dandaman
Highlights: - Bay Harbor. Go there. NOW. - Millennium Force at night. - 3 backseat Maverick rides. - Gemini running both sides for once - About average lines, and the ones we did ride, didn't have much of a wait at all. Wicked Twister was a walk-on all weekend. Magnum had typical lines... one minute you walk right into the train, the next, it's an hour's queue. Maverick had typical filled queues, 1.5 hour wait every time. A few breakdowns thrown in, but nothing serious. Overall, it was one of the better trips I've had. And now, for the part that you've probably skipped down to already. I know I would. I leave you tonight with some TTD spinal action. More to come tomorrow! Even this pile of lumber doesn't look half-bad in the dark, much like most women in a poorly-lit bar. So by 10:30, all of Frontiertown was pretty much empty. ...My only regret is not riding this in the dark. Al the Ghost Train says hi. More Halloweekends stuff. ...Not what I was going for, really. Time for some hot MF night action! ...Eh. Mirror-image that and it might make a good wallpaper... Let's play "Spot the Ghosts!" Got a couple of Troika... ...Cooler. Cool... "Zoom-zoom!" ...Into awesome Intamin-ness. (I've finally found a use for all the trash cans; they helped with the tripod setup quite nicely!) Going from silhouettes... So we're finally getting into the night shots now. A few turned out nicely, thanks to my new bendable tabletop tripod thing. Hey Jahan! And thus, with these two trains in one shot, I'm 2/3 of the way from completing CP's own "Nexus of Suck". (One guess as to what the third is.) Halloweekends starts on the 14th. I speak from experience: NEVER go on a Saturday in October. Question: How long have these been here? These are on the right, just before going into the WWL station queuehouse. ...Damn glare. Maverick appears to have hit 88 m.p.h... So, without actually going into the Paddlewheel Excursions waiting area, this is the best angle I could get. Considering I took this kind of by accident, it's not bad. Judy K. tries to play hide-and-seek. Gratuitous shot #2 Gratuitous shot #

Sunfire
Whoa. You have a gift for photography. That one pic of Millennium Force is perfect (the one you took accidentally). I can't wait to see more pics from you.
Groteslurf
Excellent pics. Especially the 'long-shutter-lights at night' pice are very nice.
dandaman
Wow. I thought the pics were good, but not THAT good. Thanks, all. I'm really sorry about the delay, folks... my Internet's conveniently been out ever since Monday night. Moral: Never procrastinate on your trip report. I actually went there again yesterday, and lines were even better: Wicked Twister was a total walk-on, as were Magnum and Gemini (one train only, too). MF had only its first switchbacks open, and even Dragster was about 20 minutes. Maverick stayed at a constant 45 the whole day. Plus I brought a friend and we made a Steak 'n Shake run after, so it was all good. ...Unfortunately, I'm going somewhere else for the majority of today. I REALLY hope the Net stays up in time for me to post Sunday's photos. Dan
dandaman
Again, sorry about the delay... but barring my Net doesn't decide to take a vacation while I post, here's Back to the Point: Part II. Keeping the tradition of ending reports rather abruptly, here's some awesome roadster that looked like it belonged on the Turnpike Cars. Thanks for reading! My GOD, this was good. Chicken carbonera: cheese tortellini and grilled chicken in a bacon alfredo sauce. With garlic bread. *drools* Before this, since it opened at 5, we went to the bar for drinks around 4:40 before seating. A real happenin' place at 5 o'clock as you can see. "I'll have some ribs with a side of Force, please." Some genius with a 15-foot-wide yacht tried for a half-hour to fit into a boat slip. I haven't seen him since. ...Fine dining at Cedar Point! Seriously, I had to ask if I was underdressed. Unfortunately, my trip comes to a close. But not before something you never thought possible... Probably the hardest "2-trains-in-1" photo credit to get these days. I really doubt there'll be a ride here... but I guarantee it'll be the BEST maintenance shed on Earth, as rated by Theme Parks Magazine. Skully gets prepped for another year. ...The more interesting things are happening off the ride. (Halloweekends parade floats in the background.) As usual with Mean Streak... Holy carp! This angle = the actual temperature on Wednesday. Too bad they won't angle it towards the cars. (Though that's just asking for rust.) Maverick showcases its "hanging-flowerpot" landscaping. *yawn* Sanduskians test-wear the Japanese cloaks. I trust TPR members to state what's wrong/so, so right with this one. This is the best I could get through a crack in the MF underpass. (Ugh.) "We don't have enough track to hit 5 m.p.h." "You're just not thinking 4th-dimensionally!" Gratuitous shot # eleventy Though it is quite the photogenic ride. (Next!) Mantis... as in, "Man, tis sucks!" New for 2008: A launched Intamin to take out the Summer Craptacular! I took this through another can... so that makes five. (On Wednesday I saw an opportunity for 12!) Ha! No regrets for once! I title this, "Impending Amnesia". What small landscaped areas there are in the park, they do quite well. ...You know the routine by now. For comparison, the lot on the left was about 75% empty on Wednesday. More regrets: Not getting the cobra roll/ entire layout, especially knowing I had ROOM... Sorry... there's at least one train in this shot. I always have regrets for most of my photos... like no train in this loop, for one. Reverse POV! Typical Arrow: Half are happy only from their disorientation, while others are fully aware of their unbearable pain. It takes REAL mad skillz to get NO trains in this shot! ZOMG! Could've been better if the blasted banners weren't there. I had no idea how much airtime you get in the back 'till 2 days ago. Wow. The Kiss of Death! (Even though I love Magnum for sentimental reasons... ow.) Well... at least I got 1 train in. Cedar Fair will make sure these trees have concrete soil by next year. Shade on left + morning glare on right = tough picture to balance out Magnum goes a little early... let's say 86 m.p.h. Didn't ride this today, but I did ride it Wednesday... twice. I don't know why, either.
dandaman
...Nice to see this TR has just EXPLODED in popularity.
TheRapidsNerd
Hey Man, I enjoyed it and thought you got some great action shots. Unfortunately, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose on the popularity. What makes it worth while is that somebody does appreciate the hard work and artistry (and humor) you put in, even if they don't leave a comments or you don't get many hits. Keep posting. You're pics are worth seeing.
ComplexAudio99
Wow... great TR. Too bad I didn't stumble on this earlier. It's like what TheRapidsNerd said, its hit or miss. I really like your hilarious comment, and nice work taking pictures of... the track... Keep posting, cause most will read the TR but not post anything... Great job, once again! dandaman
You're dead-on about the "hit-or-miss" style of posts around here. It was just hilarious to see all the comments about the first half, and then the chirping crickets came out for Round 2. Sticky Nicky
I forget the resterants name, but if I am thinking correct the one with the 4:40 drinking, wasn't that right next to Sancastle Suites. If so, how bad was your service. That was one of only two things that pissed me off last year at CP. It took 2 hours to get a Pizza Hut pizza ordered there dining in, and there was only about 10 other parties and 3-4 waiters or waiteresses. The other thing was them not allowing me to put my glasses in my pocket on TTD, forceing me to get out of the 45 minute line I had waited in before the ride opened, giving them to my dad and waiting another 45 minutes to ride. And then the next day, the same people let me wear them on the ride. Other than that, I had a really great time.
dandaman
^Bay Harbor is right next to Famous Dave's, just outside the park near Blue Streak. Sandcastle Suites is basically at the back of the peninsula, just near Magnum's pretzel turn.
