jamesdillaman
Or if most of the guests were really trying to get to cedar point and took a wrong turn... -James Dillaman
EastCoastn07
Geauga Lake's attendance is actually up this season Source please. // I have never seen a park that looked more like it was circling the drain. The difference between last year and this year is staggering. It's just from what I've heard through people who work for the park and from others who know people who work at the park. Just wait and see, I'm sure Cedar Fair will be releasing attendance numbers soon considering its almost the end of the season. And yeah, attendance is useless because most of the people go to the waterpark. Last time I checked, Wildwater Kingdom was Geauga Lake's main draw, so does it matter if people are going to the waterpark or rides park, the park is still bringing in people. The fact that most guests only go to the water park is quite relevant as far as ripping out more coasters is concerned.
EastCoastn07
But it's not the only reason people go to Geauga Lake...your proof is below. Who says Geauga Lake can't bring in the crowds anymore?

Then Geauga Lake will be getting the 300 ft coaster next year, not Canada's Wonderland.
EastCoastn07
Why does the park need a hyper or a giga...I think the park would do just fine if the company invested in a nice spinning coaster like Sierra Sidewinder at Knott's Berry Farm. Not to mention a few more slides for the waterpark.

Not to mention a few more slides for the waterpark. You raise a very fine point. The park could do well with some medium-sized, but fun installations. But shouldn't they start with fixing their current assets?
EastCoastn07
Aside from the old waterpark which needs a lot of attention to fix up, I don't see any other areas that need large amounts of attention. I think Headspin could of course use a paint job, Raging Wolf Bobs needs to be fixed, and Villain needs to be totally revamped (full retracking maybe some new trains). Other than that, the park is in a pretty good position. If the park plays their cards right and attendance improves next year as well, I could easily see them putting more emphasis on fixing up the rides side which will give people and even better reason to go to the park. I did the park in like 2 hours, and have no desire to ever go back. I didn't really enjoy any of the rides. And the place is just a lifeless, naked slab of concrete. There's no character at all. I appreciate your home park (Kennywood) infinitely more.
Hobbesx2
Vortex wasn't bad. I rode it a few weeks ago. (That reminds me again, I got to post my PTR)
Chadley
As coasters go, Vortex would have to get my vote too. That thing has always been torture for me, and many others I know. What would I like to see go? That outdated, waste-of-time FX Theatre is just sitting there taking up space. They've had half of the thing shut down consistently for the past 3-4 seasons. Big Bad Wolf totally kicks the crap out of any other suspended I've been on before. That dive down to the river is so fun and intense. Top Gun is good, but Iron Dragon, (or Draggin' Iron as I heard it called) is just sad.
FeelTheFORCE
Vortex also has my vote. I didn't like it too much. I liked the inversions, but the turns were to tight...too much headbanging.
coastermaniac
I've only been to KI this year. Did they actually take out something at the end of the 2005 season...or since then? And if so, what?
John Peck
They "took out" Hanna Barbara Land. Even though it was a retheme with a few new rides, they did in fact pull out a couple older attractions and the Ghoster Coaster. Of course, they did the same thing when they announced they were "taking out" Waterworks, but they only removed 1 thing.

And while we're on the subject of coasters, why isn't RWB's running yet?
All Clear
^OT: A customer service person told me Sunday (8/19) that RWB would be down the rest of the season. I had asked because it was raining that day and lots of rides were down. I was considering a return trip on my way back home.
