mr_teisco_delrey Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 My wife gave me the choice of yard work or an afternoon on the Kentucky Rumbler. After a millisecond of arm twisting, we were on the Parkway headed to Beech Bend. Pictures below. We saw this as we turned off of the highway to go to the park. A good omen for the rest of the afternoon.
mr_teisco_delrey Posted September 9, 2006 Author Posted September 9, 2006 Beech Bend was a bit slow. The weather was pretty overcast. Other time over the summer, their were more people in the park. I talked to some of the ride ops, and they mentioned that they were swamped over the weekend. I asked if the Rumbler had boosted crowds. They answered yes. Asprin? I thought the prices were a tad bit high. Still less than KY Kingdom though. Free Pepsis would be a plus though Hint hint. Waving at our daughter that was too chicken to ride. The turns were a bit painful though. On to the mouse. Here we are leaving the station. Here is a Signature shot taken from the Flying Bobs. Please wash before you eat or get in the car. These goats are trained to attck you when you enter the petting zoo area. Here are some of the twists. With as twisty as the Rumbler is , it is smooth. Going up and around a turn. The best place to be on this ride is the back. The main event. The Rumbler at the top of the hill. I think the first year has been pretty good to it. It was giving some great rides that day. Very small teacups. It looked so innocent. Wrong! This ride had a bit of a rough landing. I am still trying to figure the dyed blue water thing. Even though it appears this ride has seen better days, it was still fun.
mr_teisco_delrey Posted September 9, 2006 Author Posted September 9, 2006 Finished the day at Mancinos. There are few of these in Kentucky. Darn good pizza, even for a guy from Chicago! For a quick afternoon trip, Beech Bend was a good time. As a side note. It looks like they have put in a little more landscaping since May. I do wish they would bury the power lines to the rides.
ginzo Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Kentucky Rumbler really is a great ride. I wound up liking it more than Thunderhead, because Rumbler tracked far better in my experience. I think it's easily the best coaster in the state. That, of course, doesn't say much. The only aspect I didn't like was the absurd exit ramp you have to go down. They need to clean up Beech Bend a bit. The petting zoo was pretty gross. The flume had really disgusting looking water. And the whole place just felt more like a fair than an amusement park. Rumbler definitely is a step in the right direction.
SharkTums Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Free Pepsi is NEVER a good thing!!!! Grrrrr....
jamesdillaman Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Johnny wants a brain, "Johnny wants to suck on a Coke" Johnny wants a woman, Johnny wants to think of a joke. -James "Johnny doesn't like pepsi, either.." Dillaman
pvcoasterguy Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Did you ride Scat II? Anyway, nice TR. And for the record, Pepsi is better than Coke, but Cherry Coke owns all.
Hercules Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Free Pepsi is NEVER a good thing!!!! Grrrrr.... I don't care what you say, free ANYTHING is a good thing
mr_teisco_delrey Posted September 10, 2006 Author Posted September 10, 2006 Free Pepsi is NEVER a good thing!!!! Grrrrr.... -James "Johnny doesn't like pepsi, either.." Dillaman Us KY hicks love Pepsi. Did you get a load of the weird prices on the food? Oh well. A free Coke park would work for me.

To qoute Robb "Now I know what an aneurysm feels like". Any ride that merges a Roundup and a Scrambler will kill. The surprise of the day was the Moby Dick. I loved the drops, and it was fast.
