Quick Photo TR: Great America - Santa Clara, Ca.

Thats right, I decided the heck with stuffing my face full of fiber...why not go get your season pass processed on your lunch, while taking in some rides?! Good idea, self.

 

I grabbed a hold of my trusty season pass print out, and i was on my way.

Now, bear with me. This is my first TR report, ever. (im also very random)

 

NEW FOR 2007

No! its el Mustache!

aaaah, head for the hills! the Mustache is in town!

Please forgive the faded tattoo, she will be updated for the new coaster season. I usually have to go into disguise when in public, so el Mustache helps in a pinch when getting into monkey shines or acting a fool.

 

I was diligent in my driving, due to my lack of time.

I even managed to miss the children crossing the streets. Dogging and ducking through backpacks, and crossing guards in my mighty green civic.

 

Then I saw it....

 

Still says "Paramount" - YUCK!

 

 

aaaah, MUCH BETTER!

 

 

Are they leaving room for the "Knott's"? Lets knott talk about that again till next season. Yes?

 

I digress, I digress...

 

 

I started to make my way to the Season Pass Center when I ran into some swings...

 

OUCH!

 

 

DOUBLE OUCH!

 

 

is this the line for the new 2007 ride?!

 

 

Holy crap, thats the line to process my e~ticket!

I quickly changed into el Mustache, and cursed the line gods.

 

 

 

After shaking my fist at the long snaking queue, I decided to jump on the Demon.

 

California green, ...grass that is.

 

 

Most of the lines looked like this

Demon was running two trains today, and had a new seat-belt unit for the harnesses. My ride was way rougher than I remember from last season.

Well, I made it safe n' sound. too bad I couldn't say the same for the people getting onto this ride....

 

 

 

Sad news struck the park today: 4 visitors were tragically and instantly killed when their raft crash landed into a bed of flowers.

 

 

HEY LOOK, A COASTER!

 

 

Everyone soon forgot about the tragedy, and woes.

 

 

 

 

There's those long lines again.. *cough*

 

 

 

After jumping off Invertigo, I decided to use the rest of my time to take photos of my short visit. She left me weak in the knees she did, that yellow tracked vixen....till we meet again Mon Âme.

 

I feel like Ichabod Crane walking down this canopied road, always looking over my shoulder.*gulp*

 

 

Whats the name of this ride again????

thanks Homer! yeah, the line is crazy. you cant see it, but it snakes in the back for what seems like forever. i wasn't about to waste my hour on that.

Do alot of their rides not have real station houses? I noticed Invertigo and Demon didn't have one.

Hmmm, it looks kind of depressing this season...I thought maybe it'd be more cleaned up, it's got competition with SFDK now!

^No, Most of the rides don't have real stations.

Why did they bother adding seat belts to Demon. The ride is slow, boring, and the tunnel does nothing but hide an obvious trim brake. If Cedar Fair wants to do something good with the ride, Bring back all the old scenery.

Luckly, I had the Good (Gurnee) Great America up until 9 months ago. Now Knott's Great America is one of the closest parks to me (even if it is a couple hundred miles.) (I live in the Seattle area.)

 

But this photo trip report is pretty neat as it looks like and doesn't look like Six Flag's Great America at the same time.

 

Like for example that Swinging Ship. V^2 should be there. And Vortex, Batman the Ride should be there. And Grizzly, a waterride should be there with American Eagle behind that.

 

And Demon, well, we have the good demon that actually plays the music in the line and stuff like that.

grizzly was up and running, they just didn't have the lettering on the sign.

yeah, unfortunately i did. i'm actually thinking of going back again today and braving the season pass line.

i agree. its the best coaster they have there, they should show the track some love. although, most of the queues got new hand rail paint and were significantly cleaner than last season. it makes me hopeful for things to come from CF.

compared to last season, its definitely cleaner. i just hope they bring back the great theming the park once had.

Glad to finally see some 2007 pictures of PGA...I mean, KGA...no wait, just GA. I'll be there in mid May for the first time since late 1999 (Stealth construction). Hopefully, I'll get a decent visit this round and get some missed credits. The lines have always been 2 hours minimum each time I've gone, and still remember Top Gun's line going back to the carousel when it first opened.
