btang
hello all. i'm planning on going to WDW this summer but i can only go between aug 10 - mid-september...i know it may not be the best time to go, but it's the only time i have. i'm especially curious about the weather during that time of the year, which may make or break the trip. any advice (about the trip or recommendations in general) would be appreciated! thanks! JT3000
Weather? Be afraid, be very afraid.
coasters 4 me
I am heading there in less than 2 weeks. And apparently there is a tropical storm somewhere near. Is this true? I live in the UK, and we are not used to temperatures in excess of 85 Celcius. So it will be an experience for us.
SharkTums
^Whoa! 85 Celcius! That's pretty hot! Seriously though, the weather is going to suck! It's going to be 92 degrees and 95% humidity. It will rain EVERY day. That being said, you will still be able to do everything you want! Get there for opening, when it gets to unbearable leave, then come back after the daily 4pm thunderstorm and it will be cooler and less crowded. Elissa "it's not the heat, it's the humidity...well, actually it's both!" Alvey

Alvey thanks for the info, but oh no! that doesn't sound very good i've been looking forward to making a trip down there for about 8 (eight!) years now and i finally have the time and money. if it will still be sunny, that's a plus, since i'd like to take back some nice pics with me. the burning question is...would you still recommend that i go? and on that note, are there any suggestions on hotels? i can only afford up to the moderate ones
Wes
^ There are some perks to staying on property, so if you can afford to stay at one of the Value resorts (All Star Sports/Music/Movies or Pop Century) go for it. If not, there's plenty of cheaper hotels around the area. Many offer shuttles to the parks, though you might need a rental car to be able to quickly get to other places in the resort. Don't really worry about the weather, just go and enjoy yourself!
SharkTums
I should point out that when I say "rain every day", I mean it will rain for at most 1 hour every day, usually in the late afternoon. This is not like England or California rain that comes and stays for like 2 days straight! Also keep in mind that the Florida parks are very used to the weather and operate quite amazingly! For example we saw a really bad thunderstorm roll in at 8:40pm at Epcot a couple of weeks ago. I'm talking hail, rainfall rates of 2''/hour and lightning striking all around...so what did Epcot do...kept the park open late, waited for the storm to die down, and at 9:20 (only 20min late) put on the Illuminations nighttime show. Elissa "GO TO DISNEY! It will be fine!" Alvey

btang
yaay thanks everyone! the trip will most likely happen...just have to get through a few final exams now. speaking of which, this site has been tremendously successful in keeping me away from studying
shepp
Carry a compressible rain poncho with you, and remember there's lots to do indoors at WDW and a nice, brutal storm clears out the parks pretty good. And you are going to IOA, right?

Coasters 4 ever
Hopefully there won't be so many hurricanes as predicted, but it does rain every day there, so prepare for rain. I can't help with the hotels as I have never stayed at anything less than a deluxe.
