I just read about it (in themepark.nl)

Here is the article :

Rescue services have freed 18 people who were trapped upside down on a fairground ride at Strathclyde Country Park, in Hamilton, near Glasgow.

Fire and ambulance crews released the riders, aged between eight and 27, within two hours of a mechanical fault, which happened just before 2100 GMT.

The revellers had to be freed in pairs from the ride, where they were stuck 20ft (6m) above the ground.

Everyone was removed from the ride by 2300 GMT, Strathclyde Police said.

Most of the people were believed to be suffering from dizziness.

One 27-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from shock.

Health and safety officers are due to assess the ride

Rescuers worked to free revellers stuck on the ride

It is understood the young people had been hanging upside down for half an hour before engineers managed to free the mechanism that enabled the passengers to be brought upright.

Strathclyde Fire Brigade used lines to steady the ride and turn it round in stages to bring each group of passengers close to the ground.

Firefighters also used ladders to bring people to safety.

Ronnie Nesbit, whose daughters were trapped, has expressed anger about the entire incident.

"My daughters were here and my son and I got a phone call saying the two of them were stuck up there," he said.

"I think the information passed across to the likes of parents like myself - got pushed from pillar to post by the police again, and there was just no information coming across."

Meanwhile, health and safety officials are due to make a full inspection of the ride.

Insp Derek Brown of Strathclyde Police said: "It could have been a much more serious incident.

"Fortunately only one person was taken to hospital."

More details In here .

Poor riders , I just think about who it felt being there like that 30 minutes. I can't handle being upside down more than 1 minute.

Here's another article from BBC news:

I also found which model got stuck upside down: the Move-It 18. Here's another news article that shows the photo of the ride stuck upside down:

In reading the comments, they tried to turn it right side-up gently but couldn't. So they finally cut the feed lines to the hydraulic motor and the boom swung the seating area right side up.

it's good no one died or was injured.

I've never been on one, are they are good..?

one person nearly had a panic attack and another was sent to hospital.

they're a great one-trick pony, but they are, by far, more painful than any Vekoma i've ridden, and thats saying something

I love the ride. I have only been on the smaller Spinout.. But its the same ride movememnt.

The ride in question is a Move It 18, which is *surprise* smaller than the KMG Spinout, known as Move It 24 here in Europe...

I read the topic of this thread as "Movie: It got stuck upside down in the UK for 30 min." Thought it was a new movie of Guy

On topic: being upside down for 30 min. must be horrible, not to mention the pain you must have of laying on a restraint

KMG Move-its are awesome, one of my favorite flat rides ever! I have to agrue that they uncomfortable, since i've always found them very comfortable considering how much your upside down.

This does seem like a problem reoccuring problem for these to get stuck upside once in a while (power loss?), I remember it happening once before at some church carnival here in the states.

That place is what could be considered my home park, but calling it a park is maybe a bit unfair, its more like a travelling carnival that doesnt go anywhere, since its owned by M&D, a travelling fair company. I wasnt there that day.

Its quite sad to see it took so long for emergency services to get there. Its not exactly an out of the way place.

the ride broke down about 8.20 over an hour & a half. they did not let the ride down in stages. they finally cut the hydraulic feed

the first boy to be freed was suffering panic attacks.

M&D's is a large attraction, in lanarkshire. The fire Brigade should have been more prepared for something like this to happen.

seated area just dropped. i'm surprise& the kids were hung upside down for d none of the kids suffered injuries from the jolt of being thrown.

stupid gp they said they dropped them out of there seats ya right &

I'm suprised that no one blacked out!

While I was on The Looper hamster cage ride at Knoebels, thr attendent forgot to release the stablizer on my car and after20 to 25 seconds all the blood rushed to my head. It felt very wierd. I feel their pain.
