Swoosh Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 STINGER (new Wisdom Tornado ride) has arrived and is assembled in the park's parking lot http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/celebration/031907/
CP_RULES Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 All hail the OzCat! Cool to see CC is getting updates. I cant wait to go to SDC and CC over the summer.
Shavethewhales Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Erg, I was hoping they would at least get a semi-attractive lighting/themeing package, this looks like the cheapest, most basic model they could get - it even looks like it is trailer-mounted! Gosh... seriously, this is a Hershend park, not a fun fair. I would much rather them save up their funds than go off buying cheap fair rides like this.
Swoosh Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 In the park's defense, the ride has just recently arrived and they have not started to "Herschend" it yet. While I do agree it does look very "carny", how many parks do you know of have a ride like this? At least it will be something unique.
bgwfreak Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Those make me sick. They are cheap rides though and will probably be popular with the GP. As someone once said, those are like if a Waveswinger and a Teacups had a child together.
dr.gumbo Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I thought the park was meant to feel more like a fair!
Shavethewhales Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 ^mmmm, no. At least not a crappy fair. The park is supposed to be a celebration of the 60's, not a carnival. Meh, I'm still hoping for it to be Hershenicized.
Swoosh Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 How is this anymore crappy then the fair versions of Chaos (since removed), Hi Miler (Jack Rabbit), Afterburner (Fireball), Flying Carpet (Orbitor), Tilt-a-whirl, and Scrambler, and a portable Log Flume. It's not like it won't fit in with the current rides they have considering almost all of them were/still are portable models.
Shavethewhales Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Eh, well almost none of the rides are portable, or at least look portable. Some of the rides like the fireball do indeed stand out as carnivalish-looking, but that doesn't mean the park needs more rides like them. Really, one of the biggest 'problems' I have with this ride is that it is a complete fair ride - almost no practical park operates one, or would consider one. That and the fact that it shows a fair amount of rust. I keep asking, why? Why did they feel the need to buy this cheap fair ride when they could have saved the funds for something better or a more practical park application. Really, in the end it doesn't matter. All this is is a simple filler ride, I just had my hopes to high. I still would have rather them saved the space and money for something better though.
