cherry_chez Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 In early December my brother and I am planning a major holiday, probably 1-2 weeks. This will be my first trip outside Australia and I was wondering which theme park or country would be the best to go to. Thanks.
Tanks4me05 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 That depends. If you wan freaking huge coasters, go to the USA. If you want some REALLY weird and unique park experiences, go to Asia, most notably Japan. If you want a bit more of a balance between the two, try Europe. I have never been outside the Eastern USA myself, save for a couple trips to Ontario Canada, and a Disney Cruise to Nassau and Castaway Cay, but that is what I have observed from countless photos, videos and comments from many other people.
Brad Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Well, I believe that the time of year definitely should be a factor on your trip. If you do go to the US in December, your parks will be limited to Florida and SoCal for the coasters. It should be a good time to visit the Orlando area as early December is rather quiet and you get all the holiday celebrations at the parks! I'm not positive, but I would imagine most parks in Japan/South Korea would be closed during this time as well (especially around Tokyo/Seoul).
SharkTums Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 ^The parks in Japan are almost all year round. The time they close is usually late January - early February.
sfotkid Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 ^ Wait, With the time change isnt that like the middle of summer?
Team Thriller Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 ^ Wait, With the time change isnt that like the middle of summer? No, because I think Japan is in the Northern Hemisphere, which would still mean it has winter and summer the same times America does. --James
Brad Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 ^ Wait, With the time change isnt that like the middle of summer? It's not time change that affects seasons, it's what hemisphere you are in.
Groteslurf Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I would recommend Orlando, Florida too : the wheather should be ok (and no shock coming from your summer in December), you have 7 major themeparks + 4 waterparks at close distance + BGA & waterpark in Tampa.
cherry_chez Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions. I've been going to the same 3 parks for the past 20 years. They haven't really changed that much over the years, and they seem pretty lame compared to the parks I've found on this site, so I'm stoked about this trip.
cherry_chez Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Yes. There are some good rides there, but I've been so often that all of them seem so tame and repetitive.
rollerboy Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Yeah Giant Drop scared the S#@& out of me the first time i rode it LOL

However, speaking as a west coaster who admittedly has never been to Florida, I would recommend California. Orlando Florida is theme park central, but Southern California has Los Angeles and San Diego. There's more than just theme parks, I'm sure anyone who hasn't been to the US before would love to see Hollywood.
upfrontjwash Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Hey guys, i'm going to Ohio, New Jersey, and Minneapolis, and i was wondering what theme parks i should go to? PS. i'm going this summer.
