Théo the little french Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Great ride! I loved the layout and the tower! But don't the trains go too much slowly at the top of the tower? A little advice: use the smoother in your curves, it will be better and softer!
Sasquatch Posted May 24, 2008 Author Posted May 24, 2008 The trains go slowly at the top of the tower partly because thats the way S&S design their Thrust Air coasters, and partly to eliminate dangerously high negative Gs in the back seat, going down the other side of the tower. I did use the smoother on the curves, but made it so the train jiggles a little going round them, to emulate the bouncing of the rubber tires that this type of coaster uses. This is also why coasters like HyperSonic XLC are rough, because of the flex in the tires. Anyway, thanks for commenting!
Loefet Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 ^ Then why do you have the nut-busting airtime on them? -1.5 or so is a good number to aim for.
Sasquatch Posted May 24, 2008 Author Posted May 24, 2008 I didnt aim that high because Thrust Air coasters only reach -0.8 or -1g at the most. It feels more extreme than it really is. But there is still some kick ass airtime on it, more than alot of intamin coasters!
DBru Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Nice coaster! I commend you on spending a lot of time on the towers; they turned out GREAT!
Loefet Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 I didnt aim that high because Thrust Air coasters only reach -0.8 or -1g at the most. It feels more extreme than it really is. But there is still some kick a$$ airtime on it, more than alot of intamin coasters!Do you have any proof of this?, and many Intamin coasters have more then -1 g over the hills. And Dodonpa (which I have ridden) have even more.
Sasquatch Posted May 24, 2008 Author Posted May 24, 2008 No i dont have proof, but judging from the radius of the tower on HyperSonic (which is about the same as mine, maybe a little smaller) and how fast the train goes over it, thats how i figured it out. Sure, it probably isnt exact, but IMO anything more than -1g is a bit pointless anyway, in the same way that anything over 6g is a little pointless too.... well maybe not in the same way but you get the idea
IwantRevenge Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Nice ride, But would'nt a Intamin Hyper be more realistic for the train/track type?
King of Ka Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 It's B&M train and track, so it wouldn't work for an Intamin hyper very well. And it's probably the most appropriate track for an S&S Thrust Air, as No Limits doesn't come with the actual Thrust Air track.
IwantRevenge Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 ^ Yes I realize... But the S&S train have small lap bars, and 2 seats rows. So while the trian wont have the flexibility of a B&M hyper train a 3 train intamin car will have smiliar capacity and restriants as a real Thrust train. Then use the 4 tube track for realistic track.
King of Ka Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Oh, I see. I'd thought you'd meant that the track used would have worked better for an Intamin hyper. Sorry about that!
