  1. From reading the rumor blogs, it seems like the initial plans for installing the full sound/SFX package from DLR has been shelved in favor of just a minor cosmetic refresh due to economic concerns.
  2. With all the rain and fog in the week leading up to New Year's, I doubt fires were the real reason. Six Flags didn't cancel the summer fireworks until this past summer, but brush fires have always been a threat in Southern California.
  3. Serioulsly? That was it for the fireworks? They put on better shows nightly during the summer.
  4. Good find. The thing is actually VERY well synched. Every number you press on the phone instantly triggers a sound file on the web page. Quite impressive. It's a musical sorting game. Each key corresponds to a different snippet of Jingle Bells. Press the keys in the correct order to play the entire song and it unlocks the page with the note. The order posted above is correct, but I had to wait until the sound file played completely before hitting the next key in order for it to work. In any case, here is the note. Notice the blue background... It would make a lot more sense if the Superman ride were being refurbished, not Medusa.
  5. If you go to http://www.clawshunindustries.com/xmas it takes you to a page that asks for a phone number. Enter your number and you get a phone call that says: "Merry Christmas from Clawshun Industries, and here's a message from our CEO..." As it says that, the web page's background changes from red to purple (familiar?), and it shows a picture of a christmas tree with kryptonite hanging from it that says "Merry Lex-Mas".
  6. Thats not necessarily the parks fault that the line was long for season passes, and that when you got to the front your zip code was not recognized. The line is nobodies fault really, and so is the zip code. No, the line is entirely the park's fault. If they want people to buy passes, there is NO excuse for a three hour line. They should have more employees processing passes, train their employees so that they can process them faster, improve their software so it doesn't hold things up, and find ways to streamline the process (for example, SFNE has employees monitoring the line handing out clipboards so that people can fill out the forms while waiting). If the computer doesn't recognize a legitimate ZIP code, the park should fix the program -- it's absolutely their problem.
  7. Correct, California Screamin' uses LIMs for both launch and Lift.
  8. Busch Gardens Tampa: Python Dorney Park: Laser King's Dominion: Hypersonic XLC Six Flags America: Two Face Six Flags Astroworld: Batman: The Escape Six Flags Astroworld: Greased Lightning Six Flags Astroworld: Mayan Mindbender Six Flags Astroworld: Serial Thriller Six Flags Astroworld: Texas Cyclone Six Flags Astroworld: Ultra Twister Six Flags Astroworld: Viper Six Flags Great Adventure: Batman And Robin: The Chiller Six Flags Magic Mountain: Psyclone Elitch Gardens: Flying Coaster
  9. I downloaded it with Firefox and got the same CRC error other people reported. I downloaded it a second time in Internet Explorer and it worked. Wonderful video, btw. It was quite shocking seeing the difference in Robb's weight between his on-stage appearance (where he called out Elissa in the audience) and him getting of California Screamin' in the Disney segment.
  10. Yes, but Superman and Mind Eraser used to have very similar color schemes (red track, blue supports) and those two rides were right next to each other.
  11. The Clawshun Industries site is slowly changing. As you move your mouse over certain words, the original word is crossed out and a new one pops up. Some of the changes are below: http://clawshunindustries.com/default.aspx: Becomes: http://clawshunindustries.com/about.aspx: Becomes: http://clawshunindustries.com/history.aspx: Becomes: http://clawshunindustries.com/message.aspx: Becomes: Also, on the http://clawshunindustries.com/message.aspx page, moving your mouse over the picture of the president removes his hair and makes him bald
  12. From MetropolisStockExchange.com Basically, it's saying to still sign up for "stock" if you want to recieve updates on the S:RoS construction.
  13. There was confirmation today that the Superman theme will be removed during the rehab from http://clawshunindustries.com/ It also hints at a possible name change for the park (Six Flags over Springfield?) It also confirms, as I speculated before, that Clawshun is part of LexCorps
  14. A new website has shown up: http://www.stopclawshun.com/ Also, the members over at Unfiction noticed that the name of the Clawshun CEO is John Exler Espada. That is an Anagram for Alexander Joseph . If you look at the wikipedia page for Lex Luthor, his given name is Alexander Joseph Luthor. Is Clawshun secretly owned by LexCorp?
