kraken613 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Hey I just got back from Dollywood! I'm not doing a long intro because I took so many pictures! I got all your bases covered though! These are in order of taking them too. The train was still closed.... I got I got 15 rides on Tornado, 2 on Mystery Mine, and 6 on Thunderhead. I guess that means 13 more till 200 rides on Thunderhead! Ill get those 13 when I go back next Friday! Please post what you think! And any thing that you want to know that I didnt show.... Also anything you want me to look into next week when I do. Some of the pictures might not be the best because still learning how to do everything on my new camera. Lets begin! These are the new restrooms Underside of one of MM's trains If you spot the train they are experiencing ejector right now. Huss flat ride. What ever I dont like spinning. Ive done it once and thats enough! The line infront of me. Yeah I got the first train out for the day. My first ride of the day! This shot would have been so cool but I got pushed by someone... End of Day One Mystery Mine shots from its wait. They are about to get some ejector! Its an Arrow sign of Quality! Its true for this ride! Coaster wheel! And you can kinda spot the chain dog. Mmmmm...... Arrow track! The new back of Blazing Fury. You might not be able to see in this picture but it really looks like they used some left over Mystery Mine paint. Random shot of Mystery Mine whil walking over to TN Tornado This is what I like to see! To bad it was almost the end of the day by then! Theres some air to be found for those people! She wasnt running the best she could Wensday. THUNDERHEAD! I love this ride. Whats that I see? HANGTIME I love that element. By the wat Mystery Mine is running alot smoother this season it seems. Still alittle bumpy but it was a large improvement for my 2 rides one in the front and one in the back. You can get some nice pictures of all this now. I wasnt didnt feel like waiting for a train Theres going to be a bunch of Mystery Mine now. One of the new views of Mystery Mine. They should have done something to the back. You get pretty wet here. Especially if someone puts their hand in those water jets. Thanks little kid who sat next to me! It sure does look really nice though. Just some overviews its really detailed if you havnt noticed Look in the station The other River Battle sign You can see the tops of 3 buildings The new Lye Soap shop in Wilderness Pass Well thats where they are expanding I bet. They all look happy on an Arrow More goodness TT's train from the back of the station Tried to get some coaster porn didnt work to great though. But its though a hole.... The story. Not to bad with 2 train op. But then the took one train off....... Arrow goodness! No really im not joking! The facts! Tennessee Tornado's station The new bird building The new simulator its really rough now! Aunt Granny's! Random paths and Dollywood niceness! The station and train of Blazing Fury Fire in the Hole! Thats what they say when the train leaves! I really do love this ride for the charm it has! Loopage! One of the few good Arrows in the world! Heres how much wait they have. Another Overview. I have better ones later. First overviews Let the battle begin! Mystery Mine was closed when we first got there. Station fly by goodness! These used to be trees so it works right..... GCI goodness! That coaster is THUNDERHEAD! Timber Canyon my favorite coasters up there! I pass the Bush Beans Plant on the way to Dollywood!
kraken613 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Cont. The back of the map. Ok thats the end! Ill have another Dollywood TR next weekend when I go again then! The new maps..... They are ok. They look nicer but they dont list everything on the actual picture. Dosnt matter to me I know where everthing is anyways. The last picture of the park. Wait.... Is that what I think it is! Yes, a broken Huss ride. The wait in the single rider line was about a 10th of that line! The warnigns sign.... Dollywood even has single rider line on River Battle! This was like my Arrow ERT later in the day aroung 1! The only picture I have from DareDevil Falls. Aunt Granny's! You just have to eat here! You might now be able to see it but I was soaked from a 2nd trip on River Battle Rhythme of the Dance! I like this show glad its back again. More paths I seem to always take this same shot. Dollywood charm Heres some random Dollywood paths.... They had birds in the new building today. I love this ride too. I love two train operation I didnt get my camera out fast enough but about 5 dump trucks and a few someother contruction equipment speed tword the loop. Thunderhead 35 minutes. I walked down to see what the lines where. Mystery Mine 45 minutes. Theres lots of trucks and people walking up twords the train loop area. Blazing Furys outside. Yes and a mostly empty station awaited me! You could see it better but those guys walk in right as I was about to take my picture. Whats that I see? Half empty trains on TN Tornado? Another view twords the upper area. I wish the train was open! Look in the station Some of the details A nice overview The loading area. It loads one boat and unloads one behind it. The theming in the station/wait building. This thing really looks nice. At about 10:20 these where the only people on the ride. So I went to ride so I would get wet from other people. This pictures is for Pufferfish
Voyage_luvr Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Why did Dollywood get a second simulator ride? Last time I was there they had opened one called The Smokey Mountain Adventure and you were on Dolly's cousin Clovis' crazy flying machine.
kraken613 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 It was replaced by this simulator ride. This was actully there originally before the Wilderness Adventure.
