  1. Looks to be a tease to maybe some theming?
  2. Great news from Ohio! Also, here is a new Orion photo:
  3. Ohio is fine with indoor FECs with rides to reopen! It makes no sense to have a gigantic outdoor park closed as well.
  4. I’m curious when you visited; the fire effects worked for me at Kings Island all last year.
  5. Paramount did not know how to run theme parks. End of story.
  6. It’s not me, I’m just sharing the news and videos on this project that get uploaded. My home park is Kings Island and I’ve been keeping close tabs on the stuff people have shared online about Orion. If it was me doing the videos, all the videos would be on the same channel. It seems to be three or four different people doing the drone videos.
  7. It’s not my video, I just posted it here because of the news. If the mods want to take it down, then go ahead.
  8. Here’s a new drone video, very good look at the overall Area 72 section. My number one thought: what’s with all the plywood fencing in Area 72? It would have looked better and more consistent with the theming if it was all metal fencing. You can see that they put up new metal fencing where Firehawk’s brake run turn was. Why not extend that to the whole area?
  9. I thought Kings Island/Cedar Fair did a tremendous job with theming on Mystic Timbers, so hopefully we’ll see some great stuff with Orion. There already is a storyline, but hopefully there’s some more substantial things in the queue line.
  10. Also nice they tried basing it off Flight of Fear’s exterior. Gray bottom with a blue stripe. The supports=the gray bottom and the track=the blue stripe.
  11. Mystic Timbers on opening day 2017 had a similar approach: station architecture that matches the area and "Miami River Lumber Co." written above the ride operator booth. That seems very similar to here, the station architecture matches the whole Area 72 vibe and there is a themed sign above the booth you can see in the video--it ends in "ting." For Mystic Timbers, even though the station was plain, there was still tons of theming in the queue, in the plaza, onride, etc. So for Orion, who knows, maybe they're busy installing props or something in the queue. But on the other hand, Cedar Fair did cut out $75-100 million of capital, and a theming package would be an easy thing to cut...
  12. A look at the interior of Orion’s station:
  13. Here’s a new drone video from a few days ago:
  14. Great photos! Cedar Fair has certainly done wonders at Kings Island.
  15. Kings Island opened 48 years ago today! What I would give to sit down and talk to people like Gary Wachs who founded Kings Island.
  16. Thats usually not up to the general manager. They might have a say in some things, but not all of it. It is, mostly. You should ask him sometime about Mystic Timbers. What that was going to be before he became GM in late 2016. Also worth noting the same people were at corporate in 2014 and 2017, but compare Banshee’s theming to Mystic Timbers as an entire story-driven coaster. So...why the change? Answer: a change in leadership at the park. Mystic Timbers also has a back story behind it, which gives them the chance to do the theming they did. Banshee does not. Most of all that comes from corporate. And like i said, the GM might have some say in the theming, but probably not all of it. If you ask him, you’ll get your answers. I’ve found he’s pretty approachable.
  17. Accidental double post, please delete.

  19. The general manager who did most of the theming on Mystic Timbers is still general manager, so I’d imagine it would have been impressive.
  20. The Quonset hut structure before the station stairs was supposed to have a “preshow.”
  21. Do you guys think the theming package will get cut? They’re cutting $75-100 million across both 2020 and 2021, and I feel like that would be an easy thing to cut, unless they already have contracts signed with the theming company.
  22. Looks like some nice work for Viking Fury: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2020/march/viking-fury-gets-new-coat-of-paint
