JulieWent
Hey, everyone! You were so helpful in planning our Cedar Point trip this summer. I thought I'd try again. We're going to be in the UK and France next summer. We thought we'd try to take in a few theme parks, specifically in the UK. Since some of you just came back from what sounds like an *interesting* trip there, I thought I might ask for advice. If you could visit only two theme parks in the UK, which two would you go for? (DS is currently asking about Alton Towers and Blackpool.) Thanks! Julie

What Now
If at all possible, I'd recomend spending 1 or 2 nights at the Alton Towers hotel and/or Big Blue Hotel. The are nice placces to stay and aren't expensive compared to hotels in London.
scottVishere
I think the best parks in england are thorpe park and possibly flamingo land for there new bike rollerskater!
Shockwave
Depending how much time you have to kill, I'd really recommend getting down to Oakwood. Big problem is the distance/time to get there, it's a good 4 hours from London. Alton Towers and Blackpool are must visit places.
Carnage
Depends on how much credit whoring you want to do. Alton and Blackpool should get the most attention by far. Other then those two parks I found all the rest of the parks in the UK to be mostly credit stops, nothing that I would rush back to. For instance I enjoyed my time at say Flamingoland,Lightwater Valley,Chessginton, etc but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go running back. Gnome
I'd go to Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Flamingo land. Black POol might be of interest as well, although I personally would not go out of my way to go thier unless of course I was doing a trip specifically meant for themeparks. ReDMaN B
I guess blackpool is okay, since you have pepsi max big one and ice blast. But personally I would choose Alton Towers, although it's a big park, there isn't too much in it, but they have some nice rides, e.g. : Oblivion, Nemesis and a few others. Thorpe Park would definetly by my main choice though, it's a small park packed with a load of rides. I'm pretty sure I can safely say every thrill ride there is actually good. eggzter
I would suggest Blackpool as a definite place to visit, Southport and the legendary fun house is only about 30 mins away. could easily do both in 1 day, also Southport has regular Friday late night opening specials, for about £5.00, great value. otherwise book online £10, compared to £ 18 at the gate for a day wristband. 2nd choice would have to be Alton towers, in terms of travelling, it is about 2-3 hours drive south from Blackpool, Both parks are quite close to Manchester also, so consider flying there instead of London
niiicolaaah
I would definitely recommend Blackpool. It has many coasters, none of which are spectacular IMO, but all were fun. It also has a lot of cool dark rides, some of which are historic, like the River Caves and Noah's Ark (one of only two remaining in the world). It also has a lot of quirky theming and a good sense of humor. Lots to do and see.
