Lake on the way down since it's open earlier? Do we hit Waldameer's on the way back on Wednesday afternoon? The pricing puts us only about $100 over our original budget, something easy to afford still Another question about Waldameer, is the all day ride purchase better than buying individual ride tickets just to ride the coasters? We'd only be doing Ravine Flyer and Comet there, and I'm not sure if we'd do them more than once.
  9. Really wish I could make it. It's too bad I already planned my trip. Oh well, there's always next time.
  10. Well, the KOA site confirms that the quickest route is through Detroit/Windsor. I'll have to get more accurate construction info closer to the time of our trip. We'll be leaving pretty early in the morning.
  11. We weren't planning on stopping anywhere else, we have time constraints and a tight budget. I'm budgeting for mileage too, so I really don't want to go off course if I can help it.
  12. We don't have a camper, so we've decided on Bayshore Estates, it's a KOA campground. We want the shortest route to Ohio, so which one is that, Buffalo or Detroit? I've done CAA trip tix and it's come up with Detroit/Windsor as being the shortest at just under 600KM's, I think 361 miles.
  13. It's official, this trip is on. Now, before I confirm any plans, I just want to follow up on a few things. 1. According to something I read recently(it I think was a Google directions map), the Cedar Point Causeway does indeed have a toll. Can someone who goes there frequently please confirm if this is the case? And if we have platinum passes are the toll fees waived? 2. Anyone know about the construction around the Detroit/Windsor border? Is this still going on? I read about it recently. I'll be looking into the campground and what I need to do to book a site there.
  14. Well sad to say, because there was no update as of yet, I've made my plans for that day. I'll be on my Cedar Point trip from the 1st to the 5th or 6th. Oh, and when I went on July 1st, to answer a question from a previous page, yes the falls were running at the top of the mountain on the Vortex side, just not on Canada day, but there was still a lot of water on the top to indicate as much.
  15. Were ALL the waterfalls back on, or just the upper ones on the front of the mountain? There are also a few on the back where Vortex's lift is and I'm wondering if those are back on too. I never went on Vortex so I don't know if the back ones were on, all I saw were the front ones.
