  1. A new preview posted! If I manage to finish it on time for the comics festival, the book should be released on Aug. 19th in Israel!
  2. I just stumbled upon an awesome video of some ride in new Zealand called the Shweeb. Granted, it's nothing worth traveling overseas for, but it's definately interesting to look at. Here's a great video of it on an Israeli website: http://www.flix.co.il/tapuz/showVideo.asp?m=3311541 And a youtube search brings up some good results too. I imagine alot of you won't consider that as a credit (especially those of you who don't count powered coasters as a credit), but in my opinion it's close enough.
  3. Last thing I saw in Dubailand's progress was that the visitor center and the autodrome or however it's called, opened. The rest was still sand. Now, this was over a year ago, and on several occasions I talked to people from Dubai who mentioned that construction on dubailand has already started, but I can't find pictures of it anywhere online! I know the project is suffering delays, but is there really nothing there but sand? Or is it just that there are no pictures of it anywhere?
  4. What the... How come I never heard of this coaster untill now? It's quite the megastructure! How fast is it? When is it schedueled to open?
  5. I used to play Scream Machines. Less than Nolimits, I'll grant you, but still a good amount. It was really hard buildinga 4D coaster there ut I did succeed to build a couple good ones. ^^ I doubt he meant having all the trains avalible for all the tracks. I think he meant more like in RCT, where you can choose B&M hyper trains, Floorless trains, rgular trains, or stand up trains for B&Ms.
  6. Everyone alwasy says they want 4D coasters in games, but once they finaly get added, nobody actually build them because of how complicated they are. I am reffering of course to RCT and Scream Machines.
  7. the whole point of the video is things you cna only see by video, since it's all about movment and sounds and usch. graphics-wise it's nothing we haven't seen before(except for the 3DS)
  8. ^I still doubt any coaster company will need 4 different varieties of "Splortch" sounds for walking through different levels of soggy ground.
  9. On one hand... YES!!! Finally a coaster sighting! And it looks GREAT! And I love how realistic it looks when the person walks. That has to be one of the most realistic walking simulations I've seen in a game. On the toher hand... there is such a thing as TOO good. I would've gladly given up on the raindrops making an individual imprint when they hit something, dolphins, and on 4 different kinds of "splotch" sounds depending on how solid the ground you're stepping on is, in return to shaving some time from the game development and easing up game requirements. Or even just making the coaster somehow look better because I must admit it looked alot like Nolimits 1.(Not that that's a bad thing. Nolimits 1 had great graphics. Just saying that's hwot he time woiuldve been better spent in my opinion)
  10. Thanks, everyone! Youve been a great help.
  11. Sigh... If it's this much trouble I definately think I'll have to pass on publishing it on anything larger than a couple-of-stores scale in america... Then again I don't know if I ever really planned on it being large scale. I just want to se ehow this goes to begin with. If americans owuld even be interested in buying my comics. As I said I did email the companies involved, and only one answered back. Well either way I just made a long distance call to Cedar point. Sure enough I was faced with both a call redireciton system and being put on hold a couple of times, but eventually Beth, the nice lady I talked to, gave me the number of the PR representative and told me to try calling tommorrow. If I can at least get Cedar Fair to give me a green light that would already be great, seeing as many of the trademarks in the book are Cedar Fair related (Breakers hotel, Cedar Point, Kings Island, and all the rides in said parks) I appreciate your help. You're right, just having people say "dont worry, they wont find out" wouldn't of been helpful. I guess I was mostly just hoping to hear from Americans who know first hand how letigious the corporations are what owuld happen in case that they DID find out. What are the odds of **** hitting the fan.
  12. I AM giving this alot of thought, this is not my first published comic book, it's just the first one to have copyrighted names in it and a hope of being published in america. There's no need to belittle me. I don't publish my books via a publishing company, around here there's no point in even going to them with a comic book unless it has about a hundred pages and a hard cover. I print and publish them myself(or if there's a large quanitity required, I print them at a print shop), much like other Israeli cartoonists. Therefore, I have no attorney. As to how I can afford printing - it's really not that expensive. But knowing how many companies I need to call, and how come it's likely that every single one of them will put me on hold for half an hour or have me go through a call redirection system, that becomes expensive. And no, of course they're not suing us for talking about them, because we're just having conversation, but once I put them in a comic book which I SELL and therefore make money on, it's a ocmpletely different story. Fact is, you do not see many copyrighted company names in the media unless it's a sponsorship, or a talk show.
