coaster1 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I say why don't we all calm down .. let the people do their work and not bother them .. ensure it works .. let the state say OK .. then ride .. you press them or bother them .. they will not enjoy this. I'm certain nothing is wrong with the engineering of the ride or the design, just little construction mishaps that occur when you have to build something piece by piece instead of having pre-made sections to bolt together.
fmulder21 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 They used a chain pulley to move the train off the hill...I heard it zoom by the front...The train didn't make it back to the station. If vallied again on the hill closest to the bay. It look like it *almost* didn't make it through the banked turn under the drop but it did... PS: I'm setting up a fuel recovery charge I live 20 miles away.
Fisherman Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 WOW...so I guess now they have to remove it car by car again...or maybe they can push it through somehow... I thought for sure it would make it to the station once they pushed it over... -Derek
fmulder21 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 It vallied again at the bottom of the hill, I don't know they might use the same method with pullys and hold it at the top of the hill (after they install anti roll backs) and push it though again.
ErinBrookeTX Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Which hill did it not clear? Anyone has a picture of the hill by the bay?
RussellHammondnholt Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I just got back from Kemah a few minutes ago. The train was on the ground and workers were on the track. So... I doubt any testing will be done today.
fmulder21 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I just got back from Kemah a few minutes ago. The train was on the ground and workers were on the track. So... I doubt any testing will be done today. It's not the first train is it? THe other train dissapeared in the back of the ride. You can't see it from the front nor from the back.
RussellHammondnholt Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'm not sure which train it was. Here are some crappy picts:
coaster1 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'm VERY surprised they didn't perform a pull through prior in order to make track gauge adjustments since it's such a compacted space.
ErinBrookeTX Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 So they haven't removed the second train that vallied yet? What is a pull thru?
fmulder21 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 So they haven't removed the second train that vallied yet? What is a pull thru?No second train vallied at 11am, Probably due to lack of momentum.(the train was 75% off the 3rd hill when it moved.
coaster1 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Pull throughs are used to check track gauges and as well as clearences sometimes. Although they do have PVC frames to check clearences, the pull through is used to check the tracks for any adjustments that may hinder the trains path through the track. It's used on steel coasters alot .. and requires the used of a crane most of the time, but I can't see a reason one couldn't of been performed here, aside from cost.
Fisherman Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 So I'm a bit confused...where exactly did the train come to rest this last time? Did it make it up the 4th hill? -Derek
ErinBrookeTX Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 What does it look like? Is it a machine or what? Just curious.
coaster1 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 It's a car of the train or sometimes the entire train connected to a crane and secured to sections via the supports and track.
fmulder21 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I have no idea what the hill it got stuck on goes to... Blue is where i saw the train/assume and the red is where it was stuck/vallied.
lorddoonga Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Has anyone ever "Earth Googled" Kemah to see if Bullet is visible?
coasterphotos Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I say why don't we all calm down .. let the people do their work and not bother them .. ensure it works .. let the state say OK .. then ride .. you press them or bother them .. they will not enjoy this. I'll second that. By constantly calling and asking about test runs or when the ride is going to open is probably adding extra stress they don't need right now. It'll be ready when it's ready.
fmulder21 Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Has anyone ever "Earth Googled" Kemah to see if Bullet is visible? No, google isn't updated monthly. Last update still show parts of AW.
coasterboy25 Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 poor astroworld... and i did not think anyone really called, i was joking when i said i did...

I agree. Even though I know we are all interested (including me), I think it's only respectful to not bother them. I know they must be frustrated at this point already. I will continue to let the people do their job in peace. Yes I would of loved to call to get updates but I have not nor will I call cause it's only respectful not to.
lorddoonga Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I bet Mr. Tillman is seething with anger right now. He doesn't seem to be getting a break with the weather, then testing problems, what next... "back-to-school" grand opening day? Early-bird female Target shopper, "OPEN OPEN OPEN!" lol
