coaster_kid Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 I'm starting to get into video editing, and I was wondering what kind of program should I use? I've been using Windows Movie Maker, but I want to buy something better.
SharkTums Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Adobe Premier is better, but also much more expensive. Elissa "how much are you willing to spend?" Alvey
BarryH Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 I use Pinnacle Studio 9, which is a fairly easy program to use if you're used to Windows Movie Maker. You can use Premiere, but I took one look at the demo version and I felt overwhelmed! It takes time to learn Premiere.
Justin Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 I have Premiere.. But I'm curious to know if it allows you to edit HD Material? I will be getting the Sony HDR-FX1 soon and I was wondering if Premiere 6 lets you edit it in High Def.
coaster1 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Premiere 7 may since thats the latest version, something like Vegas will .. I use Pinnacle Studio 9.4 and Premiere 7
Justin Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I can't even find Premiere 7 on Adobe's site.. Link?
coaster1 Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Well it's called Premiere Pro now .. forgot to mention that. And they have a HDV plug-in for Premier Pro 1.5 (Premiere 7) .. which is cool
CoasterFanatic Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Currently using Vegas. Very comparable to Premier in fuctionality and price.
Jew Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 All editing programs do the same thing and have more or less the same features give or take a few things. I would suggest downloading demo versions of all the previously mentioned programs and see which one you like best because they all have their own unique interfaces.
joshg678 Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I use Vegas 4.0 right now. I have found out ways to make it do things that Adobe Premier does, but Premier makes it easier. I would suggest starting off with Windows movie maker, then once you know that inside and out (takes about 5 min), Then possibly moving to Pinnacle Studio once you know all of Windows movie maker inside and out. Then you should move over to something like Vegas 4 or 5. Once you got Vegas down, you should move over to Adobe Premier. Before i knew everything i know about vegas, i could not figure out Adobe Premier at all. Now i am starting to work with it to understand it a bit more. It all depends on what you like to work with. I honestly thing Vegas has a nicer look to it then Adobe Premier. But Premier has much more features, and some times runs faster then Vegas.
coaster1 Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Yeah there's a huge learning curve on Premiere .. I started with 5, now using 7 (Pro) and still learn new stuff every single day .. found 7 (Pro) has even more new stuff and threw alot of the old 6/6.5 stuff out for newer interfaces.
joshg678 Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Right now i mess with Adobe Premier some times, but once i know how to mess with it and get everything to work really nicely, im gonna upgrade to pro.