  13. Well as some of you know I'm working on a comic book based on funny true stories that happened to me. Some of which happened during the TPR 2007 Midwest trip. Now, alot of the places and names I want to use in the book are copyrighted, such as Cedar Point, Top Thrill Dragster, and even non coaster palces such as Mcdonalds & Taco Bell. I'm not so worried about putting Israeli establsihments in the book, but corporate america does have a reputation for being letigious. I emailed many of the big companies, including Cedar Fair, Paramount, Mcdonalds, you name it. I got a response from ONE of them, an italian company that probably didnt understand what I was saying anyway. All the rest - NOTHING. Now, seeing as I hope to publish this book in America too, I'd really like it if I didn't get SUED. I'm a 19 year old cartoonist and a college student, so it's needless to say hiring a lawyer is way out of my budget. Since this book is based on real events, I really rather not start twisting names aorund like "Taco Ball" or "WcDonalds". When I write about top Thrill dragster I want people to be able to go online and look it up. I even considered making long distance calls to some of thes eplaces, but it's expensive and go figure if it'll help. Can anybody help me? I'd really like to be able to post conversations as they happened, and show places as they really are called.
  14. ^I didn't give you the cold shoulder, I just havne't seen you around the trip! Dave (MethOS) hung out with me for half hte trip he's not even in one comic! I'm really sorry if I gave off the wrong impression, I had no intention to make it look like I'm giving you the cold shoulder
  15. Thank you very much, Guy! Nice to hear some feedback from one of the first Lil' Rob readers. Nice to hear an update about you and Kimmy, too! Hope the marriage subject isn't as sensitive nowdays.
  16. Thank you so much, James! I love hearing that kind of stuff. ^Chris, that sounds like quite the story! Keep us updated! I'd want to read it!
  17. Huh... I never knew Expoland closed... What happened to it?
  18. Oh, I hope Robb will let me sell them in the store, that would really help out at least in terms of marketing to TPR members. ^Heh, thank you, but it's not a book deal, it's a self-published comic book. Usually I do everything myself, the art, writing, printing, folding, stapling, getting it to the store, etc. And it turns out okay. Of course, that being said, pretty much all of Israel's comic book stores(which is approximately 3) are within 10ft distance of each other, and walking distance from my house. I might have to change a few things if I go trans-atlantic. Again, help by someone who knows a thing or two abotu either publishing, or comic books would be appreciated. Chris, what's the novel you're working on? Details!
  19. ^Lol, that's the entire point of the comic. I didn't make it up, it actually happened! ^^ Thank you so much! I am hoping it will, however, when it will be avalible, where will it be avalible, how it will be avalible, etc. are questions I can't answer just yet. Assuming it does get released in the USA, the "worst" case scenario is that I print just a couple of regular paper copies and take them with me whenever I travel to the USA next (which might not be for a couple of years), and try to unload them at whatever comic book store might be around the area I'm visiting. Best case scenario is that I somehow manage to get it published wide-spread as a polished little book in comic book stores across the country rather soon after August, and it'll be avalible online somehow, in a way that allows for quick shipping(seeing as things take forever to get to/from Israel). I have no idea about how these things work outside of Israel so if anyone's into comics... any help would be appreciated. Oh! By the way! I forgot to mention a really important thing! FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! On May 2nd Free Comic Book Day takes place around the world(No, you've never heard of it before, Yes, they probably do have it at your local comic book store). I recently visited London, so I dropped off a couple of copies(no more than 9 though) of the free sample book at Orbital Comics. So if anyone happens to be around London on May 2nd, drop by and see if you can get a copy!
  20. Wow, man! Thanks! That's such a great thing to hear I'm really glad to see that people might be looking forward to this book. By the way, feel free to leave critiques on the ocmic I psoted. I wasn't %100 happy with it, so I got some feedback from other poeple, and I'm probably going to give it a magor makeover to make it funnier and more consistant, art-wise. Also, in case some fo you hadn't noticed, I posted a link to a non-coaster comic to show you what else the book will have to fofer. By the way... It's okay for me to post this, right? I mean, it's a shamelss self plug, but it also has something to do with TPR. If it's not I apologize in advance.
  21. Thanks I'mg oing to need it... Hard to work on ti during hte schoolyear, plus it's my first book to be(hopefully) published internationally
  22. ^Yeah, if it didn't really happen I wouldn't of made a comic about it. And you're right, it is indeed Adventure Express. And no, I never had a Taco, or a Wendy's. ^^Thanks! It's not my first book, it's the first one in this series though, my other two books were about fictional stories. And I actually don't know yet how I'm going to have it be avalible overseas to be honest with ya. This is the first time I'm planning on releasing a book outside of Israel!
  23. Magor announcement on the first post!
  24. One of the most hillarious things on the internet
