Groteslurf
After visiting the Horror Fest at Moviepark Germany and the Fright Nights at Walibi World earlier this month, it was time for Halloween at Port Aventura last weekend. Although there are no real scarezones and the mazes are not as gore as the ones at MPG and WW, for me Halloween at PA remains the best Halloween event here in Europe. On to the pics : Part 1 of 4 Your comments on this TR and also on the ones of MPG and WW are more than welcome. ^ Far West Ponchos are recommended now. Rafting ride. I remembered it being a dry ride, but this time it was really wet. ... Baco opened in the meanwhile. It probably just opened as the waiting time was only 20 minutes. So after 20 minutes we were taking place frontrow. The frontrow waiting row will only take you 1 or 2 trains longer than the other places of the train. I didn't think the seats were comfortable (or maybe I should go on a diet ). The small preshow is nice but it should be darker inside. The launch is very powerful and great. I rode Baco twice during our stay, both times frontrow, 1 time seat 2, the second time seat 3. On those seats, the ride is quite smooth. My friend riding seats 1 and 4 said those seats were very rough. You can actually notice this, watching the train taking the turn above the lake. Mediterrània view and what do we hear .... As Mexico only opened at 12 h on Friday, we decided to take the boat from Waitan Port to Port de la Drassana, passing the Halloween bridge to the Far West park part. Awesome theming. ^ On to Dragon Khan which was running great. Took a ride on Sea Odyssey, one of the few similators on which I don't get sick. So we went on to Polynesia and watched 5 minutes of the Aloha Tahiti show. Hopefully Baco will open during the weekend ... But Baco has remained closed since Monday. Baco is not ruining the view of the lake at all imo. I expected it to be really worse but when you enter the park, you hardly notice Baco. Mediterrània lake ^ Halloween Woody at the Port Aventura Hotel restaurant.
Groteslurf
Part 2 of 4 Part 3 and 4 will follow tomorrow evening. Where there is an excellent maze for PA hotel guests only : La Hacienda Encantada. Of the 3 mazes we did on Friday, this was actually the best by far. Time for a visit to Hotel El Paso. Intermezzo at the Salou beach. Baco inline twist ^ ^ ^ ^ Tukiti Splash's small drop. Another DK pic. Second maze : La mina del Diablo. This maze is situated in in the waiting row of El Tren del Diablo. Not much changed since 2 years ago. 90 minutes waiting time during the weekend. Templo theming Templo del Fuego, still the best show in any themepark imo. It is situated under Stampida and replacing Psyco Circus II. There are still some scenes which could also be found in Psyco Circus including the turning tunnel. Overall it is a nice maze but nothing special. First maze : Horror in Penitence
piers
Port Aventura's haunt looks really fun if not a little small. Did they do the whole Hotel Burn thing this year? I have heard mixed things about it, some which I assume to be made up, including Scaractors with room keys they can use all night! Any truth in this? The Riddler
Nice tripreport and photo's, I'm looking forward, just 2 more days to go and i'm flying out to Girona/Barcelona. About the Halloween mazes and attraction's, witch one have the longest waitingtime? And on what time did they open?
