dragsterfan420 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Has anyone else heard the rumor that Kingda Ka is sinking and is now 419' tall. I highley dought it but I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard about it?
coasterguy618 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 There is no possible way that a coaster could sink.
gmoney422 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 It's true guys! And also... I heard El Toro's slowly being eaten by the lake monster!!!
methylene Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 I thought it was just New Jersey that was sinking. All those landfills are taking their toll. Or was that stinking? Matt
the_rock401 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 There is no possible way that a coaster could sink. Don't bet on it. Unless the footers were driven/drilled to bedrock, there is always going to be some footing settlement. It will be a different amount depending on the soil type, and most of the time the settlement amounts to less than a tenth of an inch over 30 years, but sometimes that is enough to really screw up some structures, depending on how much tolerance is built into the design. dragsterfan420 Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 im just aking a question. And im not just doing this to hear myself talk, I actually heard this rumor on another forum. And like Paul said it could be sinking if the footers aren't in solid ground. This happened to the Bat at Paramount's King's Island.
robbalvey Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Yes, Kingda Ka is really sinking...and so is Magnum....and Mothra was born at Tobu Zoo..... --Robb "Thread closed." Alvey
