Holliwood Nights

Holliwood Nights, Day one.

After setting up camp I finally made my way over to Holiday World about 4 central. Rode the Voyage once and then walked into the Water park to get some pictures of the new slide. I then proceeded over to Scrambler and Revolution as I had never rode those. After that I decided to ride Liberty Launch. By then it was about 5:30 and I walked back to the Howler and rode it just to do it. It was then time for the park to be cleared and for us Participants to ride till we die (and eat too!). I figured that everyone would head to Voyage first thing so I headed towards Legend. After about 3 train cycles they opened up the que. And I rode once then went to Raven and rode it. It was still pretty bright outside so I headed up to Kringle’s for dinner. All you can eat pizza! It was pretty good pizza too. It was finally getting dark so I headed towards Voyage. It still wasn’t all the way dark so I just hung around for about 30 minutes. It finally got dark enough and it was on.

Night Rides on any of hw’s three coasters rock! Voyage specifically. Once you get past the lift hill, you can’t see anything until you hit the light of the mid course slow down. Both nights all three coasters were screaming!

Saturday morning ERT in the water was beginning to look cold after Friday, but after going down Bakuli a few times, it wasn’t bad. Little does people know, that at Holiday World, not only do you get to have fun, but you get to participate in their exercise program. What other park would feed you, then give you ert on a water slide that is 7 stories up!

Also this past weekend, Plymouth Rock Café opened. Talk about good food, it is so good, you would expect something like this in a sit down diner, not a theme park.

Enough with the talk, onto the pictures!

Start out with Food.

This is what I got.

For only

Next will be Bakuli. I love this slide. Enjoy the 4 adults while you can, I doubt that will last like all the other cloverleaf tube slides.

Also new in the water park is a couple play areas that I showed last week from afar, now from close.

Saturday at Holiday World was packed, in the Raven lot, they were all the way back to the end of the lot and pretty full in the legend lot.

Also, Deal or No Deal was there doing something.

Up next Voyage Walk Back Photos.

Being how I have only been to one SF park I decided to check out Kentucky Kingdom while being near. The minute you walk into the park you are greeted by a drop tower. That park was nearly desolate so I only had to wait about 2 cycles to get on.

I then proceeded to go on a coaster hunt, never being to the park before I found someone that knew where most of the coasters where and followed them.

First up was Chang, As my first stand up coasters, I liked it. Very little head banging and pretty smooth.

Next up was T2, I was told by a few people not to ride this, while others said it was okay, I rode it and I agree with the people who told me not to, but it is very photogenic.

Since construction in the water is still going on, I had to walk all the way back around the water park to the other side for the wooden coasters. So here is a few deluge pictures.

Next up was twisted twins. I rode the pink side (don’t know names) and thought it was okay, but it was sorta rough. I wanted to ride the other side, but the other side was queuing, but not loading. The ride op at the control panel sent the people to the pink side, I just left. The only thing I noticed was that there wasn’t a second op for blue side.

I then made my way to over to thunder run. Since it had PTC’s I thought it would be okay, Boy was I wrong. I rate Thunder about as bad or worse than Boss at St. Louis.

Though I didn’t ride it, the Mile High Falls looks like fun.

IF there wasn’t glass there, people would be soaked!

Since Greezed Lightning at Astroworld (defunct) is being in the process of being rebuilt. I rode Greezy here and liked it. I need to get down to Joyland in Texas once it opens.

I spoke with someone who rode this ride at it’s former location and was told that here it brakes a little while going back through the station. I ended my day with a ride on the Acme coaster just for the credit.

My impressions of SF:KK is that the water park is the part that brings in the people. The park was dead today. One thing that annoyed me was the fact that it was so close to the airport that the planes were too loud. IT was nicely themed. Also, characters were all over the place.

Foghorn wants to be your friend!

So does Sylvester unless you’re a bird.

Thanks for viewing.

During ERT on friday, Raven and Legend were almost walk ons except front and back seat. Voyage had hardly any wait until it got dark, then it was long for front and back and out onto the stairway going up to the station level.

On Saturday, just as long for Voyage, same for legend and raven. They ran two train op's on all 3 coasters, but don't know why they didn't add the third for Voyage unless to avoid stacking.

There were 566 preregistered, but seen quite a few with hand written tags. So I guess about 600 to 650. Paula probalby knows exact. Numbers were expect to be low this year with the con coming through.

On Friday, crowds were light for the general public, lines were meduim. Allot of people went to the water park since the water was semi nice. On Saturday, there were 4 company picnics plus hwn plus school groups plus public, it was packed, I didn't ride any coasters during regular hours. They actually ran the trams on Saturday, which they hadn't yet. I didn't spend much time in the park on saturday during regular hours. I was in there for water park ert and about an hour after so I could ride all the water slides which I neglected since I was chicken.

I was on bamboo chute on a double tube with somebody and we literally were almost thrown off our tube. After the water park I ate lunch at the new restraunt and went to my campsite for a couple hours so I could change and get ready for Voyage walk back. I returned about an hour and half before closings and did a couple rides since people were leaving. Then I got the Howler Credit.

Think that about covers it. I left Sunday before the park opened so I don't know what it was like Sunday.

my goal is to make to 40 credits this year. And If I only to go Cedar Point, I will make it. I only been riding since last september and I am up to 28. I plan on going to CP during the fall that way I can get a cheap hotel and low crowds.

Very nice SFKK pics!

honestly, the pictures are better than the park. I didn't think it was that great. I went in with a low feeling about it so I am not disappointed, the water park looks nice though, from what I could see. Too bad you have to rent tubes. Holiday World as a home park really puts things into propective what parks could be with certain promos.

Yeah, Coaster photos is something I like doing. I have put over 6300 pictures on my camera in one year. Good thing it is a good dslr to last a while.

You should have no problem making that goal, or going far beyond that. There are many parks that are within reasonable driving distance here in the Midwest. I've only been traveling to parks since last May, and I'm already up to 125. Though this includes some California and Florida credits. I hope to make it to 200 credits this year.

Grat TR!

I don't know what the heck happened to Thunder Run. A couple of years back, it was as smooth as a baby's bottom and the airtime was Amazing! Oh, and be glad you caught SFKK on a slow day with good weather. Usually the park is packed beyond belief.

Aww you missed the private tour of SFKK with Jay Thomas. We almost missed it too had we not been standing at the gate when they announced it over the PA. Jay fed us FREE lunch...yes FREE (thanks Jay & SFKK!)...at Swampwater Jack's, which was really good by the way, and then took us all around Splashwater Kingdom and over to T.E.D.'s track which is soon to be a goner for '08 stuph. We got up close and personal with Deluge. Jay invited us to try picking up a Deluge raft...HEAVY. It was supposed to test later that afternoon, but I had to leave to get my friends to the aeropuerto. Deluge looks like it's going to be WETT HOTT SUMMERR FUNN and should be open by now.

Did I mention I stopped at Guntown Mountain on the way up to HWN?

when did this happen? I wasn't paying attention, but would have heard this over the pa. BTW, I noticed allot of hwn participants ended up at SFKK on Sunday. Either there or beach bend.

It started at 12:30 with a meet at Swampwater Jack's for lunch. It seemed really impromptu as none of us were aware of it til we heard about it over the PA. I think about 8 to 10 people total showed up for it. I forgot to include that Jay mentioned a possible coaster event for the future.

Did I mention I stopped by Guntown Mountain on the way to HWN?
