Manny In England
From what I've seen you guys do great trips to allover the World, I was really surprised that Korea was listed. Have you ever done a trip to Russia and are there any good parks there? I've Only Ever Heard Of This One

RIP Psyclone
Is a trip to Russia worth it strictly for coasters/amusement parks? No. Will TPR ever do a trip there? When pigs fly.
Wes
^ Not to be rude, but you have no insight into what Robb and Elissa might plan for future trips.
Tanks4me05
Well, there are about a dozen parks worth of interest according to rcdb, (IMO) and despite Russia's size, 10 of them are in either Saint Petersburg or Moscow. (Eastern Russia.) The other two however, are near the Western border of Russia, and although with the looks of it from Google Earth, Moscow and Saint Petersburg are a plane flight apart, so that means more tickets. If you want to get to those two parks on the other side of Russia, you will need (obviously) another plane ticket. Â Does anyone remember the Sea Serpent themed Shuttle Coaster that came with RCT3: Soaked? Well, that coaster happens to be real, and it's at one of the Western parks. Â And no, Disney Dood, there is no Disneyland Moscow.

sixflagsguy5
I'm not too sure I'd feel safe going to Russia. My cousin wanted to adopt a kid from Russia for some reason even though she already has three kids of her own and can't even take care of them. From what she's told us, the government over there is still wacky. I don't know much about current events because I'm a math guy, but I'll take her word for it. Â It would be interesting to go to Russia to ride some of the PAX coasters.
ParkTrips
St Petersburg & Moscow are in the western part of Russia. Silly Americans and their geography "skills" Â Actually I could totally see a tour! Between Russia and the smaller Baltic states, there are quite a few parks that aren't commonly visited ... and maybe even stretching it over to Hungary to make it a huge trip! Tanks4me05
^Hey, I just found out that I was looking at the map on Google Earth sideways. It's not my fault that the people who designed Google Earth who didn't give us full control on how to "spin" the globe. Oh well. Plane flights will be a lot cheaper. I also just realized that Saint Petersburg is really close to Finland's border, so maybe a Russia/Scandinavia trip may be in order eventually? If they did all of the parks in Russia, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, it would equal to about 22 parks, a surprisingly large amount for that corner of the world. Here are some highlight coasters in Russia: Â Great Russian Mountain - Wonder Island: Relocated from Kure Portopialand, it is basically "The Other BMR-X/Knightmare", it closed in 1997, and opened in Russia in 2004. What is interesting is that Kure Portopialand resided in Hiroshima, Japan. That's right, Great Russian Mountain was relocated from Nuke Land I. (Although I'm pretty sure that it opened long after the radiation levels went down to a safe level.) Â Afterburner - Wonder Island: It's a Screaming Squirrel, and it replaced an indoor Maurer Soehne Spinner - Star Wars. And it goes upside down only twice, compared to Sequoia Adventure's 3 times. To top it all off, there are no pictures on rcdb for this coaster. Not impressed? Well, read this quote from rcdb regarding Afterburner: Â "Unlike previous Screaming Squirrel roller coasters by S&S Power, the Afterburner will be the first to make lateral turns." Â So, now you know why the Screaming Squirrel in RCT3 was able to do "real" elements. Â Also, read this quote from rcdb: Â "Height: 150' 11"" Â So, there you have it. A custom Screaming Squirrel marginally taller than Montu. Â Chernomor - Admiral Vrungel: (Yes Admiral Vrungel is the name of the park) There are no pictures, but based on the stats, it sounds like a really tall PAX wild train. Â Cobra - Admiral Vrungel: a PAX Cobra-1. What the heck is that thing, you ask? Well, do you remember that really screwed up Serpent themed shuttle coaster in rcdb that had a solid box like track, and and had a serpent's head and tail at the ends of the track? Well, guess what... that coaster is real, and it's 150' 11" tall. Â Â Frozen - Sokolniki Park: A clone of Gillian's Wonderland Pier former city Jet - a City Jet 400. Â Now, realize that Gorky Park may have 5 coasters, but two of their larger ones, a Schwarzkopf Alpen Biitz II and a PAX Magic Steed (a continuous circuit, 39' 4" tall Looping coaster) are SBNO and unlikely to re open. So all that's left there is a Fiesta Express, a Zamperla Spinning Mouse and a weird thing from SDC called a Reverse Coaster. Â HOWEVER, there is a problem in getting to all the parks - this is in no way like Japan, for the parks are very few and very far between. The total travel as the crow flies, including occasionally crossing bodies of water, is (roughly) almost 2,900 miles. Yeah. If this trip would ever happen, it probably would be one of the most expensive trips on record - not for the parks, but the transportation fees. Carnage
^Hey, I just found out that I was looking at the map on Google Earth sideways. It's not my fault that the people who designed Google Earth who didn't give us full control on how to "spin" the globe.. Â Actually it is your fault considering you can "spin" the globe in Google Earth. Â In the top right there's a control that looks like a circle. Grab part of the circle and drag. Â I'd say the problem is between the keyboard and the chair, not with Google.
brilinjo
Comrade, from what I have heard about the safety record of domestic Russian airlines, the internal flights would be scarier than the coasters.

Manny In England
I'm glad Russia isn't completely devoid of Parks. I probably wouldn't ever go to them though, Europe and Russia aren't getting along too well.
OFortuna
Russia is a logistical nightmare to get in and out of due to visa restrictions placed on US citizens. Even a cursory look will make this clear. Its a really poor choice right now for independent travel.
