sixflagsguy5
I was on coasterfanatics.com awhile ago and I noticed that they count Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls as a coaster credit. I was looking at some of their pictures and noticed coaster-like track in one of the pictures. I've ridden the ride and I know how it has a big bunny hill after the big drop. Does this make it count as a coaster? I know that there are people who don't count any water coasters, so please don't start a whole topic about that. For those of you who do count water coaster though, do you count this one or not? Lastly, did the ride use to be a log flume and they recently added coaster track or have there ever been any rehabs on the ride?
alpengeist04
I consider it a log flume, myself. I do understand if some people consider it a coaster, since it does have coaster like track in more than one area on the ride. As a matter of fact, I think it has more coaster like track than JTA at Seaworld. ...and that's a coaster, go figure.
hemmy
I think the only real change made to the ride was making the head chopper after the final drop higher to prevent injury. Also, I have been to IOA many times, once including opening year and once this summer and I believe the ride has remained the same. As far as classifying it as a water coaster I would not because not a whole lot of it is locked in the track.
DarkMeasures
Well it kind of qualifies as a coaster. Though I guess Splash Mountain does too in a way.
sixflagsguy5
The rule I go by is whether or not rcdb.com counts it as a coaster (or has it in their database). This coaster isn't in their database, so I don't count it. Thanks for the information and the quick responses.
Gav
I wouldn't consider this a water coaster because of this element. Tracked sections on what are normally plain flume rides are more common than most people would think, Wild West Falls at Warner Bros Movie World, Rio Bravo at Parque Warner, Splash Mountain of course, Bugs white water rapids at SFFT, probably heaps I am missing, I dont think these should be counted as being a whole roller coaster for one or two of these little elements. It really comes down to common sense, think about what the "essence" or the "spirit" of the ride is about, and I think with Dudleys, it's more of a flume than a coaster. RIP Psyclone
However, RCDB lists powered coasters, and those we all agree are not credits. So, if a ride has a gravity (only) powered section of track, then it is a roller coaster. SO, yeah. Dudley's is not a coaster. JTA is (all versions). Canobie Fan
and those we all agree are not credits. What do you mean ALL? I know a lot of people who count power coasters... Just because some people dont count them doesnt mean everyone doesnt... Canobie "I still count Snails" Fan
Reon
I count it. There is a dip, and a hill in there...2 coaster elements that go completely out of the water... Thats about the same as most "TRUE" water coasters, so why not count it?

Hence why they happen right after drops and not out of nowhere. It's just a flume ride that runs on rails at certain points.
CoasterFanatic
Some people like to count it and some don't. It is listed on CoasterFanatics.Com because I like to give people the option. Nothing more ... nothing less. // The ride has always used rails on the two "dry" drops. I believe the rehab a couple years ago was to widen the angle of descent.