TheRapidsNerd
Glad they got FB up and running a bit for your trip. PA looks like a fun place and it's rapids ride could teach some of the US rapids rides a thing or two. Yeah, I'm lookin' at you Mild River Gorge. Good TR and thanks for sharing! I have heard mixed things about it, some which I assume to be made up, including Scaractors with room keys they can use all night! Any truth in this? There are no real scarezones but wouldn't call it small. There is one maze (still to come in my TR) which is by far the biggest maze I've ever been in. Hotel Burn is still there, but we didn't have access to it. It's in a part/on a floor of Hotel El Paso and to what I've heard, the scare actors indeed are wandering arround at night and they have roomkeys. I would like to stay a few hours in it, but not whole nights as I need to be fit to ride the coasters in the morning Glad they got FB up and running a bit for your trip. PA looks like a fun place and it's rapids ride could teach some of the US rapids rides a thing or two. Yeah, I'm lookin' at you Mild River Gorge. Good TR and thanks for sharing! Thanks. I was indeed happy FB was running. 1 month ago I thought I would not be able to try it out. Nice tripreport and photo's, I'm looking forward, just 2 more days to go and i'm flying out to Girona/Barcelona. About the Halloween mazes and attraction's, witch one have the longest waitingtime? And on what time did they open? Thanks Robbin. You know, I almost was in the same group as you next weekend. When the Rollercoasterfriends announced their tripcalendar, the trip to PA was foreseen the past weekend. But then the trip got delayed with 1 weekend and that didn't fit us so we organised our trip ourselves. Anyway, the mazes : Diablo had approx 20 minutes waiting time on Friday, 90 minutes during the weekend. It opened at 1230 h on Friday, 1030 h on Saturday, 1100 h on Sunday. Penitence had approx 15 minutes row on Friday, 1 hour during the weekend. Same opening times as Diablo. Hacienda Encantada is operating every evening btwn 8 pm and midnight. Didn't do any halloween shows this time as we didn't like/understand much of it 2 years ago. There is a parade at 10 pm on Saturday and at 8.30 pm on Sunday. Missed it this years. At 0015 h on Saturday there is a firework/laser/fountain show on the lake. On Sunday at 830 pm. Last but not least : La Selva Del Miedo (see further on in the TR). This maze has the longest lines I've ever seen. The entrance this year is not at Sea Odyssey but at Tami Tami. On Saturday it opened at 9 pm, on Sunday at 8 pm. We entered the row at 0645 pm on Saturday and there were already about 100 people in front of us. At 0730 pm the beginning of the row was already in China. Later that evening we saw the waiting time was 3 hours. At about 0830 h they opened the real waiting row behind Tami Tami ending up at the extended waiting row of Sea Odessey. They opened the actual maze at 0845 pm so 15 minutes earlier than announced.

Groteslurf
Part 3 of 4 ^ ^ Some pics of the Hotel Port Aventura Unfortunately the large swimming pool at the Port Aventura hotel is no longer an oasis of silence and peace thanks to Baco. Hopefully it will have an express entrance soon. Baco was running the whole day but as the waiting time exceeded 90 minutes, we did not ride it on Saturday. Dragon Khan from the Mediterrània area. Random Polynesia theming Diablo waiting row. This is outside the Diablo area, on the main road. Waiting time was 90 minutes. Luckily we had express passes. Show building Before noon the sky was already clearing up again. More Halloween theming. Train Stampida : it used to be one of the better wooden coasters I knew. Ok it was a bit shaky and rattling but it was a great and fun ride. This year I rode it in the new Kumbak trains and it's no improvement I must say. It became really really rough and it got much slower. It's not as rough as Coaster Express or Bandit yet but I'm expecting the worst for Stampida in the coming years. It's such a shame.... ^ ^ Halloween theming in the Far West area Poncho time Not exactly the weather we were hoping for. Saturday morning, we woke up in a rainy Spain. Groteslurf
Final part But we rode the 3rd train of the day. Next year October, we'll be there again. Still not 10 h and the waiting time was already exceeding 1 hour ! Yes. The wiating area opens at 0945 h. Sunday morning the park opens at 10 am. We were already waiting at the entrance of Baco at 0935 h and again we were not first. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Terror on the lake show at 0015 h Another Baco pic DK in the dark Baco in the dark ^ The stand up tilting side is awesome, the tilting sit down is also cool. The not tilting sides are standard. It's a pitty they don't let you choose where you sit if you have a preference. Anyway, I rode all sides this weekend so I was happy. Pic from the waiting row. Hurakan Condor No cameras allowed inside, but I can say it is really a very long, scary and beautiful maze. There are a few amazing scenes and I estimate approx 50 scare actors inside. It was absolutely worth while the wait. ^ ^ ^ At 0830 pm they opened the actual waiting row. At that time, the beginning of the row was already somewhere in China, 'Port Aventura China' that is. Luckily we had an excellent view on the diveloop of DK 0645 pm : time to get in the row for the top maze La Selva Del Miedo, Jungle of Fear. This maze was scheduled to open 2 hours and 15 minutes later. Another Baco pic
coasterdude5
Awesome trip report, Furius Baco is the coolest coaster in my books - I gotta get over there and ride it someday.

Hopefully the waitingline's aren't to bad for the halloween ride's, I think we whill wait a long time for La Selva Del Miedo, al lot of people are happy about it so it must be great. You'll be staying in the Port Aventura hotel so you will have an express pass for Diablo anyway. Hacienda Encatada row will not take you more than 15 minutes when it opens, no waiting line later in the evening. Penitence you will find a moment when the waiting time is not that long during the 3 days you will be there.. Selva Del Miedo is worth while the wait, even if the row is 3 hours.
