gax Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 So this was my first time in the USA, I went with my girlffriend and my parents. We had 4 days in New York, then 8 days in Orlando, it was awesome!! I took quite a few photos, and im really bored right now, so prepare for a BIG photo TR! I know its not Theme park related, but I'll start with New York. And I'll end the whistlestop tour of New York with us and the easter bunny! Next up, Seaworld!! Ice Skating at Rockefeller Centre. Cute Squirrel! Central park. Me with the Chrysler. (sp?) Amazing view. I was so excited to go to the top of this! Flatiron, one of my favourite bulidings. Us at Pier 17. We caught the Staten Island ferry at around 10am. Hmmmm, not seen a picture of this before... Day 2! I was proud of this picture Time for dinner! Are we at Universal already!? This thing was really cool OMG! I didn't know Toys R Us hade a ferris Wheel! Us (me looking reeeallly happy) in Times square, about to go into Toys R us! Times square! Inside Macy's. Pretty girrafe things! We made our way to the empire state buliding, and macys, it looks creepy in the mist! So the weather started to clear up and we made our way into the city. When I got off the bus this is what i saw, it felt so wierd/cool to be here! At least the hotel rooms really nice! So we arrive in NYC, and its hammering down with rain, great welcome to the US!
gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Seaworld... Bye Seaworld, thanks for a fun afternoon! Up early tomorrow for Magic Kingdom! One credit i missed out on Ooohh there they are! I don't see any flamingos.. The view was just as good around the back, without heaving crowds! OMG!! look at that queue!!! So we thought we'd go to dolphin cove. They didn't do much.... We headed over to the stingrays.. Something we didn't ride that day.. But I thought this ride was really worth the wait, great fun, awesome themeing, and not too wet! Hmm, a not so great 55 minute queue for Jorney to Atlantis.. RRAAWWWRRRR This ride is awesome! First ride, Kraken, and when its 2pm, boiling hot and a B&M has a five minute queue, everythings good! Here we are at Seaworld! Wooo, coaster in sight!! So we headed out of cold New York and arrived in sunny Florida...
gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Magic Kingdom... Really fun day! IOA coming up next. Bye Bye Magic Kingdom! We took one more ride on BTM before we left. 60 minutes... no thanks! Into adventureland for Jungle Cruise. Yes I know I used this photo before but I forgot to take another! SM was fun, nowhere near Paris's, but I enjoyed it all the same! On our way back to space mountain we did the tomorrowland train thingy.. (bad photo) Aww how pretty! wheeeeeeeeeeeee Actually, this was a really fun little coaster. Credit!!!! This area was a nice little surprise that I didn't know existed. Foooood time!! This was really fun. Just a shame I didn't experience it in it's original glory! Oh well, we got some fastpasses and headed for other rides! Ok, maybe not! This is where the short lines ended, 70 minutes!!!!!! Space Mountain time! Into Tomorrowland we go... Ooo, and look! No line! On our way to Tomorrowland, we stopped at Philharmagic. It was amazing! I actually really liked this haunted house, maybe not as good as the paris phantom manor, but still really fun. Yayyy, yet another walk on ride! Oh well, the queue was non existant! Pirates.. I really liked the mist effect at the beginning, but I prefer the Paris one to this one by a lot.. Across to Adventureland! It was good.. Just didn't match up to the one in Paris... Big Thunder Mountain time! I loved this ride so much! We got a fastpass for later, just incase. Turned out that the que stayed at 10 minutes for most of the day! Nobody riding!!! We headed straight to Splash Mountain... This place is sooo cool!!! Aawww!! It's a shame there was a big line to meet them Visiting on Easter Sunday WAS a good idea! I was SO excited to be here!!

gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Islands of Adventure... Bye Islands of Adventure! Thanks for a fun day! It looked really fun. It's a shame we didn't get to see more of this area. And it didn't look like it was gonna stop soon, so we made a run for the exit. Just after we got the two great Dueling Dragons credits, it started POURING down! After Lunch we headed to the Lost Continent. Oh well, Lunchtime! Okay, now im rediculously wet! Popeye was another 5 minutes! Stop getting us you bastards!! We got SOAKED! Still 5 minutes for dudley Do rights!! We made the most of the nice weather and headed back to toon lagoon. SKLOOSSH!! That was awesome! More pretty dinosaurs Pretty dinosaur Here we go! (it started getting warmer, yaaayy!!) Oh well, Time for the river Adventure! Credit I couldn't get Me with cool dinosaur thingy RAWWRR!! Did I scare you? We ventured into Jurassic Park instead. Dudley Do rights, 5 minute queue? It was a bit too cold at that point! It decided to fix itself when we arrived in Toon Lagoon! Dr. Doom next, quite fun! Unfortnately my camera gave in working at this point. We rode hulk again, and spiderman (brilliant), but I couldn't get any shots There it is! The Hulk! 30 minute line, and worth every second! AMAZING roller coaster. Sooo excited! Here we are at a park that I had been wanting to come to forever!
thrillrideseeker Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 WOW! I love the Islands of Adventure Pictures! Great TR once again! I loved the Hulk shots! I am glad you had fun! Oh and will there be more updates? ~Matthew
gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 yeah, Ive got Busch Gardens, Universal, MASSIVE disney day (MGM, epcot, Animal Kingdom), Blizzard Beach, Magic Kingdom
Louise Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Lovely New York shots! Why do you not look happy in any of the pictures?!?!?!
gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 I'm not sure :/ I hate smiling in photos, I think I look silly haha!! there are more photos where I look happy coming! promise!
gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Busch Gardens.... It was a real shame, I missed out on Kumba, Gwazi etc. But I had a good morning all the same. Now, when we got back on the train, it started to POUR with rain, like really really pour down. We took refuge in a cafe, but 2 hours later it hadn't stopped, they even closed some rides. We decided there was no point, and went back Another really great coaster. We caught the little train over to Montu. After riding Oblivion at Alton Towers about 100000000000 times, this blew me away! This is an absolutley amazing Roller coaster. We went straight to Sheikra! 3 times on the front row in 30 minutes! Busch was an odd day, I barely got any photos (because of reason you will find out) We started by seeing the really cool band!
gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Universal Studios... Bye Bye Universal Orlando! We had a great time! 60 mins for Dudley Do rights?? we may as well, it was boiling! And spiderman was bloody brilliant!! Doctor doom was just as..meh.. as before.. The Hulk was just as awesome as before! We had an afternoon to kill so we headed over to Islands of adventure to get some joyrides in Marvel superhero island. This was cool! not as good as goofy though! Credit time! This really is a beautiful park. But the fact we met the doc and marty more than made up for it!! Such a shame I missed out on this by a couple of weeks We decided to walk back round to back to the future. And then onto Earthquake. The show at the beginning was great, the ride though, wansn't amazing.. Next we headed to Jaws, this ride was really fun, if a little outdated. It was a really fun ride, so much better than crappy British shooters! Men in black had no queue at all! That's where were headed next! This was an amazing ride, so much more than I expected it to be. The line wasn't long so we rode twice. So instead we headed straight for the mummy. As soon as we got in, the queues we already getting big for Jimmy Neutron and Shrek. We thought we'd give them a miss, as theres pleanty of 4D things at Disney, and my dad doesnt really like them. It's Mardi Gra season. We didn't visit on a saturday, however. Here we are at Universal Studios, a place that turned out to be one of my favourite parks in florida.
Swimace Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I moved away from Florida last year and you're making me miss all of those parks! Great pictures
gax Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 its 11 o clock now and im tired, so I'll post the rest of the photos tomorrow! Thanks for the comments!
dino Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Great TR so far . I like seeing trip reports of US parks from people from other countries.
Gnome Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Did you by any chance get on the cat and the hat ride? It's one of the things that I regret I did not go on at IOA. I guess I will just have to do it next time eh? Also I was glad you got on Spiderman, I was freaking out because I saw no mention that you had until the very end. It's a very good ride, one of the best in the world, imo.
gax Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 nahh i didnt get on cat in the hat, line was HUGE whenever we saw it Spiderman was really really great though!
Bubba83 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Are the Disneyland Paris equivalents really that much better? I didn't know that! Very good photo TR also, I love hearing from people out of the area going to these parks for the first time.
gax Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 big disney day coming up next Animal Kingdom, MGM studios AND epcot!! might take me a while.
gax Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 HUGE disney day.... Byebye EPCOT, I had a great day today! Illuminations was a really beautiful show! As night fell we at dinner in morocco! Just like being at home! We wandered around the world for a bit, and arrived in the UK I don't like how its only the front cars of the monorail that have this design.. Awww pretty Test track was reeeally fun, soo fast!! Test track had a 110 minute queue, so this became my first use of the single rider line, in my life! Straight to mission space, 60 minute queue. Very fun ride, sooo realistic! Oh yeah, it's wierd flower show thingy.. Golf Ball. Time for EPCOT (god Im getting tired) Bye Bye MGM Time to head out Very fun ride, if a bit headbangy! Time to head back to the Rock n' roller coaster I still think they should have kept this as the park's icon... The tour was fun! Backlot Tour time! The show was really amazing! theres Herbie! There was a show starting, and a castmember randomly gave us fastpasses for it, so we went in! Hey.. we're back in new york.. It's the cars from cars!! WOW!! Lunchtime!!! We headed towards the other side of the park where I met this cool dinosaur thingy.. The ride was soooooo good! And the line turned out to be more like 40 minutes! The inside doesnt look as cool with a camera flash! And the queueline was really nice.. I don't care though, I want to go on this ride sooo much! Time to hit the 70 minute line.. We grabbed a fastpass for Rock n Roller coaster Before we hit the tower of terror.. Actually.. theres better things to do! YAY! High school musical! What's that I see down there? These things were everywhere... Hmmm, crowds look quite heavy... And onto MGM we go! I don't think I'd ever get bored of this ride! the line had got big, glad we got fastpasses! We headed back to EE Hello disney people!! But it turned out to be really cool! At first I thought it looked quite boring. I wasn't sure what to expect from this.. These crazy people were really cool to watch! And a credit! This was a fun little coaster! Dino-rama time! Next up, It's tough to be a bug! I found this REALLY scary compared to what I expected! The ride was ok, a bit short, but the drop was really fun. After we'd done everest, we headed to the Kali river rapids I couldn't resist! The queue started to get a bit longer, but we rode it one more time! It was ok though as the queueline is awesome! Such a great ride! But for now we made the most of the short line and rode it 3 times. The wait had the potential to get huge so we got some fastpasses for later. I've been wanting to come on this ride since I saw construction starting! After running all the way through animal kingdom, we got HERE!! Pretty tree of life Our day started at animal kingdom, really looking forward to this place.
thefitness Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Nice TR! For some reason I always love seeing my home parks from another person's point of view. Anways, Hope you had a good time!
Swimace Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Great pictures! I've done the MGM-Epcot-AK one day combo before and it takes a lot out of you! Did you only get on Test Track and Mission: Space at EPCOT? I think it's hard to spend a whole day at MGM or AK, but there's so much to do at EPCOT that I can spend so much time there.
gax Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 yeah, at that point I did, I popped in again after blizzard beach (the next day) and did some more, but didn't take any photos.
