Allright,

Here's whats going on.My dad's basically been commuting to California(L.A. area) ,and then coming home every weekend. As you can imagine it's really expensive ,and tiring for him.He wants my Mom and I to move out there to L.A. with him. I've lived in Florida my whole life, and always lived in the same house.I love California, and I think I'd adjust fine to living there. The tricky part is, my mom isn't too excited to just pick up and leave(her family is here,my sister goes to college here)

If we did end up moving it would to L.A.(El Segundo or Manhattan Beach) or possibly further away from the city.

So I geuss what I'm asking is,How hard is it to move to another state? And, Has anyone made the move from Florida to California?Any advice at all would be appriciated.

I made the move from Florida to California.

I like Florida about a million times more. Moving is never easy, but you'll certainly adjust just fine. I'm sure you'll have an easier time than your mom.

I'm ready to move back to Florida anytime now!

Thanks Elissa.I think one of the few things I will miss about Florida is it's themeparks(And of course family and friends)

I still have no idea about how I feel about moving.

Well we've been looking at townhouses to rent, and then the question came up "What high school am I going to go to?"

Has anyone ever been to El Segundo High? or any other L.A. area high schools? Also does California use the "Choice Program"(School Zoning)?

It would help a lot if you could give any info you know about the schools! Thanks!

I hear Watts has some wonderful academic institutions, and some great youth organisations like the Crips and the Bloods.

I lived in the same area my whole life so I can appreciate how hard it would be for you, I hope it goes well.

Oh, by the way I'm just kidding abou Watts, don't go there, ever - not even in your worst nightmare.

I had a simmilar experience. I was bout your age (I was 14) when we moved from Seattle to Eastern North Carolina. It took a little time to adjust, and being further away from family was tough (my dad still lives in the Seattle area), but it can also be a great experience. You get to meet new people, and you get to see what life in another place is like. That and I am sure that you and your family would be able to visit Florida, even if not as much as you would like. I went to visit my dad every summer until 2004 when I went to work at Cedar Point for the first time.

I have to say that I do miss Seattle, but to be completly honest, I am not sure if I would want to move back. Although I am not the biggest fan of Greenville, it has its positives. It just depends on how you look at it.

^Thanks. I'm still trying to realize that I may not be living in Florida by the end of the summer. It'll be a big change, but I think I'm ready. Thanks for the advice!
