Sir Clinksalot Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Hey all, Just finished editing my first EVER video, it's of MNSSHP at MK. It's 9 minutes long which I know is WAY too big. Problem is the size ... not the time. It's 1.91GB. I edited it in Premier but I know there is a way to compress it down. I have searched the help on Premier but haven't found anything regarding compressing it. Any help would be appreciative. Thanks.
SharkTums Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 There are various plugin's you can buy/download that will compress it. I don't have any on this computer, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 HOLY SHIT 2 GIGBYTES?!?!?!?! You do need a compressor!
Carnage Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 ^ You obviously have not worked with raw digital video before. I've compressed videos using Premier. You just gotta play around with the quality settings when you're exporting.
TheBannedKid Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 What version of Premiere? I have Pro 1.5 and I use the Adobe Media Encoder to save/compress my videos. Its under Export in the File Tab. I usually save my videos as Windows Media Player WM9 NTSC 512K download, but for a 9 minute video you might want to go to 256K...
robbalvey Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 You can import your video into Windows Movie Maker (comes free with Windows XP) and export it as a .wmv file. Here are the settings I use for the TPR .wmv videos:
Sir Clinksalot Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 ^ Thanks Robb. I was converting it to Divx which helped but I know I can't use that to burn DVD's for use on the tube. I will try that tomorrow morning. I also wanted to post them in the video forum, but I wasn't sure if you accepted Divx. Hopefully this will work and I can share the video's with TPR.
robbalvey Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 ^ The problem with Divx is that it's not a "standard" codec that comes with WindowsXP. Sure a lot of people have it, but by using it you are already limiting your audience. IMO, the "lowest common denominators" when it comes to videos is wmv, mov, or mpg. --Robb
Sir Clinksalot Posted November 15, 2006 Author Posted November 15, 2006 ^ Agreed. I was only using the Divx until I found another way to do it ... which you showed me. Thankfully YouTube uses Divx so I was able to put a couple of video's on there. Wasn't able to upload anything today, finishing up Universal stuff. This video editing crap is time consuming.
CoasterFanatic Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 If your main goal is to get the video onto a DVD. Best to go with MPEG2. It is the standard. Trouble is ... you usually have to purchase the codec unless you already have some software installed that includes it.
mcjaco Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 This video editing crap is time consuming. It certainly isn't the most exciting thing to do, but a well edited video is so worth it.
