jackskellington101 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 So it's official, the full title to the next installment of the Indiana Jones series is going to be called Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Shia LaBeouf "accidentally" let the title slip last night during MTV's Video Music Awards and the studio released a press release about it this morning. So, do you think it's going have any similarity to the Tokyo Disneysea attraction of a similar name or is it just a coincidence?
Giovanolafan Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 hmmm.... I really dont know.. In the Pirates of Caribean Game ( the First One) they mention a scene in the game in the third movie before it came out.. well.. Who Knows..
pete4winds Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 If I was going to guess at the actual plot of the film, I'd go with the legend of the 13 Mayan Crystal Skulls. The Mitchell-Hedges skull is the most famous of this alleged set of 13 skulls, and the legend in general seems to be a natural next adventure for Dr. Jones. I'm sure elements of the ride could easily be incorporated, but the idea of a supernatural main antagonist (whether in on-screen reality or simply myth) just seems a little too un-Raiders. To illustrate my point (as Indy is packing his suitcase): "I don't believe in magic, a lot of superstitious hocus pocus. I'm going after a find of incredible historical significance, you're talking about the boogie man."
alpengeist04 Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Let's just hope with the new movie in 2008, Disney will eventually put in a Indy ride at one of the Florida parks. Alpen "Can't wait till Indy in 08."geist04
Wes Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 To illustrate my point (as Indy is packing his suitcase): "I don't believe in magic, a lot of superstitious hocus pocus. I'm going after a find of incredible historical significance, you're talking about the boogie man." Yeah, but by the end of the film, he is forced to believe in the supernatural, that's why he closes his eyes and tells Marion to close her eyes when the Ark is opened.
pete4winds Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 ^ Agreed, and Temple of Doom & Last Crusade both had heavy supernatural elements as well, but none of the three had a supernatural antagonist as a central figure, which is why I tend to disagree with the idea that the movie and ride will be similarly themed. I think the 13 Mayan Skulls legend just fits a little better with the history of the series, that of Indy going after a specific thing which turns out to possess mystical powers that he was unprepared for.
JamesMC Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Yay for the new Indiana Jones movie!!! Boo for the overly long title- how 'bout we shorten it to just Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull? or Indiana Jones: Kingdom Of The Skull
larrygator Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Why not just "IJ4" as a title? Short enough The length of the title is a more uselss thing to argue over than most of the stuff we argue about here? and that is saying a lot
pete4winds Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Yay for the new Indiana Jones movie!!! Boo for the overly long title- how 'bout we shorten it to just Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull? or Indiana Jones: Kingdom Of The Skull Let's not forget that the "proper" title for Raiders was actually "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" (it was Paramount who wanted it shortened to just "Raiders of the Lost Ark." I agree that the new title is a mouthful, but as Larry said, is it really that important? The original point of this thread was to speculate connections between the Tokyo DisneySea ride and the plot of the film, now how many words Spielberg could squeeze onto a movie poster.
Team Thriller Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Whatever the name will be, I want to see that movie more than anyother movie
pagemaster_b Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 On one of the screenplay websites, someone posted a draft Speilburg and Lucas were considering. Horribly written and was obviously rejected. Sad thing was, it was written by Chris Columbus.
Nrthwnd Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 ^ Ah well. At least some of us have already ridden the attraction, based on the movie! But wait - the movie's not done yet! Hee hee.... We got that news from Elissa (yes?) on our coach shuttle back to the Narita airport, Monday afternoon before I went ta-home and "others went elsewhere" (I hate you all). We'll hope the film lives up to the attraction it's based on, heh heh!