Voyage_luvr Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 It was replaced by this simulator ride. This was actully there originally before the Wilderness Adventure. Hmm... I kinda liked the Wilderness Adventure one. I liked how the machine shot water out from the front of the building and the pre-show was pretty cool.
nagro5 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I went here a few years ago, but I don't remember much about it. I only remember a few of the rides. River Battle looks like a great ride, and it's even better because the whole family can enjoy it. I love how they make you feel like you're in some type of cartoon. These pictures make me want to go back. Great TR!
coasterfreaky Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Great pics Kraken! I like the station pics of River Battle. Did you get attacked by the clock in the station? We didn't venture down to the eagle section, so we missed that entirely. Glad you got some pics of that. I wonder what's going on in the upper loop, and i wonder if that has anything to do with the train not running?? Maybe the train tracks are blocked or removed???? Curious!
kraken613 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 No, what does the clock do? Im hoping the train will be open next Friday when I go back.
ernierocker Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I really do hope they put another major attraction along Wilderness Pass next year. Looks like it was pretty crowded yesterday.
ETapley0687 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Great TR!!! The park looks nice and you took some great pics. The park did look pretty full. I don't think I've ever been there when the lines are coming out of the rides actual line, not even for MM. So glad there is a connection now. Can't wait to go! How was the weather when you were there?
Pufferfish Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Great TR man. I need to get up there sometime soon when Dollywood's open, it seems everytime I'm in the area it's closed. Anyways, what no picture of Dolly?
kraken613 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Puffer I added a picture of Dolly for you! These lines where nothing compared to last time I went around Christmas. The weather was good kinda cloudy both days so not the best for taking pictures. It still seems that not alot of people make it back to TN Tornado. It always had a 20 minute or less wait even at the times they were running one train.
coasterdude5 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Great trip report, the new area looks like a great addition.
ParkTrips Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 let's see... this year's maps versus the old maps with blocks of varying size indicating an attraction.. hmmm
ginzo Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Wait.... Is that what I think it is! Yes, a broken Huss ride. Does that POS ever work?
Team Thriller Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Nice pictures. Like the one of Dolly Parton, she doesn't look like she is dieing like the last one you showed me. Hope you had a blast! --James
kraken613 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 ^ LOL Glad you all liked my TR. Timber Tower was running in the morning and went down in the afternoon.
scruffy Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 ^LOL Glad you all liked my TR. Timber Tower was running in the morning and went down in the afternoon. Just be glad you did not get stuck on Timber Tower I was up their for a good half hour. Did they let you get any rerides on Thunder Head? Great trip report
kraken613 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Thunderhead had a good 20 minute wait each day. I got six rides on my trip 13 short from 200. TN Tornado on the otherhand had a 0-15 minute wait both days! I rode Tornado about 4 times in the back without having to get off. Mystery Mine had a good 45 minute wait both days so I mainly rode TN Tornado alot on my trip.
astroworldfan1 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Aswome pictures David!!!! Is Thunderhead still smooth?? And, why wasen't the train open? Maintaince issues? It's not as good without a ride on the authentic steam locomotive! -Tatum "great pictures" G. (P.S. Goliath (SFoG) is better than Apolo's Chariot!)
Tanks4me05 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Ok, I have a question that wasn't answered yet on my Dollywood tips thread (the thread looks dead) - how reliable are these rides on a regular basis? Do they run worse in different weather conditions?
kraken613 Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 All Dollywoods rides are maintained and almost always running and they have a wonderful maintnece staff and great ride ops! Thunderhead is always great. Im just picky on how it runs because Ive ridden it so many times. Almost everytime its wonderful. It can have off days everyonce and awhile though. Not often so dont worry. TN Tornado is always a wonderful Arrow. Its wonderful when they do two train operation theres never a wait even with one train they get them out fast. On my trip I was riding it so much the fastest they put a full train out was under 45 seconds. Mystery Mine is always running most the time they just had some trouble at the begining of this season. Its line moves fast with the 7 trains Timber Tower is the one ride thats down alot. Dollywood really does have some of the best ride ops out there. They arnt teens or stupid. They always pump people through very fast. I think they are also some of the fastest at putting people through.
Tanks4me05 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 When you say Timber Tower is down a lot, do you mean something similar to Deja Vu (almost never running) or is it more on and off operation, so therefore still able to get a ride in a short (in terms of operating hours) mid October day?
kraken613 Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 ^ Its not as bad as Deja Vu! Its just down everyonce and awhile which is unlike Dollywood rides. The only prolonged down time was when it got stuck for a long time that one time last year and was down for a few months. That was an unusual thing though.
ETapley0687 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 ^ Yea I can back him up on this. Although Timber Tower is down the most, it isn't as bad as Deja Vu. It's only been down once or twice in all the trips I've been to Dollywood.... and those are countless lol.
