WFChris Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 ^ Seems that you can discover a lot of neat stuff by just looking to the left! Chris.
cathyJ Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Back in the early 90's when Disney cancelled plans for Disney's America in Northern Virginia...another town some 50 or so miles away contacted Disney and told them they could build in their county..no questions asked !!! No politics..no protests...nothing !!! Pretty much Disney could do what they wanted. And the taxes Disney would have had to pay..next to nothing. The town was Martinsburg, West Virginia. Disney said no anyway. Over the years I have heard two reasons why. 1. Disney never really was serious about the project anyway. 2. Had Disney said yes, the park would have had to been built outside Martinsburg town limts in Berkeley County. Problem? Berkeley County has NO zoning whatsoever ( if they do now it must have changed within the last year ). Disney could have done whatever they wanted on the land they owned but other than that....no say. In other words had Disney went there, an adult book store or strip club could have opened up right next door and there wouldn't be anything Disney could do about that if they would had decided to build in Berkeley County. Come to think of it I believe there was a city in North Carolina who offered the same thing ( build here... no questions asked ). I think it was Raleigh or Cary but that part I am not sure.
holidayworld08 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Did you know that the when they were getting second train for the Raven at Holiday World, they considered painting the train black instead of red?
DRACHEN_FIRE_FAN-BOY Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Did you know that astroworldfan1 was half way right: "XLR8 was the first successful Arrow Suspened coaster in the world. " Big Bad Wolf also opened the year of 1984 (sorry it was just bothering me) (In addition to two posts above me [cathyJ]) did you know in Charlottesville, Virginia, there was supposed to be a Disney area devoted to all the former presidents, and governmental figures, and the board of supervisors shot down the idea. (weird, isn't it?) Did you know that: -Loch Ness Monster was the first Arrow to feature inter-locking loops, and is the last left. -Drachen Fire was supposed to be built by B&M -Drachen Fire was the first (and I believe only) Arrow Coaster to feature the wrap-around corkscrew, the "Batwing" aka "Cobra Roll", diving corkscrew, and Arrow Cutback. -Did you know that: Shockwave at King's Dominion is the only TOGO stand up in the USA that has a different ending from it's predecessors (King Cobra, and SkyRider), but, it has the same model name. And was also the only one out of the three that never had a dark green spine. -Did you know that in the Que line for Volcano; the blast coaster, you can still see track for the Smurf Mountain coaster. (last did you know form me, I hope) -did you know that: the Hurler at King's Dominion was supposed to feature a stage for live music to perform. It's a shame that never happened...
carolinacaniac Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 While the stage for live music around Hurler would be pretty cool, I would imagine that if they actually did it, it would be had to follw the show sometimes as the coaster is pretty loud and the screams would have an effect as well.
thrillseaker92 Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 A Country recording artist, I believe Kenny Chesney, shot a music video at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Yeah I know *sigh* I think that's why they scrapped that idea. IMO they now need to use the "bank-the-first-turn-after-the-drop" idea
