divyking Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I went to Thorpe Park today and was expecting it to busy but couldn't have been prepared for what it was like. Luckily for me i'm 'disabled' and didn't have to queue. Here are some of the queue times i saw. Vortex 70mins Rush 95mins Colossus 140mins Samurai 90mins Loggers Leap 90mins Slammer 60mins Nemesis Inferno 120mins Rapids 60mins Detonator 45mins X:\no way out 45mins Tidal Wave 120mins Stealth 120mins Some of the people from our school only got on 2 rides in the whole day!! Heres the order we went on: Stealth Rush Zodiac X:\no way out Samurai Slammer Nemesis Inferno Rush Stealth Rapids Colossus Rush Samurai photos: It took 2 hours on the coach Colossus - painful now im 6ft 1 Samurai's overflowing queue line The 'millions' of people going to stealth Stealth - standing high above the rest Nemesis Inferno and Detonator It was a perfect day for Tidal Wave but not enough time Samurai Samurai Colossus The air time hill and cobra roll The air time hill - with train The cobra roll - with same train /\ The corkscrew with same train /\ I felt sorry for everyone who queued 2 hours for tidal wave - but then it broke!!!
viking86 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I had the pleasure of visiting Thorpe Park with 8000+ school children in the park 2 years ago. Even with our fastpasses we probably had to wait around 30 minutes for Colossus. Luckily very few seemed to know about the single-rider line for Nemesis Inferno, so that was walk-on, even with the entire queue filled. Slammer wasnt too bad either, with a 30-45 minute wait... Btw, does Colossus still sound like a trashcan rolling down a hill??
naniel89 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Hell Yeh!!! Its got alot louder, try a trash can full of tin cans rolling down a hill. haha It seems to be abit smoother now though.
IceDragon Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Hell Yeh!!!Its got alot louder, try a trash can full of tin cans rolling down a hill. haha It seems to be abit smoother now though. Nope. last time I rode, it split my ear... Heh, it sucks you had to go when it was so crowded... I went after my GCSE's last year and we got about 4 rides done the whole day... The weeks after the GCSE results are really bad for theme parks...
coasterdude5 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Cool TR, Thorpe Park looks like a cool place, despite the crowds.
TPDave Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 The gate figure for thorpe today was 19 000 (capacity 22 000). So almost completely full. Although it's worth noting that the queue times given by the park are inflated, the queues are still really long. I went on saturday and only went on 2 rides before going home. It's impossible to enjoy yourself when there are that many people there.
IceDragon Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Cool TR, Thorpe Park looks like a cool place, despite the crowds. Oh yeah... It's amazing! Religious Holidays seem the only times to go to take advantage of a near-empty park... Nemesis Inferno at about 3pm on Fathers Day... The queue started at the bottom of the stairs.
hemmy Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I visited on a perfect day 2 years ago, walk-on for every ride. Or at least <5 minute wait. Missed the Stealth credit though
divyking Posted July 20, 2007 Author Posted July 20, 2007 i wish everything was 5 mins but even the fasttrack queue was about 30 mins!!
verticalzero Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I visited the park at the beginning of June and it was busy then, had about 45 mins wait for each ride. I will never go to a Park between the end of June and 2nd week of Sept, far to busy. Try and wait for the 3rd week in Sept and the end of the season in Nov, go during the week when the kids are back at school, the waiting time should be less than 15 mins for each ride. I'll have to try a TR: on their "Fright Nights" in Oct.
EmBy Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Nice TR, good photos, especially the feet on the bus window. God those queue times were massive, although this was meant to be the busiest week of the Summer with all the school tours before the holidays. Heard Alton was jammed too. Probably will get worse when the schools are off. Try it again in September, weather will still be good and way less crowds.
NathP Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Oh man that busy on a Thursday. I went to Thorpe by mistake last July and I couldn't believe the queues, now with single rider gone from most of the rides ill be staying away until at least mid-september!
Xtremecoaster Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Yes,it`s unbelievable that parks can be so much packed! When I came to Bakken two years ago,it was not much crowded, but when I came there 1st July this year,it was way owercrowded, even just a few minutes after the park opened!
divyking Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 even though it was so busy the ride crews were extremely quick when we were on stealth, by the time we had returned to the offload platform and stopped the other train already had 4 red lights on!!!
