BeemerBoy Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I guess San Antonio finally got the memo that the second round of the playoffs were going on, because they actually looked interested in playing....and winning last night. As for the C's, I know Cleveland's not dead yet, and you can't keep LeBron down like that forever. I'm hoping for a split in Cleveland. It's nice to see 'em hand out a beatdown like that though. And in saying that, I should also give props to LeBron for the way he handled himself. I'm really impressed by this guy. He took a beating like a man, made no excuses, and was even out on the floor as the final buzzer sounded, giving his teammates encouragement. Nice change of pace from the usual NBA image. Hmm, maybe this league really is changing for the better.
BeemerBoy Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 ^ Hope you don't say the same for me after tonight.
stingrock23 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 The theme of the playoffs - Home Court wins. It's just amazing how much different the games are at each team's home court. Everything that could go right for the Spurs last night did. The Hornets didn't deserve to win since they played so badly, but it's funny how in SA the Spurs are allowed to play physical, but the Hornets aren't.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 ^That's just the advantage of being the Spurs. They're the defending champs and have veteran experience. In the eyes of the officials New Orleans is a young team that has talent and plays well, but makes "amature" mistakes. I am not saying that this is acually the case, but we know that in the world of sports, as well as everything else, reputation is everything. The Spurs are coming in this series as the favorite to win up until they receive two more losses. Simply put, It's hard to play the role of underdog.
BeemerBoy Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 The theme of the playoffs - Home Court wins. I guess it's good that the C's had the best overall record then. Considering the trend, I guess it's okay if that continues all the way through June.
Wes Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 ^ You better hope that trend continues after the way you guys have been playing on the road.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 If the Celts let that trend continue, it will ultimately seal their fate. Any team that meets with them in the west is capable of winning one game in Boston.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 I should add that the Pistons look capable of winning in Bean-town. Paul Pierce was phenominal yesterday, but Ray Allen was a hugh non-factor. They still won, and I guess thats all that matters for now. It will however become a factor at some point.
RIP Psyclone Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Here's hoping New Orleans gets the W tonight. I say that both because the Spurs have been a painful thorn in the side of the Lakers for quite a long time now, and who really wants the Spurs to advance any further besides their loyal fans? No one wants a Pistons/Spurs Finals again.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 ^Pistons V. Spurs in 2008 Finals No offense. No flashy dunks Very few turnovers. Both teams averaging 72 ppg.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 ^If that were the case. I'm praying until my knees are bloody that the Lakers and Celts meet in the Finals.
BeemerBoy Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 ^ Trust me, you're not alone. David Stern is praying for it as well.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Let's just hope that in the outcome of a Laker parade, we don't see the events that happened back in 2002 (two stabbings and TONS of fights at the near-by train stop) _____________________________________________________________ As the comissioner, let's hope he fixes the series to reflect this match up...Just kidding...or am I?
stingrock23 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 ^Don't worry, there won't be a parade this year. Unless they have a parade for being the Western Conference runners-up. By the way, if they show someone with a teal head and giant purple glasses tonight, that will be me.
Wes Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 ^ Trust me, you're not alone. David Stern is praying for it as well. He doesn't have to pray, he just tells the refs to make bad calls in favor of the Celtics.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 ^Which goes back to my plan of fixing the whole thing
stingrock23 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I just hope Joey Crawford is one of the refs tonight
Wes Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 ^Don't worry, there won't be a parade this year. Unless they have a parade for being the Western Conference runners-up. Soooooo....what kind of parade do you guys throw for second round exits?
stingrock23 Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 A pretty big one. We throw a parade for just about anything. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. The 3rd quarter just killed them. Tonight showed they just weren't ready. They really need a bench
