Carnage
But answer my question: Which park is better for a summer trip: Mall Of America's Camp Snoopy or West Edmonton Mall's Galaxyland/World Waterpark? That really depends on where you live. Who's going to fly long distance just to ride one good roller coaster in a mall? I'd probably do it if I found a SUPER cheap flight, but otherwise wouldn't. At least MoA is in an area that has other parks to make a trip more worthwhile. The closest park to WEM is probably like 3 days worth of solid driving. Calaway park is about a four hour drive away I mean, what looks like the better park.. as if.. money was no object and you could get there with magic or something. Which park in itself is the better park? Who's going to fly long distance just to ride one good roller coaster in a mall? Um.. We have the worlds largest indoor waterpark with the worlds tallest indoor bungee jump, SilverStar theater, Galaxyland also has tonnes of thrilling rides. Mindbender isn't the only one. We have the worlds tallest indoor drop tower... The worlds largest indoor wavepool, north america's largest mall, an NHL sized skating rink, Huge minigolf course.. there is TONNES to do in that mall. Plus we have exibits and stuff that come around the mall every once in a while. The mall has tonnes to do.. and you'll never get bored unless you have no idea how to have fun. Carnage
^ A kiddy coaster and an arrow corkscrew would sure make the $300 flight worth it. Edit: I think I'm being misunderstood. I know theres alot to do at WEM, and it is somewhere I REALLY want to visit sometime. I just mean that it's so out of the way that it makes it a difficult choice over other destination. Vekoma Fan Boy
Wow no one has asked the Real question yet. Why are all three cars on the train lead cars? EDIT oh yeah and why doesn't the park own the third loop on the coaster!? http://mindbender.freewebspace.com/custom.html WTF!?!?!???!?!

Yes Calaway Park sucks, but you never said the park had to be good.. Wow no one has asked the Real question yet. Why are all three cars on the train lead cars!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?! They aren't.. just because they are shaped the same doesnt mean they are all lead cars.. I personally think they look cool that way. And the back car turns backwards. Shockwave
As long as Mindbender isn't going to be ripped out, I won't be rushing to ride it anytime soon. But I'll be on the second plane to Canada if the ride gets sentenced to death. Naturally Joe will be on the first plane.

A lot of Americans I talk to think it automatically sucks because its Canadian and indoors... And the ride is very well maintained.. its one of the safest rides in the world.. why would they rip it out?
BeemerBoy
A rare species has surfaced today...the WEM fanboy. I'm with Shockwave.... this is one of those coasters that I'll wait as long as possible to ride, simply because it's in an area that offers me nothing beyond a great ride and an Edmonton Oilers game. Most enthusiasts when asked about Canada will mention Rollercoaster at PNE and Mindbener at WEM as the two rides they'd badly want to ride. Just seems like Schwarzkops (sp?) are dieing breed. They seem to be getting taken out left right and centre world wide.

Carnage
^ Yeah, why bother going to see one of those west coast teams. Every sane hockey fan knows that Canadas only real hockey team is in Toronto.

Why are the other cars shaped like a lead car as far as my brain can see the would be more expensive because the nose piece would only be needed on the front car. Think about it.. the ride used to have 4 cars [correct me if I'm wrong].. so maybe if they didnt have the extra weight of lead cars, it wouldnt make the circuit. OILERS ROCK! You people suck. Carnage
It's actually topics like this that make me really annoyed that north america doesn't have cheap airfare like Europe. If we had Europes prices on airfare I would have totally flown to Edmonton and Vancouver by now. But at a few hundred dollars it just doesn't work. Calaway Park
Admission prices are extremely small though 25$ for unlimited rides. It might be based on age but thats what it was for me.

Schwarzkopfs have been dropping like flies recently, and although I see no need for it be removed - it's a signature attraction and the park seem happy to keep it maintained, I will keep my eye on it. But if it's there for a while, there are other places in the world I will be going before I visit the West Edmonton Mall.

But the flight there would cost me a few hundred dollars. So the cheap admission wouldn't really help at all. I try and keep an eye out for last minute flight deals. If I could find a dirt cheap flight at some random time, then maybe. But otherwise I'm going going anytime soon unless business brings me to Edmonton. Which will never happen as all my business contacts are in Niagara Falls.
CD
But answer my question: Which park is better for a summer trip: Mall Of America's Camp Snoopy or West Edmonton Mall's Galaxyland/World Waterpark? Personally I would much rather go to MOA (I go there and to Valleyfair! every year), I like the park at MOA and the MOA and IMO it looks MUCH nicer than Galaxyland. You have one good coaster, so what? I would much rather go to a really nice well themed park with mediocre rides than an alright park with one good coaster and some mediocre rides. You also have Valleyfair!, the Water Park of America, and Minneapolis right next door. I would never go on a vacation just to go to one mall and then come home, but I like going to the MOA because of its great location and the attractions nearby. I am not saying this because I don't like Canada or because I don't want anything to do with Canadian rides. This is just my opinion Calaway Park, so don't go around saying I am anti-Canada after you read this. I am just expressing my opinion. I personally would love to try this coaster and go to WEM, but like previously said I probably won't go for a while unless the ride is going to be torn down. Carnage
Plus the chance of me convincing freinds to come along with me would be zero. So I'd be flying cross country to go to a park by myself. That would definetly count as sad and pathetic.

Have you even been there? The video doesn't show it but it is. And Galaxyland doesn't just have [one good coaster] why do people keep saying this? We have an S&S double shot, a top spin with a WICKED program, Solar Flare, a Moser Hoppla, Sonic Storm.. its great! MOA isn't themed that well. Galaxyland has great operations.. the ride queues are very short and I've never waited longer than ten minutes for a ride. THe park is very clean and well kept. Galaxyland is located RIGHT next door (same mall close) To the worlds largest indoor waterark! World Waterpark! Also, we have edmonton right outside with the Telus WOS, and these huge greenhouse piramid thingys. Sure we dont have Vallefair!, but its Canada... Thats MY opinion. Not dissing yours, just saying that mine is.. well.. the complete and total opposite.