  15. Other changes: EPCOT * The Seas with Nemo and Friends: The old boring seacab ride has been replaced with a Nemo attraction that uses the same underwater projection technology as the Subs at Disneyland to make Nemo and friends appear with the fish. Features a catchy song and is actually in many ways better than the Subs at Disneyland. The rest of the pavilion was given a Nemo makeover, and now features the interactive Turtle Talk with Crush show. * Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros: The old boat ride in Mexico has been given a Donald Duck makeover and is actually entertaining now. * Spaceship Earth: The ride in the giant EPCOT ball has been refurbished, adding a new scene about the invention of the PC, replacing Walter Cronkite as the narrator with Judy Dench, and replacing the ending with an interactive animation Animal Kingdom * Finding Nemo: The Musical: A 45 minute stage extravaganza that takes its cues from the broadway Lion King musical. Lots of great puppetwork and amazing setpieces. You need to show up at least 45 minutes in advance to get a seat. * Magic Kingdom Pirates of the Carribean: This ride was given a makeover based on the movies, adding Jack Sparrow figures and a new "waterfall" effect. These changes were made mid-2006 so they may have been there on your last visit.
  16. Brilliant! Let's take a coaster that has a reputation and name recognition, even among the general public, as the #1 coaster in the world and rename it. Renaming coasters is what you do to get rid of a bad reputation, not a good one! EDIT: In other news, 50% of the Clawshun shares have been given away so far -- get yours before they run out!
  17. I avoid doing that since my opinion of a coaster might change during the year. I usually don't even look at my past ballots unless I cannot remember how much I liked a certain coaster.
  18. Maybe I was influenced by my big Florida trip this year, or maybe I'm just getting older and raw intensity isn't as important, but my rankings this year tended to favor themed coasters more than in past years. Also, SFNE's S:RoS was pushed down below favorite wood into a tie with Nitro based on how rough it has been running this year. Hopefully it will be back on top again next year after the redo. My top 10 (okay, 12 since there are two ties) are as follows: 1. Favorite Wood Coaster Any Park Anywhere ** 2. Superman - Ride of St SF New England MA 2. Nitro Six Flags Great Ad NJ 3. SheiKra Busch Gardens Tamp FL 3. Griffon Busch Gardens Euro VA 4. California Screamin' Disney CA Adventur CA 5. Space Mountain Disneyland CA 6. Apollo's Chariot Busch Gardens Euro VA 7. Storm Runner Hersheypark PA 8. X2 Six Flags Magic Mo CA 9. Expedition Everest Disney Animal King FL 10. Rock `n' Roller Coast Disney's H Studios FL
  19. I will post my modified grouping method that I use, although I haven't filled out this year's ballot yet: Don't forget that ties are okay, and that it doesn't matter how much one coaster beats another by (so coaster A being 1 and coaster B being 1.1 is the same as Coaster A being 1 and coaster B being 100, as long as there are no rides in between) 1-10: My top ten coasters (I actually had a top 12 last year since there was a 4.5 and a 6.5) 11: Coasters that are so good that I would go to the park just for that ride, but didn't make the top 10. 12: Coasters that I would definitely ride if I was at the park, regardless of the line. 13: Coasters that I would ride if there was a reasonable line. 14: Coasters that I would ride only if there was a very short line. 15: Coasters that I would only ride for the credit, and never re-ride (painful rides). 16-20: My bottom 5 coasters. Rides that you couldn't pay me to ride again. I've seen other people rank 1-20, rank the meh coasters in the middle all 30 (with a few 29s and 31s thrown in), and then rank 40-60.
  20. And Clawshun is an anagram for both "saw lunch" and "was lunch"
  21. The Metropolis Stock Exchange is now open, and you can register for a free share of Clawshun stock at http://www.metropolisstockexchange.com/ There are only a limited quantity available according to the graph at http://www.clawshunindustries.com I don't know how this will play into the game, but it's at least a way to get on their email list.
  22. I don't know whether it deserves it's own thread or not, but it looks like SFNE is pulling a "nantimi" and starting a viral marketing campaign to promote SRoS^2. Representatives from "Clawshun" industries, as well as protesters objecting to the changes, were at SFNE this past weekend handing out literature. Supposedly, "Clawshun" is responsible for the changes to S:RoS. There are youtube videos of this here and here. Clawshun has a website at http://www.clawshunindustries.com/ That website links to both http://www.metropolisstockexchange.com/ and the phone number (877) 895-3755 Looks like things will start up tomorrow when the Metropolis stock exchange opens.
  23. Unfortunately, it looks like you're not getting the new vest-style restraints.
  24. There are places where screaming can be good. Random places in public isn't one of them
  25. Tween girls that scream for no reason on rides Tween girls that scream for no reason going up lift hills Tween girls that scream for no reason while sitting on the brake run Tween girls that scream for no reason while in line Tween girls that scream for no reason while walking down paths Tween girls that scream for no reason just to be annoying
