robbalvey Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Here's a really good picture that shows the entire layout: www.coastercentral.com has ton of other good photos of Kanonen also! --Robb
Mind Eraser Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 I wonder why so many parks are going with Intamin. Why not go with Premier Rides for a launcher? I'm guessing that Premier is way more expensive than Intamin? Premier has a better safety record, and they have a lap bar system for inverting coasters. I mean, I love Intamin, but they have always seemed a bit shady. -kip-
CoasterFanatic Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 ^^ I would love to see what the g-Force read out would look like for this thing. // The KWL that looks like an EKG
pupkick Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 So I'm looking at that picture, and it looks like a blast (pun intended!) but why does it look like the bottom half of the picture has track stolen from the Whizzer at SFGAm, and the top half has the standard intamin box looking track/support look? Weird.
SharkTums Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Intamin has pretty much always used the box or even triangle track for faster, more gforce areas of their coasters, then just the flat track for other parts. You can see them do that on the Superman: ROS rides in particular. Elissa "I asked that same question at some point!" Alvey
Stitch Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 That Swarzkopft in the background looks like fun too , I still think Kanonen looks amazing though! I think it is funny how Premier's Mad Cobras are basicly a ton of figure eights and Kanonen is pretty similar by having two figure eights and some inversions thrown in.
Scaparri Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 ^Yeah, it was said to be one of Schwartzkopf's favorites. Anyway, I think Kanonen looks great. I really wish more parks here in the U.S. would follow the lead of some of the European parks. I think it would be awesome to see weird and compact coasters (Kanonen, Daemonen) and insane custom hypers (Expedition GeForce). Instead of wasting their money on an SLC or Volare, why not go with something like Kanonen or Daemonen? I wonder why so many parks are going with Intamin. Why not go with Premier Rides for a launcher? I'm guessing that Premier is way more expensive than Intamin? Premier has a better safety record, and they have a lap bar system for inverting coasters. I mean, I love Intamin, but they have always seemed a bit shady. I love Premier and all, but if I were to build a park, I would probably go with an Intamin myself. Reason being, riding on an Intamin is like skating on glass; riding on a Premier is like driving on a pothole filled road. Premier's rides are amazing, but from my experience, they don't do well with time.
