  1. ^I think they just have a list...looks like they sent out the email as a BCC. As for my extra ticket, it has been claimed. Thanks for those that replied.
  2. If anyone wants to go and didnt win, I still have my guest ticket available. Hit me up with a PM.
  3. #100 was Avalanche/HellCat this past weekend
  4. I have a feeling they are counting on people dropping out. So perhaps they are inviting more than they need. Even then, with all the coasters open lines shouldnt be that bad.
  5. Didn't they just use the same blueprints from Knott's Silver Bullet with a few minor revisions? Some awesome shots! Thanks! That's what I have heard as well. Seems rather similar to me.
  6. Interesting, I signed up and have made 6 Six Flags visits this year (3 SFMM, 2 SFOT, 1 SFGAm) and I have yet to get anything.
  7. Also, the discount is not valid on Fridays & Saturdays.
  8. ^Especially now that the movie theatre is closed. Theres nothing else there. Its strange really...theres a lot of relatively new stuff downtown, just not at Neonopolis. There's been a stigma about the place since before it opened. I do have to say I enjoyed going to the movies there...no crowds, excellent sound system.
  9. ^Star Trek is moving, ableit in modified form, to Neonopolis. They were supposed to open this past week (to coincide with the movie), but it has been delayed until next month. Up first is supposedly just a portion of the museum and restaurant. Any plans for the ride portion to return are a ways off. They just closed the movie theatre last weekend so who knows if the new ST:TE will fail before it even opens. As for the dome, it still brings people in with minimal investments. Its served them well for the past 15 years (16 in August). I figure by getting rid of Rim Runner its bound to save them some money in the long run. The last time I worked there was during winter semester break in 2004-2005 and at the time they only ran Rim Runner on the weekends to save money on the power required for the pumps (not to mention manpower as it requires the most attendants of any ride in the park.) Interesting fact about the article is they are talking about attendance. They are not talking about tickets/wristbands. They base attendance on the number of folks walking into the park. When I first worked there in high school they had an admissions person stand out there with a "clicker" to keep hourly counts of people walking in. Then sometime around that fall (before the holidays) they added photo eyes to the entry arches to keep track. When those arent working, they still have the person in the lil security booth use a clicker.
  10. World's First Wooden coaster themed to a movie. World's first wooden coaster themed to the Terminator franchise World's first wooden coaster to have an onboard soundtrack World's first wooden coaster to actually have extensive theming World's first GCI to have all those things... Now you were saying??? Dan - My two cents, not sense Wasnt Wild Wild West a wooden coaster themed to a movie?
  11. ^I'm thinking the front row's speakers will be built into whatever shell/railing they have.
  12. Interesting solution for the speakers. I wonder if there is a cover going over them.
  13. I think the juristiction the park falls under has a say in that. I know when I worked at Adventuredome, we were mandated by Clark County to run new rides for a certain number of hours before people would be allowed on. When we opened Chaos back in 2001, this wound up being just under 400 complete cycles. We took turns having someone cycle it over and over and didnt take more than a day or two.
  14. ^ They took out that car a long time ago...I wouldnt attribute that to Terminator.
  15. I think there are pros and cons to putting the lockers up front. On one side, its good to let people see them up front and catch them as they get in line. The drawback is that you'd need more lockers because people would use them for more of the 2 hr time limit. Meaning the turnover rate isnt as high. Thats why I like the approach they took at Riddler, Scream and X2 where the lockers are right at/before the station. You can get away with fewer lockers because less people would be using them at any given point and it clears up the bottle neck that can occur on busy days (ala Goliath)
  16. Vegas... High Roller Lightning Bolt (versions 1 & 2) SFMM... Flashback Psyclone KBF... Windjammer Wacky Soap Box Racers
  17. already been... SFOT SFMM USH DLR KBF Castle Park Adventure City SW San Diego Belmont Park plan[ned]... SFGAM & the Dells - May 15-17 SFFT & SW San Antonio - June 5-6 plan[ning]... BGW/KD/SFA - June DLR/SFMM - July (birthday!) Lagoon (Utah) - August WDW/SW Orlando/BGT - October
  18. I have both of those credits. If you are in ACE, admission is only $9.95.
  19. Even thought I live in Vegas, I rarely ride our attractions here unless theres some great locals deal or I have an out of town guest who's interested. Thus, I consider SFMM my home park and usually visit about once a month unless I have other travel plans.
  20. A friend and I bought the Ghostrider one back in November. I was actually surprised at the quality of the recording...even considering we did our ride just after dark. It was pretty clear thanks to the night vision thing they had going on. I have no doubt that the roughness of the ride had something to due with its ultimate demise. It took us three rides to get our video, but I have to say the roughness meant a very classic, sheer terror/pain look on our faces. It seems they moved the system around a bit...it was on Silver Bullet during my Haunt visit in 2007 and on Xcel during my September 2008 visit and on neither during Solace, but still on Sidewinder through all my visits (at least I think it was still there during Solace). But about Terminator and the sound system - I dont think the fact that its wood will have any effect. I mean X2 isnt the smoothest coaster in the world and for the most part, its sound is pretty reliable. Granted you may get some crappy speakers every once and a while, but its been pretty good. Even better this year than last.
  21. Pretty much, except its the far left and it splits near the entrance. Its funny to get there at opening and see all those people hop the railing and landscaping to get to this "open" lane, only to be forced to walk back because its not the regular line.
  22. I watched the entire special over the weekend. They played like 3 or 4 times on BBC America. It was interesting to say the least. She was all "I want your fluids". Nip/Tuck had a storyline about an objectum-sexual doctor this season. He had a thing for furniture. They caught him getting it on with the couch in thier waiting room.
  23. I wonder if they will go for simple railings over the bridge or put up walls ala the bridge over by Deja. Lots of folks dont even realize the canal is in that area due to how the walls cover it all up. I remember back when Psyclone opened and they had the extended queue run behind the chili dog stand. I wonder if they will have to open it back up this summer as the area gets more traffic. I'm also curious to see how the Terminator queue shapes up, especially what kind of extended queue set up they are going for.
  24. What a coincidence...I am headed to SeaWorld this upcoming Saturday! Perhaps it will still be there.
