CycloneMan Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Well, the day started off very wet. I went to school a bit worried, after my last class, my mom picked me up and we drove straight to GA. We got there at around 12:45pm, making perfect time. I'm not going to get into to detail. But we got at least 15 rides on Kingda Ka. There were 3 rollbacks, but none for us. The first 7 rides were in the rain. And for the few who rode in the front row (myself included) in the rain, we all know why they don't operate this ride with even the slightest amount of rain. Quote of the day: JR: "It's freezing, let's go to Magic Mountain!" Photos: We arrived a bit worried about the rain! I just love this shot of GASM Mom's all ready! JR and I are ready Getting ready for testing, but it then broke so they ended up doing a reset. Random shot of people number 1 Random shot of people number 2 Let's try it again Barely even inched over, but it made it. Me, Adam, and JR So we were a bit nervous about riding in the rain, and debating if this was a good idea. Tom was prepared. Frank and Steve (who is also prepared) We barely filled two trains. Which was great! Angel Aristone and other park's people I do not know It was suprisingly smooth in the back. JR and I preparing for our front row ride in the rain! Do we look prepared? JR and I in the front row in the rain (Video) And this is how we looked after. Why yes, I am stupid! Signing waivers so we can be on TV. Some of you may of heard of Soccer Moms! But these right here are Coaster Moms! My mom (left) and JR's mom (right). This may look like a normal picture of Dan...but if this was video, it would of been a lot different! Random shot of people number 3 Angela and Matt! Discovery Channel crew getting ready 1 Discovery Channel crew getting ready 2 Discovery Channel crew getting ready 3 This camera ended up causing some problems later on. JR, Ira, Me, Brenda, and Adam. After this, the camera broke so there are no more pictures from me. But we ended up being finished at 7:15pm, over and hour than we were supposed to be there! I also want to give a special thanks to Wade for getting me in, being I had no luck with ACE (I've learned to now check my e-mails more than once a day!) -Dainan "It really was one of the best Media Shoots I've ever done!" Rafferty
JuanSe_Colombia Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Oh that's cool! Nice phto trip just show more SFGA and less Kingda Ka
CycloneMan Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 ^If you want to see more SFGAv go read my other Trip Reports. This video shoot was strictly at Kingda Ka. Even though with the rain, we were all hoping they'd move us to El Toro -Dainan "It was also my last visit to the park this year" Rafferty
Scaparri Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Awesome TR with some great pictures!! It amuses me though how when the audio says "arms down, head back," that's like the cue for everybody to put their arms up.
Homer Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Awesome TR, sounds like you and the others had a good time participating in a Discovery Channel shoot! I wonder what show its going to be used for or a new special. Anyways, can't wait for some word on whether or not Discovery is doing another great show.
Top Thrill Dragster Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Great TR!!! It was soo cool to see the rain just streak off the train as it neared the end of the launch, and pull up into the hill. I bet it hurt like hell! I rode Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain, 3 times in a row in the front and in the rain. It was one of the most painful and fun coaster experiences I have ever had. BTW, why were they filming Kingda Ka?
Rider117 Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Filming for a show on Discovery called Really Big Things. It was focused mainly on the mechanical aspect of the ride.
CycloneMan Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Look at me and JR's face! -Dainan "Ira just sent me this picture" Rafferty
WadeJ Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Oh that's cool! Nice phto trip just show more SFGA and less Kingda Ka Being that the title is Discovery Channel Shoot at Kingda Ka, what were you expecting? The park is only open weekends this time of the year so we were very fortunate to even be there And yes, the rain HURT lol
coastakid Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 ^ HAHA Dainan. That looks exactly like JR's and my TTD pic fom front row at night... Oh goodness that was a bad idea. I reallllyyy don't like bugs (ecspecially when there splattered all over me). That looked like a lot of fun anyways and you got the meet Ira! That's like an experience in its own... (I'm NOT explaining). I'm still mad I'm not going to be able to hit any parks until next spring and hopefully I'll get to see you again! Maybe at Coney Island again or something along those lines. -Coastakid (Jon)
