Good album. My special edition came in the mail today. I've seen a lot of fans complaining that it isn't heavy enough .... oh well. They needed to mature their sound. The rapcore kiddies will have to find something else to latch onto, LP have thankfully moved on.

Finally listened to the whole album. Not impressed at all. Random cursing for no reason, lots of handclapping beats that make it seem like the song was written for high school pep rallies, a song or two that was probably written for Fort Minor but didn't make the final cut, and just lots of average at best mellowed songs that aren't nearly as good as "In the End" or "Numb". I'd say out of all the songs on the album, I like about 1/3 of them, which is far less than the other albums.

I just bought it, on track 5 and the only good song so far is the 2nd one... This truly sucks ass... More of a 'put it on to make you cry' type thing, not emo though...

Damn you Chester! You were supposed to be BETTER! Not worse!

hopefully the last few will make it better

*edit* I'm not too fussed by it... Some songs aren't too good, but it does redeem itself from the Jay-Z crap

Sorry for the double post but heres my rating on the songs.....

1. Wake 3/5---Can't really rate this as a song, it was an ok intro, but I didn't find it that mandatory.... :/

2. Given Up 5/5--- One of the best songs on the album. Reminds me a lot of their old style with the hard heavy guitars, and screaming. Plus that 17 second scream is AMAZING!

3. Leave Out All The Rest 4/5--- I wasn't really paying much attention to this song at first, but it's my friends favorite off the cd, so I gave it some more listens, and it's now in my top songs from the album.

4. Bleed It Out 5/5--- Good old LP style here! Chester singing/screaming with Mike's rapping can never go wrong. The chorus gets me every time, and I just freaking love Mike's rhymes.

5. Shadow Of The Day 3/5--- Chester kinda sings a little too quiet here. Weird sound for him in this. But not bad at all.

6. What I've Done 5/5--- Being the single for the album I thought I would get sick of this quick. But nope! I still love this song, and the lyrics rock.

7. Hands Held High 4/5--- Use to be my favorite song of the album, but then I realized they could have done a little better with it, the beat is kinda just meh, but the lyrics Mike wrote for this are great, very meaningful.

8. No More Sorrow 5/5--- GREAT old LP sound! Heavy guitars, screaming, I love this song. But yet, not my favortie of the album. They were on AOL Sessions a little while ago and performed this, did a great job.

9. Valentine's Day 4/5--- Never really caught my attention, untill I thought to myself I really gotta give their slow songs a chance. This is a great song, but it seems to just go on-and-on.

10. In Between 5/5--- PROPS to Mike for this! Great vocals for a man who usually raps all the time. The chorus is very catchy and his verses are awesome. Great job Mike!

11. In Pieces 6/5--- WOW, this song is amazing, I can't get enough of it. It is my favorite of the album by far, I love the beat, and the xylophone is a great instrument to experiment with and they made it sound amazing in this.

12. The Little Things Give You Away 2/5--- I know they recorded this after visiting New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, but I really don't like this song....It's not LP at all, even though all the songs on this album were different from their style I think this was pushing it. This song bores me...

Sorry, but this is blasphemy. This song IS LP. The whole point of this album was to break the boundaries they had set for themselves and make the music they wanted to without trying to fit a sound. This song is a perfect example of that. Moreover, the layered vocal vamp at the end of the song makes me happy in a big, musician with chills kind of way.

Heh, not wanting to boast or anything, but I've trained my voice to go for 30 seconds... It's so painful, but It's going to sound awesome live
