downunder
What are some of the most travelled coasters that are still operating ? Here are some of my nominees : Demon at Wonderland Sydney originally came from Brisbane and now has a home in Alabama at Visionland. Flashback at Magic Mountain was at several SF parks before find a place in the sun in Cali to bang heads - operating status currently dubious. Geronimo at Luna Park Sydney wound up on the other side of Australia in Perth.
robbalvey
This one seemed to have traveled a lot before it met it's doom: http://www.rcdb.com/id345.htm And so has this shuttle loop (I rode this one at Alton Towers) http://www.rcdb.com/id1152.htm Here's another Schwartzkopf that's been around the block: http://www.rcdb.com/id2374.htm Even one of Six Flags Magic Mountain's coasters has moved around a bit: http://www.rcdb.com/id1142.htm I'm sure there must be other that have been relocated at least 3 or 4 times. --Robb
Sir Clinksalot
^^ Well, you mentioned "Still Operating" .. IMO Flashback at SFMM shouldn't count.
coaster1
Shouldn't Zonga count? It was a fairground coaster, so it's operated in several sites in Germany, SFAW and now SFMW .. I'd count that as most traveled .. or any fairground coaster .. but those are so hard to keep up with.
robbalvey
^ Yeah, I agree...but I think he meant more like "most relocated" coaster. Meaning a coaster that has been moved from permanent location to another the most amount of times. There's got to have been a Boomerang or two that have moved at least three times. The only one I can think of is: http://www.rcdb.com/id629.htm --Robb
coaster1
Hmm yeah .. I know there's an Invertigo that's been moved alot in Europe .. I think it's on it's third or fourth home now. Why is it always the Vekoma's?
Movieguy
It looks like this old Jetstar's been around the block too. http://www.rcdb.com/id445.htm I think it even had a bad accident one time during it's days as "Starchaser" at SFKK.
sixflagsgreatadven
How about the Canobie Corkscrew? Or Zonga.
boardwalkbullet91507
Goliath at SFOT has been a few places. From Japan, to NOLA, and to San Antonio. http://rcdb.com/3976.htm And the Hornet at Wonderland operated in Canada before coming to Houston at SFAW (RIP) and then a little up North to Amarillo. http://rcdb.com/3513.htm Just a few ive ridden... MrSum1_55
This looping star has been to quite a few places, before ending up in Botswana. rcdb.com/9848.htm
mark549
It's not the "most travelled" coaster anywhere, but Aftershock at Silverwood should be a candidate for "best coaster" that has been relocated. It's definitely the best I've been on (that has been relocated). It apparently is more reliable at Silverwood than it was at Six Flags. Their Corkscrew, relocated from Knott's, is mostly a historical curiosity. It wasn't rough but it wasn't memorable either.
canobie#1
I am going to nominate the Canobie Corkscrew. First operated in a traveling carnival, then an indoor amusement park in chicago, now here. In a few years, it will be in a new park hopefully.
