Divv3k
Every winter the largest indoor carnival in Europe comes to Glasgow and being Scottish and being in Glasgow for Christmas I obviously had to check it out. Another reason was that it gave me a chance to catch up with Scott (Fallen Heretic) who I hadn't seen since rooming with him on the Midwest trip and I also got to meet another Scottish member - Steven (Cobra-roll06). It's always good to go to the carnival with some fun people since the fair ground rides aren't generally my cup of tea. Well, the two credits there might be my cup of tea. I hadn't been to the carnival for a few years and it looks like I didn't missed much. The standards seem to have slipped all over the shop. When we got there we went to try and buy our entry vouchers at the box office only to be told to go somewhere else to get them, who in turn told us to go to yet another place. This is just one example of the disorganised staffing we continuously witnessed throughout our visit. I don't want to be too negative though. Scotland doesn't have much park wise so the carnival is a welcome addition, especially at this time of year. As part of your £10 entry fee you get ten vouchers each good to get you on one ride. For a guy like me who doesn't like spinning rides it was hard to find much to do with them past the two coasters. They weren't much exciting for coasters either. A wacky worm and a small spinning coaster, although they did afford Scott and I to relive the "lift hill dance" of the Midwest trip. There was a crappy fun house too which looked good from the outside but had too much stretches of walking and even a cattle pen right in the middle of it. Most of the other rides were spin and spews. Anyway despite the Irn-Bru Carnival not being so Divv-friendly I still had a great time. It was really good to catch up with Scott again and great to meet Steve too (who has kindly donated a few photos since my camera battery died before we left). Here's some photos... That'll do it from the carnival. Thanks for reading! Group photo. Me (Divv3k), Scott (Fallen Heretic) and Steven (Cobra_roll06). Scott tries his best not to lose any limbs on the way down. More slide POV! Steven in the background appears to be quite ready to consume Divv's head! Scott and Steven pick up their free souvenir doormats! The Super Fun Happy Slide seemed like a good way to round off our visit. Not to be outdone by any other carny. The Irn-Bru carnival has plenty of counterfeit cuddly toys to win. The drop tower was probably the best ride on offer. Giving a long programme and a bit of willy-lift too. Although Scott and Steven had a go. Bouncy bouncy couldn't even tempt me. The chair-o-planes were about as spinny as I wanted to get. The spinning rides were pretty much all past by. Steven can't get over how much fun he had in the fun house! Slide POV! Like the cattle pen! Steven can't wait to sample the stories of fun that await. The fun house looked like loads of fun from the outside. This ride was not Divv approved. Scott looks forward to the final turn into the brakes which was great for realigning our spines. The next stop was the spinning coaster. Yes Steven. You are sad and pathetic. The first stop has to be the kiddie credit. Every Christmas the Irn-Bru Carnival takes up hall 4 at the SECC.
RIP Psyclone
I really like the industrial warehouse look of that exhibition hall, the ducts and all!
palmerleeberry
That photo trip big time!!! It would make sense to host the carnival indoors since this is still winter time and anyone who'll be crazy enough to ride a spinning ride in the wintertime deserves to be turned into an ice cube. Why don't we have this in America (and if we do, then how come I didn't know about it?) I'll end with another
cobra_roll06
Hey man, great pics. Some of mine managed to turned out ok! Was a really good day, i'm just glad we got to the Wacky Worm when no one else was around! Was really cool meeting with you and Scott. We'll need to do it again. Hopefully I will be making an appearance on the Europe trip!

Fallen Heretic
Was great to see you again Div, and great to meet you too Steven. I dont expect much from the Carnival, but you really need fun people with you to have a good time. Not a place to fly solo. Slides still hate me it seems. After loosing on every slide on the Midwest trip, I now get lodged in the funhouse slide, and get my backside burned when I lost my mat off the end of the Happy Fun slide. And the Top Spin made me sick. And I arrived three hours late. other than that, it was a good time. Just one thing...how do I manage to look drunk in every photo? Divv3k
Cheers for the kind words folks! Yeah Chrissie, we'll do Loudoun or M&Ds one time when I'm back in Scotland and they're open. It was a shame you couldn't make it to the carnival. Scott, it's not just in photos that you look perpetually drunk. You did the top spin after we left? Fallen Heretic
Yup. I had a few tickets still to burn, so I made the mistake of going on. Ive been on Top Spins before, not really my thing, but this one was just...worse, somehow. For some reason the restraint seemed much more uncomfortable when I was hanging. thecoasterkid
Nice stuff guys! Glad to see more people from the Mid-West trip still getting together. Hopefully I'll see you guys again in the not too distant future. We don't even get any winter carnivals like that in Canada, so what you've got is better than nothing!
