weatherkid17 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I have a bunch of pics from sfot, but they are way too big. anyone know how to shrink them so i can upload them? thanks!
Homer Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 If you have Windows XP, this little thing Microsoft made is the best solution. Image Resizer by Microsoft Remember that all pictures must be BELOW 800x600 pixels. Other then that, welcome to TPR.
steel Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Get an account on xanga. You don't have to give any info other than you email, or actually start a blog or anything, but you can upload photos. When they're uploaded, click on the one you want. It will go to a screen that includes a small version of the picture. Click on it. You will be able to pick one of five different sizes: square (very handy for avatars), small, medium, large, and original. Medium is a good size for Photo TRs, so right click and save it as what it already is, if that makes any sense whatsoever.
Carnage Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^ That could take awhile if you have alot of pics. I'll second a suggestion for the XP Power toy. You can resize entire blocks of pics in one go. So even if you're resizing a couple hundred photos it'll all be done in a couple minutes.
weatherkid17 Posted July 27, 2006 Author Posted July 27, 2006 thanks you guys! i ended up using the power toy. it worked like a charm. i just posted the Six flags over texas photo tr.
Carnage Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^actually it doesn't take long at all. It will if you have to manually save 100 pics one at a time. With the power toy you don't have to upload anything. Just make the change directly in the file itself.
steel Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^You can do 5 at a time, which works well when you are writing the TR itself. It reall isn't that big a deal anyway, because if you have 100 photos, they won't all fit in one post and you can take breaks in between. I'm sure power toy is an easy way to do it too. Also, a lot of cameras take pictures that are bigger than the maximum size on Power Toy, Image Shack, Photobucket, etc. Xanga is easier that way.
okinawaboy11 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I was going to say Irfan View. It works wonders.

Remember that we will only archive and link to your Photo TR if your photos are UPLOADED to TPR. By linking to your photos located someplace else, we cannot guarantee the photos will be removed at a later date, and we don't want to have links to Photo TR's with "red X's" instead of photos. The best way to get your Photo TR seen on TPR for many years to come is to UPLOAD your pictures using the "Add Photo" tool at the botton of the posting box. --Robb
jamesdillaman Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Any tips for mac users on resizing software that you have liked? (besides buy a pc, I've heard that one, but my pc crashed one too many times, so never again, Microsoft!) -James Dillaman
CoasterCrazy Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I use Irfanview to re-size all of my photos and it allows you to re-size tons of pictures at the same time.

okinawaboy11 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 it allows you to re-size tons of pictures at the same time. How!?
CoasterCrazy Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 ^ Just follow the directions on this screen. Click File then click Batch Conversion/Rename.
Astat Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Just open them up in Paint and go to Image > Stretch/Skew, and stretch them by however much smaller you want them. If you want a picture half the size, type in 50% vertical and 50% horizontal. Just make sure to use the stretch and not the skew.
pete4winds Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 ^ Yet another plan that works well in theory, but not so well if you're doing a ton of photos at once.

I only use xanga to resize the images. Then I save them to My Picturess and upload them to TPR. I'm pretty sure that's legal... I would upload directly to TPR, but my camera is insane and takes something like 2000 x 1500 pics (wild guess, but its WAY bigger than most places allow and I can't figure out how to change it).
